They believe his value will increase with D'Antioni, Welp once again we are back at square one, I don't think we should wait till the last minute, as the bobcats are talking to Okafor, and Smith is getting calls for JJ so dam...We need to get something happening here. Shocked

I think Clips will make an offer sheet to someone between now and Thursday. If not then I'll start getting a bit worried lol

Guys, this article was written on the 11th. Didn't the Knicks say they are still willing to deal with us this weekend...during the Summer League?

Yeah good call didn't catch that. And it hasn't been updated since Friday 11. So I guess nothings changed then.

If I were the Knicks, I'd say Randolph is going to be a beast next year too, it doesn't mean that it's true. New York knows they have to dump Randolph, and it will be easier now than later. Basically we'd be doing them a favor, we just have to be smart about it. And keep in mind that Tim Thomas had an unbelievable season with Mike D'Antoni in Phoenix, he has to love the guy

The bottom line for me is: If we don't get Okafor OR Smith, we'll be settling for second best no matter who we pick up... we need to make some offers... FAST

Both Okafor and Smith are good players, but Randolph is better in my mind. Smith gets a lot of buzz for his rejections, but all of them are weakside rejections which are completely overrated, he tries to help his teammate and leaves a man open every time. Okafor is pretty good, but we'd probably have to pay 12-13 million a year for him which is too much, he averages just about 10 and 10, his offensive game is strictly put-backs. But I agree with you, I'm getting anxious, I want to see a deal happen soon

Not true JS is one of the up comer perimeter defenders. He gets straight up blocks. And with Kaman and him we could actually improve our block numbers. Even if he were to block all from the weak side anyone who gets 9 in one game must have some talent. Thats a lot blocks.

I would love to have Smith, but I don't think it's possible. It sounds like Atlanta is set on matching anything for that guy. It would suck to have him sign an offer sheet, then wait a week for the Hawks to finally sign him back.

Yes, but if they had made an offer when MDsr had dinner w/ him, we'd have our answer by now.

Anyway, there hasn't been anyone else making offers to the major RFAs in the past couple days ... so if we have to wait 7 days for ATL to match the other RFAs will still be there (no one else has cap room to make an offer

I know it's old news that the deal for Zach died (thankfully), but according to hoopshype, LAC asked for MORE than we thought:

    http://njmg.typepad.com/knickknacks/200 ... e-zac.html

specifically: "Instead, Thomsen [SI.com] reports, the Clippers wanted a future first-round draft pick, plus $3 million and wanted the Knicks to take Brevin Knight off their hands."

^^That's funny because that's what I thought the Clippers should have asked for, and they actually did! I'm happy that we got a defensive powerhouse in Camby instead and don't have to be stuck with Randolph's salary for another 3 years.

    excerpt from NYPOST.com:

"Walsh likely will make a trade before training camp begins in Saratoga Sept. 29, with unloading Zach Randolph's contract a priority. Randolph was a Vegas no-show. Turns out the Clippers tried to swipe a first-round pick from the Knicks to take Randolph off their hands, which is why Walsh declined."

good job Clips FO!!! i was thinkin even offering the knicks a 2nd rounder for takin on Z-Bo's ridiculous contract was a bit much....but holding firm and demanding a 1st rd pick with it is great! shows we ain't gettin punch around anymore...plus the knicks fans were in rage when they thought Donnie turned down our offer for a 2nd rounder to get rid of zach...
