Lets bring back Ruben Patterson. He played with high energy and played for peanuts. Also maybe Bonzi Wells.

DWB^^I do not know that much about richardson. He shot the three at a high clip. But I do not know about his defense. That is what we need athletic swing men who are good defenders that can knock down the open jumper. I am fine with powell being here 1 more year. I dont really know if JR smith would be that deadly if he were forced to play the 3 spot. But is athleticism is off the chart. He is a high flier but also a great shooter. Head case I dont know. Maybe with the coach, but his denver teammates love the guy. Especially after he was suspended for protecting Carmelo Anthony in that little brawl against new york. But a really good guy to his teammates.

I'm not against bringing back Patterson either. I know him and Dunleavy had differences, but he'd rather be making money than watching TV with Latrell Sprewell or something.

OK, I set up a new poll so go back to the main page and vote. I listened to of your suggestions, worked the NBA Free Agent lists and rankings, tried to figure out who was not signed yet and put a selection together. My criteria was SF's or SG's who were 6'6" or taller who could swing to SF. I also tried to include players that we could afford to sign at this point and I'm still not convinced that JR Smith is doable because he is restricted, but he's on the list. If I have included a player that has been signed please let me know, I might have missed it in my search. Thank Youuuuuuuuuu......JamFan

The only position that the Clippers need to address is the SF position.

Q.Ross & Al Thornton are the only SF the Clippers have in their line-up. Tim Thomas is more of a smaller PF than SF. Thomas' contract will end in the next 2+ years and the more logical move is to trade Thomas for Deng. Include some cash compensation or future draft pick. Seriously...signing a SF is the last move the Clippers need to take in order to complete their roster line-up.

Please Clippers Management...make one more miracle for us Clippernation!!!

The Clips should do a sign and trade for Deng, then re-sign Boniface Dong.

Can you hear Ralph, "Deng to Dong, Dong to Deng, SLAM-DUNK!! Oh me, oh my!"

Yea, lets sign Charles Barkley, Kenny "the Jet" Smith, and Ernie Johnson. Maybe Magic Johnson will join us once in a while with a stupid comment!

You can make many jokes about him but the truth is that he's doing a name by himself playing for Unicaja in Spain. I already posted this link months ago but I'm sure that many of the new members haven't seen him the video:

I know many have been saying that the Clippers need to sign a SF to solidify the roster. What about moving TT to permanently backing up Thornton at that position and bringing in another PF/C to take his back up role behind Kaman/Camby. If we can't get what we need we might as well change where some of our players are positioned.

It's just a thought. My first chance at this. Wanted to give posting a try.

Guys I just wanna throw out some names. What a about a move to get Barbosa as a 2 and move Cat to backup the 2 and 3. What about Michael Finley, he should have 1 or 2 more years in him plus he had won a championship. I know both are being dangled by their team, Diaw could also be brought in as a 3 or 4. Maybe a future pick and TT in exchange?

If you could find anyone to take TT that would be great but we might not get much in return. Who in the hell would want this guy. Seriously would you give up much for him. He is all potential, but not heart. I question his desire to play hard.

Q may be the on the horizon. Has he had any bites? He may lower his price because 4 for bridge with Van Horn, Earl and Sprewell doesn't sound profitable A one year contract and if he proves himself by finding the basket he'll be more marketable in 2009-2010 and Coach likes him. Not a bad bench. He doesn't make the big bucks so maybe he can't afford to miss a yr.

I wonder where Q got the idea that he was a high priced player. He will never be a MLE kind of guy with his jump shot being so inconsistent.

He really doesn't want to be in ATL.

He's a summer league guy playing for the Lakers.

I watched all the Lakers summer league games and the guy is crazy. He plays like he has something to prove and when he puts his head down he's VERY dominant.

Anybody else seen him play?

Hell no lol. Sprewell is way too old and hasn't played in quite a while.

I'm still wondering what this insider knows...

http://www.insidesocal.com/clippers/

We were supposed to know of a free-agent signing on Thursday but they seem to have run into a few complications.

Charles Barkley, our ticket prices would soar, as would our Micky D's restaurant prices, because he'd buy out the days burgers.

How about we get Devean George, would be a great back up for Thorton. His very athletic and has high energy. I remember how intense he was when he played for the Lakers.

Devean George

Height: 6-8

Weight: 235 lbs.

By the way Devean is a unrestricted free agent, so we would have to wait a week to see if we get him.

A question somewhat related.

One can be over the cap and still have a couple of mill before tax sets in. What's that all about? I know it can make the next few yrs difficult unless the team can dump contracts.

Quinton Ross would also be a great idea. He tried his luck in the open market and it didn't work. Clippers should get him back to back up Thornton. Q was really good at defending a good amount of the west elite players, like Carmelo, Kobe, Mcgrady, and Nash to name a few.

Kareem Rush is another guy that would do good of the bench and has a good offensive skills.

Height: 6-6

Weight: 215 lbs.

Q shows a lot of heart, but I have little confidence in him. When you have an elite defender, the only thing you ask of him is to make shots from his sweet spot consistently, Q has that jumper from 15-18 feet and he misses it all the time. I've seen him shoot it in practice and he'll miss it 10 times in a row. I really wish he'd hit it on a regular basis cuz he'd be perfect if he did

There are two restraints that teams must abide by: The salary cap and the luxury cap. You can only go over the salary cap by re-signing your own players and by using trade exceptions.

The salary cap (and luxury cap) raise every year, but I think you can go $12M-$14M over the cap before worrying about the luxury tax (100% dollar for dollar tax).

The team is not done making moves. But it's likely the only expiring contract we have next year is Jason Hart. Assuming we re-sign him for the same amount, sign a mid-draft pick, and then sign a FA for the MLE and another for the BAE, the team would still be comfortably far from the luxury cap. The only teams that have to worry about luxury tax are ones who grossly overpay for players, trade for grossly over-paid players and constantly spend their exceptions (NYK, DEN, DAL).

BTW, no one is crazy about the Thomas and Mobley contracts. But the truth is that they are not financially crippling. In fact, they will become very valuable when they enter their final year. It's important to cash them in at the right time or perhaps simply let them expire, not dump them for someone else's bad contracts. And of course, if a good deal comes by, then cash in.

Singleton would actually fit the position perfectly. It's too bad Dunleavy hates him for whatever reason, he could help quite a bit

I agree he would be a good fit, but he was signed by Dallas and for less then 800K.

Thanks Journeyman. I've read the CBA at least 10 times and the IRS tax codes make more sense
