I'm guessing Mobley will start at SG, at least for the first half of the season.
Excellent lineup.
And I believe ladodgermaniac originally suggested the Camby aquisition. I myself doubted it because I didn't think they'd give Camby away. I am so glad to be wrong. So props to you too, ladodgermaniac. |

i just had a weird thought. what if we trade thomas' contract and next yr 1st round pick to artest. Damn... that would be a heck of defensive line up. And then we resigned Q-ross
Davis
Artest
Thorton
Camby

That would be great- that means we can sign two pretty good players still. |

| VERY VERY IMPRESSIVE! Best defending big man in the league is ours! I had no clue this was something we were looking at. We got him for damn near nothing!!... He is good for 3 blocks per game and 11-14 rebounds a game when he gets alot of minutes and stays healthy. We are gonna win 50 games im pretty sure |

You're finally making a lot of sense, jarca. And if Artest doesn't work out, we just let him walk at the end of the season, |

| He's a young 34. Guys like Mutombo and Cassell stay effective for a long time because they are saavy enough to remain effective. |

| Hey, I am thrilled to have Camby. Defensive stud and can hit the 15 foot jumper with ease. Now, we need to get a shooting guard. Go a little younger than Cat. I know he is decent but man, I just like the idea of going after different players. Who is the best available for the cap space we have left? |

according to this, we have the MLE:
Quote:
19. Are there exceptions to the salary cap?
Yes. Teams are not allowed to be over the salary cap, unless they are using one of these exceptions:
MID-LEVEL SALARY EXCEPTION -- This exception allows a team to sign any free agent to a contract equal to the average salary, even if they are over the cap (see question number 24 for the definition of "average salary." Also note that for 2005-06 they used a defined figure of $5 million). This exception may be split and given to multiple players. It may be used for contracts of up to five years in length, and raises are limited to 8% of the salary in the first year of the contract. Signing a player to a multi-year contract does not affect a team's ability to use this exception every year. For example, a team can sign a player to a five-year contract using this exception and still use the exception the following year to sign another player. Also see question number 20 for more information on the availability and use of this exception.
If the player is a restricted free agent with one or two years of service and receives an offer sheet from a new team, the player's prior team may use the Mid-Level exception to match the offer sheet (see question number 36 for restricted free agency).
Here are the actual values of this exception for each season. Note that since this exception is based on the average player salary, the actual value of this exception is not determined until the start of the free agent signing period.

Holt excrement!! Artest is perfect but how did he do at GSW? Was he a time bomb of did he calm down. It seems he calmed down. As much as he worried me if he can accept his role then... It's worth the gamble. I think Al will surprise us on D

Nice- now let's see who we go after. We've been pretty prudent with our free agent signings in recent years, and I expect we'll get good value again for the $. |

Yeah not sure about Artest. He's already becoming quite erratic about wanting to leave the Kings. He did make an apology to the kings publicly but just the fact he was that out of control isn't out of the norm for him. I personally don't think he's worth the trouble. |

| ISn't MLE $5>5 mill plus? We could use it to pick up a decent bench player and have enough left for the old guard or we could go big and get Barnes??? |

I've never been into salary cap either .I believe you can have one master. It's money or quality within reason But..I think we can get what we need within the cap or bite it this yr and count on Mobley and Thomas gone 2010-2010 That will keep us from getting screwed in a few yrs. We've got too good a chance to be cheap
Scuse the typoos. White wine and typing don't mix A toast to Camby |
