With the reported signing of Glen Davis, the Clippers are left with one remaining open roster spot. What needs still need to be filled and who might it be?

We have 2 spots. The way I see it is Granger, Clark and Metta should be our top targets, but we aren't getting all 3 so as long as we get a combo of those players I'm good.

And if I'm being totally honest I think OKC is the best fit for Granger, Spurs are the best fit for Clark. Hopefully we aren't stuck with just Metta.

There still will be some buy outs coming IMO let's see what falls. If nothing it should be between Granger and Clark. No to the old "World".

We have 2 Roster Spots. Hopefully Small-Forward. Granger is nice for us. We do not need him to do much , but be SOLID. Metta is too much of a nut-case for this team. Clark Ehh idk. I really want Granger. Hopefully a change of scenery for him will revamp his career.

Chris Paul - Darren Collison

JJ Reddick - Jamal Crawford

Danny Granger - Matt Barnes

Blake Griffin - Glen Davis

Dandre Jordan - THIS IS THE BACKUP SPOT TO BE WORRIED ABOUT.

Who can fill it? Lamar Odom? He is 6'11 with a huge-wingspan

Davis can/will play C most of the time. Lamar ain't happening...he will be playing in Spain.

I don't think we necessarily need a backup 5. There is no rule we need to have 15 players. Granger needs to be too target. We need a better small forward, matt barnes' great game aside.

That Is what I thought as well.

When Blake is tired or in foul trouble you run Deandre and Davis

When DJ is tired or in foul trouble you run Blake and Ivan Johnson

Will we ever see Blake and Davis on the floor together? Most certainly , but I think we need a C and Small forward with those last two spots. Danny Granger and who else

Okafor will most likely get bought out also. Anybody have updates on Okafor's health?

Here's a list from Rob Mahoney of S.I. of the potential (and some that have already been bought out) buy out list of players:

http://nba.si.com/2014/02/21/nba-buyout ... len-davis/

If we can't get Granger, I like Ronnie Brewer for his defense on the wing. Not much of a shooter to say the least, but good rebounder.

Yikes, Ronnie Brewer?

I think if we get another wing player, he should be able to hit a shot.

We have the offense, especially when Redick returns, so I'd sacrifice a little offense for some much needed D. Obviously I would take Granger 1st, but chances he gets bought out and with other teams chasing him that may/probably won't happen. Hope I'm wrong though.

Metta is a better defender than Brewer though. He's a head case, but if we are talking on the court he's a much better basketball player.

Peace can not play the guard spot it would be a good idea to get Crawford back to helping the second unit consistently.

His Per 36 numbers are right on line if not a little better than his last year on the Lakers all while fighting injuries this year. He's good to go now and would be an asset defensively for us.

He's still my #3 option after Clark and Granger though.

He is decent. Better than wayans not that it means a lot. He can score he had a few good games for the Cavs for a while.

Injuries are very common now for a player like Metta and that's a big issue. Souring faster then 4 week old milk I'm afraid.

I'm not familiar with the NBA rules, so don't bash me if this thread makes no sense, but can't we keep signing d-league players to 10-days until we find that MR. RIGHT for a back-up sg, (behind DC), AND he can be PO eligible? If we can do this, who of our Topbuzz "EXPERTS" here thinks they know who we should try out? Even if we can't do this, in your fantasy world, who should we take a look at and try out?

I think reggie showed last night that he could be the answer for our injury resulting sg problems. Collison can man the PG position for the second unit and lets get Granger integrated. It's looking good.

If that is the case we should cut Blake Griffin and sign his brother Taylor Griffin. And Cut Jared Dudley and sign Seth Curry. Now I am just joking , but there could be some hidden gems in the D-League.

I think the Clips should go after Shannon Brown. 6'4 Shooting Guard with a WHOLE LOT of athleticism. He is 28 and been in the league for 7 years. I have always liked him. I think if he wasn't on a 10-Day with the Knicks right now, he would be on the Clippers because of the injuries to Jonathan-Clay and Jamal! Still I don't know I think the Clippers will be fine and I also think Jamal and Jj will be back soon

I think the problem with digging in the D League is that you'd have to find an SG that's better than the reserve SGs the Clippers have now. Otherwise, why not just use the reserves?

Finding a starting SG from the D-League is easier said than done.

Plus, Doc has a lot of confidence in his players to play different positions if needed.

I posted this incorrectly on the Ben Gordon thread, oops:

A guy I grew up with named Scott Suggs plays for the Knicks affiliate of the D League. He is a short 6'6 shooting guard, or a tall 6'5. He has some handles and can shoot, the only problem he has is that he isn't very stocky, reminiscent of Durant a few years ago. He played preseason for the Bucks but was cut before the season started. I would be so happy to see him on a team, and preferably the Clips, I just wonder if he has what it takes to play with the big boys.

here is his profile:

http://www.nba.com/dleague/playerfile/scott_suggs/

he is actually a good friend of mine, we grew up in Augusta MO together. D-League stats should be taken with a grain of salt, but he is producing.

If we shut Redick down, I'd love the Clips to pick up World Peace. Get some toughness going into the post season.

I think we should get a true 2-guard if Redick is not for sure getting back before PO's. I'm fine with Sasha if there's nobody else out there. I don't really see Bullock as a 2-guard, ball handling leaves a lot to be desired.

Lamar? I'm not pushing for it but the timing seems interesting. Unless he has a bad pinched nerve 2-3 weeks may not be out of the question.

I'm not touting him but I wonder if Doc will.

If Darren Collison is willing to walk this off season, and Livingston wants to return home to the team he is very grateful for, Should The Clippers pursue him?

Clips could resign Baby and Granger and sign Livingston and pursue a Back Up Big in free agency or draft.

Livingston 6'7

Crawford 6'6

Granger 6'9

Baby 6'8

New C 6'10-7'0

I mean that could be a great unit. I like Collison , but I do not think he stays unless we win a Chip.

A bit pre-mature, but I wanted the team to pursue him last season. I liked him as a backup PG because he has the length to play SG or play in the back-court next to Paul without the team being undersized. I'm not sure Shaun will be so cheap anymore, if Collison decides to opt out, it is possible that they both command a similar range of salary, something in the $4M range, but who knows with all the PG's. Still, at that price it is a different story because the money isn't so plentiful.

IF Collison is gone, why not? I like Shaun, he would fit the personality of this team

How about Pau?

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/nba/ne ... be-bryant/

  • Values winning over money

  • Wants to join a title contender

  • Wants "a good situation"

I'd gladly take him... anyone else feel the same way?

Somebody will pay him more then the MLE so no.

I feel the same.

Yeah, many might be able to offer him more than the MLE, but if the last paragraph of that column is correct, he would probably rather go to a contender. Doc might be able to get him to play more defense, too.

  • values money more than you think

  • wants to join a contender while thinking he'll make the same amount of money ( thinks he deserves it)

  • true

  • he's washed up and his lack of defense and effort is second to none.

I'll gladly take a bag of chips over him.

Pau is better off played primarily a C now, and he would be a good option at C/F for this team, but Pau isn't interested in making MLE money, so that's the end of that.

  • I doubt even Pau is delusional enough to think he's worth $20 million. We'll see how free agency works out, though.

  • See above. Also, Clippers are what I would call a contender right now.

  • If by "washed up", you mean "Forced to play in Mike D'Antoni's system, practically abused by his own front office, and probably itching to find a fresh start", then yes, I agree. Is 2009-2010 Pau isn't going to be coming through that door? No, but I think he still has enough left in the tank for a backup role. I would be willing to take a chance, but only provided his paycheck isn't above the MLE. Anything more would be too expensive.

I don't how possible it is, but I'd definitely like to see Gortat with us. Maybe Xavier Henry for a young athletic SF?

I like Gortat a lot , but as what? A bench player? Do you want to trade DJ? I like Henry a lot as well , but I'd much rather see Ariza or possibly even LeBron. Even if its at the cost of a Jamal Crawford

I know DJ has made huge improvements, but lacks fundamentals. I like him, but I wouldn't mind trading him for a couple solid pieces. Maybe, a back up C and SF and getting Gortat as our starting 5. I really how trades work though, haha.
