I'd prefer to have some other players instead of him...Maybe as our third option for the SF backup would be fair.

i guess......im hoping we could somehow get ricky davis. but i think he would demand more than what we can give him. also, i dont think he would want to be a sixth man......i really want us to sign darius miles...i think he can still score.we should give him a chance.

We should not sign Ricky Davis. Anyone who pays attention to the NBA for the last 5 years has seen how he does nothing but cause trouble on his teams. He wants to be the man on his team, but his teams never win. We dont need that here.

Yes. Ricky Davis can be defined with two words: selfish and loser.

hello, im a clippers fan from denmark. i've been visiting your forum reguarly for some time now, and now i've registered.

i think kirk snyder would do nicely as a SF backup on the team.

i've searched a bit about him could be described as a role-player with good energy and defence, and he runs good off the ball. don't forget he turned 25 recently.

in june Timberwolves said this:

Update: Minnesota did not make a qualifying offer to Snyder, making him an unrestricted free agent, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Analysis: While Synder had a nice showing with Minnesota after coming over from Houston, the T-Wolves don't want to sign him to any kind of long-term deal since he'd be a role player.

I agree, I like Snyder as the backup. Between him and TT backing up Al, we cover several different line-up options (which MDsr likes). This should leave enough money for Shaun (maybe).

Its okay bro. Welcome to the site. Dont worry about your writing sometimes we do the same thing. And i like snyders d, but I still think we need a shooter of the bench instead of another slasher. Or someone capable of both.

disagree, we need another BIG, even though every team needs more shooters; we have a GREAT outside shooter in Tim Thomas when hes not asked to play the 4 or 5 because of Kaman and Eltons injuries. Thomas will have a much better year this yaer as a 6th man type role as he was in Pheonix.

Plus we just drafted a gifted shooter in Eric Gordon who is not a 3 obviously but will open up things with the ability to down outside shots all around the parimeter.

Tim Thomas,Cat Mobley,Baron Davis and Eric Gordon (who showed amazing range in college), are all above avg outside shooters IMO

I've been vouching for this guy. But people are throwing out names like Ricky Davis(headcase), Robert Horry(fossil), Michael Finley(fossil), Kwame Brown(huh?), Gordan Giricek(vet minimum at most). Bonzi's the only other guy I'd want.

With either Bonzi or Snyder, we're solid at the wing positions. Let's do it.

My wish list:

For $3M

  1. Kirk Snyder - He's young, athletic and can hit the three.

  2. Bonzi Wells - Strong, scores from the low-post, can rebound, doesn't hate Dunealvy.

  3. Ricky Davis - He can't be any worse then Rubben Patterson.

For the Min.

  1. Theo Ratlif - Can play backup minutes at the 4/5, still blocks shots.

  2. Devin Brown - a little offense, a little defense.

  3. Kareem Rush - Can hit the 3.

Singleton would actually fit the position perfectly. It's too bad Dunleavy hates him for whatever reason, he could help quite a bit

Sorry you guys, i disagree, he doesn't have the same explosivness he had with the clippers. Doesn't jump like before

The team picked up choice #3 from my first wish list, Ricky Davis. I'm hoping they pick up #1 from my second choice: Theo Ratlif. Or at least some other veteran big.

The reason that I think the Clippers should pursue him is because DeAndre Jordan won't make the greatest backup center. Carl Landry has loads of potential, and he averaged 5 points and 5 rebounds on the stacked Rockets. If the Clippers can get Carl Landry I think that every position will have depth.

Yeah, the Rockets are going to match the offer unless we give him big bucks, which unfortunately, we can't. I'd rather have us get Elton Brown.

Ok now that we have 14. are we going to resign qross?? or r we signing a new player??? and if we are signing a new person...then what postion do we need most?? and who should it be?

Strongly believe the Clippers need another PF/C to help ease the load off Brian Skinner. I would like to see Jordan get some mins but if seems the rookies Jordan and Taylor (there is an exception with Eric Gordon) might go to the reserve until injury plays a role.

Tim Thomas really has to be at the three to be effective so more so a true PF is more of a need. Carl Laundry was a good pick but cost to much, so options are limited.

It's likely that we will sign a PF/C, and not Quinton Ross. We have enough depth at his position, as Icecoldclipper said

I agree: PF/C Not enough depth of real bangers. TT can play PF, but not as a true banger.

This isn't really sign talk but rather trade talk what do you guys think about keeping C.Mobley? I'm pretty divided on what to do with Mobley. Our starting line-up tells a strong story.

PG. Baron Davis: The rebirth of his carrer and a franchise the leader of a new team.

SG. Cutino "Cat" Mobley: I want MD to do a Brett Farve type interview with Cat to see how dedicated and physically ready he is this season.

SF. Al Thorton: The young explosive player. Constantly improving, has the tools to be a future all-star. The future of this team/franchise in my opinion.

PF. Marcus Camby: Bitter and ready to prove something not only to his former team the Nuggets, but to the entire NBA that he is still a force to be reckon with. The defense presence around the paint. One half of the "Clipper Towers"

C. Chris Kaman: Fresh off his Olympic run Kaman is back better than ever. Ready to improve off a strong previous season. The offense presence in the paint. The other half of the "Clipper Towers".

I looked hard down the depth charts of all the NBA teams and saw even though some SG's might score more they don't really bring the overall effectivness as Cat. Key things like defense against bigger players, post ability, and attacking the basket.

So with that alone you know I'm not trying to bash Cat, just want to know is Cat the best choice or have I over looked a team that we could upgrade the SG spot?

Note: Has to be a trade for someone we can actually get not Cat in a deal for Bryant or Redd Smile

I'd like to keep Cat for 3 million or less a year but I'm not against trading him to get a high caliber superstar.

if not then go for elton brown i guess

If we trade Cat we'll be short a starting SG so we'll have to get another one. Remember he's gone soon and we'll need the cap space to go after AMARE!!!!! Otherwise we'll be stuck with a contract we don't want. He's a keeper. He's $$$ but that's only for two yrs.

Get Powell if we can

How about DS trades Cat mobley and a draft pick for Ben Gordon. All he has to do is contact the bulls for a sign and trade.

Cat is more solid then bgorden for this team as he bring veteren lockeroom presence plus his 2010 contract isn't worth giving up for Bg

On the other hand tt and cat for vince carter (or another allstar sg) would be worth losing the 2010 contracts, we need to win now

As for a signing if they can bring powell back it would solidify the frontcourt very nicely

I love some Vince but that would lower our defensive presence to score more.

I think a person we can get that does all the things Mobley does and scores more is Rip Hamilton.

Detriot is thinking about shaking things up. We put a draft pick (maybe two) out there with TT and Mobley and they might bite. Rip would be a perfect fit in my opinion second to that would be Joe Johnson.

With the money left can still grab Powell or maybe Carl Laundry if Houston changes their mind on him.

To echo the previous posters above, I'd also like to see Josh Powell come back. But from what I read, Powell didn't participate in the summer league despite being asked to by the team. Supposedly, this didn't endear him to the FO, which resulted in him being waived.

With everything constantly moving times like these seem very long. I want the Clippers to go ahead and make the last pick so we have a overall look at the roster.

Wouldn't be surprised if the Shaun stuff was to throw the fans off and turn around and signed him. Either that or they just sign some random guy from the D-League or International to fill the spot.

I'm for signing Carl English (team Canada) if possible seems like a hard worker. Made Kobe work on Offense and Defense earning his respect, also could toss him to the reserve and D-league to develop. Just a thought not something we have to do.

They may not finalize he roster immediately. There's still a month-and-a-half until training camp starts. Other teams have not filled their rosters yet either. Plus MDsr may want to go with only 14 players.

In the past they have signed more than 15 (some non-guaranteed) and made cuts in late October, so that may happen as well. But I don't think they're in any hurry to sign a 15th guy (who likely will not make significant contributions).

Camp should start now for the Clippers, they need all the time in the world to work all those new guys in.

Kaman in getting his action in now, just groom him in with the team later.

I wouldn't be against resigning Q.Ross at the moment. A solid defender to have on the reserve.

It will be interesting to see Powell in a Laker uniform (95% chance we will see him in the preseason opener)and the crowd reaction.

I'd have no problems bringing Q. Ross back. We could use another wing player. The only question would be if Dunleavy would still favor him over someone like Ricky because Q. plays defense.
