Wait so you are going to hold it against him for not being injury prone like Bogut and helping a team like he should.lmao Think you are trolling now. Then you are acting like he was a non factor all this series. That is a joke we all knew he wouldn't be asked to do as much this series but help when he could. Games got away more often when he sat resting.

If bigs are dime a dozen we sure as hell lacked in getting them. I didn't say give him more touches though being more aggressive on the high pick roll lobs would help. I was giving credit that even without designed plays he finds ways to either get in space to score off screens or offensive rebounds.

Blake is 24 years old with a long career ahead of him. He's not even in his prime yet!

In contrast, CP3 is about to be 30 years old. He's the highest paid player on the team. He's the most ball-dominant player on the team. He's on his second team, after leaving the Hornets when he couldn't get past the second round there either. He has the coach he demanded and some of the players he's demanded. (Example: Matt Barnes - how's that worked out for us?) He's had plenty of talent around him - West, Chandler, Peja, and Blake. LeBron would have killed to have half that much help in his Cleveland days. He's widely considered the best player at his position. In the two biggest games of his career to date, he deferred over and over again to Jannero Pargo in Game 7 against the Spurs and then had that comedy of errors against OKC in Game 5.

THAT'S why CP3's being questioned more than Blake. If you want to be the highest-paid player and first option, this is the scrutiny that comes with it.

You're acting like I don't want DJ on the team. He's a great player and helped us a lot. However if we go up against OKC, Spurs, or Heat, we will not get the calls, we just won't. It's a stars league. Paul is the only player we have that gets calls, Blake is still treated like a rookie at times.

We need another big name player to be "allowed" to play against those other teams. DJ is our only trade chip worth talking about.

For me personally, a SF who is a defensive specialist is all we need for that position. Scoring is just a bonus. There aren't much threats at that spot other than Melo, LBJ, and Durant.

Also, for all the DJ talk, the biggest plus side for him is his durability.

Again you need size in the west. So unless you can grab a third key big star and then have money to replace Jordan and then add even more bigs its going to be the same issue.

So he gets a pass? B4 Paul blake was use to going on vacation in april. Never seen a playoff a day in his life.. There only 5 years apart in age so lets cut the blake is only going to keep getting better stuff. Blake this year is the best he is going to be unless he gets better on the defensive end.. He won't shoot any better from the line. 70% is great. He will never have a consistent jumper. He is best at facing up and taking his man off the dribble because of his speed and handles..He needs to get better at rebounding which i think is his biggest weakness..He is a great offensive rebounder but he sucks on the defensive boards..he doesn't box out..he just tries to jump over his man...Don't get me wrong, blake is a great talent but i don't see how can he improve much more on the offensive end. He should average 10-11 rebs a game because of his athleticism alone...You think if blake played with a different PG that his numbers would be as good as they are..CP3 gets blake at least 10pts a night on pick n rolls to the baskets and alley oops...be careful what you ask for because you can easily get one of those shoot 1st PG's in here and then you guys would really be complaining. Stockton never won the big one and it took him years to get out the 2st round...Give it time man..Stop being so critical. I guarantee you CP3 won more games than he lost for us. Trust you don't want that trigger happy shoot 1st PG paired with blake

The reason why we loss does not hinge on only Paul or Blake.

I never knew that one player was all that determined a series until today. Some of you must be Skip Bayless fans cause your logic is awful.

Basketball is not 1v1 game. We were extremely close to beating the Thunder and frankly may have won the series if not for extremely questionable calls. We still have a lot of room to improve when it comes to our wings and our backup bigs. I am not worried.

Except game 5 was lost by the mistakes of one player...Chris Paul. So that argument doesn't fly. But also this is a team sport, but it's a star driven league. Can't win without them so they get the credit and blame. If he didn't want that pressure he shouldn't play on a big market and he should

Take mid level exception money

This whole chain is moot if the sterling stink is hanging over us by July. My nightmare is that all teams improve except for us. I could see good free agents choosing Portland or golden state over us considering what is happening.

This article covers pretty much all we need except, I believe, they did not mention signing or trading for a legitimate SF (BleacherReport):

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2049 ... -offseason

I think the Clippers should draft a big, or maybe even T.J. Warren if he is available. You can then sign Ariza to whatever amount of $. Next, you sign Pierce and bring back Elton Brand both for vet. minimum. Thoughts?

In his two seasons before CP3, Blake was out all year with an injury and then had one of the best rookie seasons in NBA history with a poor supporting cast and terrible coach. Two years is nothing in this league. You are being intellectually dishonest.

Quote:
CP3 gets blake at least 10pts a night on pick n rolls to the baskets and alley oops...

Oh really? Then explain how Blake was dominating with CP3 out injured. And don't even trot out the excuse about losing to elite teams, because one of his best games in that stretch was against Miami. He just had zero help from his teammates that game.

I'm not surprised that CP3 stans love to bash Blake when their boy chokes. After all, CP3's been deflecting to him all year, starting with his preseason comments about Blake "needing to be the closer" (with how CP3 choked Game 5 away, I can see why he wants someone else to be the closer) all the way up to him saying "we need BG" after he choked away Game 1 against the Warriors at the free throw line. Sorry haters, but Blake is the fan favorite and the face of the franchise, not CP3. Blake can't be the sidekick and scapegoat if we want to win a ring. Deal with it.

Not to mention the year before Paul came the clippers made a run at a playoff spot. They had a terrible start to the season that doomed them in the end. Paul is a great point guard. But we need a superstar whose responsibility is to score. Blake could be that but he needs to figure out how to defend without fouling and he needs to be more dominant and assertive. He still feels like a robin. That's something in his chest that he needs to sort out.

I don't want to trade Paul but we have to improve this team.'its almost but not quite good enough. Too many streaky regular season players.

Even in Blake's first year, I remember there being hope that Blake would be ready for the second half of the year and that we could make the playoffs with him. The season only spiraled downhill in January with the combination of the infamous water-main game in Memphis and the news that Blake was going to miss the whole season. We were only one game under .500, on a 4-game winning streak, and were whooping the Grizzlies in Memphis until that water main broke, the Blake news came out (IIRC, it was that very same night during the game) and everything went to ****.

Well CP is selling more jerseys than he is so I wouldn't say he's the outright fan favorite. I think you're also being a hypocrite. When "your boy" Blake chokes, you immediately deflect blame onto someone else. It's fine if you criticize Chris, but you just constantly are on here with irrational hate and use any bit of info to bash him (like that idiotic tweet yesterday) that it's kind of pathetic. Looks like you're trying to convince yourself more than anyone else on Blake. And I find it ironic that you call me a CP Stan when you're here doing the same thing with Blake and as I quote, "riding his ****" ( or something like that) all the time. Wink

You're assuming only Clipper fans are buying his jersey. There are plenty of player-only fans and people who like to wear jerseys regardless of teams that figure into jersey sales.

Quote:

Wrong. During the games he played badly in this postseason, I criticized him.

When CP3 chokes, his stans blame Blake, talk about how "we used to be a lottery team without CP3," complain about refs, etc.

Ok I'm sorry there is no way Chris Paul sells more jerseys than blake. Where are you getting that number? Id say 70

Percent of fans wearing jerseys at games are sporting good old 32.

There was an article about jersey sales released about a month ago. Chris was three or four spots higher than Blake. CP is probably more popular outside the LA.

Repped High Quality Post

Top 10 jersey sales are on NBA.com. Anyway, why are we arguing about bashing OUR stars. No one should even bash either of them, because matter-of-fact we would be in the lottery trying to figure out who we would draft with that potential top-3 pick if it weren't for BOTH of our stars. You aren't a fan in my eyes if you bash any stars on your "favorite" team, especially when both of them have high-potential to be hall-of-famers.

Wow ok we aren't fans if we don't worship at the altar of Chris Paul? I'm sorry that is just not the case. We have every right to be critical of our 105 million dollar man. Some of us aren't satisfied with second round exits when a team actually played like the best team in the league for stretches. There is clearly some intangible missing in our stars.

Sorry to say, but there was no way we were going to win that series against OKC with the way the refs were handling the calls. It isn't even Chris' fault, he put up gaudy numbers (@Caplan_NBA: Chris Paul put up these numbers and lost: 22.5 ppg, 12.0 apg, 3.7 rpg, 51.0 FG%, 45.5 3FG%) and if you are going to blame him, than I am just speechless as to how ignorant that would be. Yes, he had mistakes in Game 5, but you can't do **** about that with the way the last minute was handled by the refs. Our supporting cast is what needs improvement, not our stars and frankly, we wouldn't even be playing in that series if it weren't for our so-called "105 Million Dollar Man."

IIRC, we blew leads in every game except for our two wins. That's on us, not the refs. This series was a chokejob.

Chris Paul had huge turnovers in both game 5 and 6 that screwed us. Our core of stars is not perfect they all

Have issues. Just being positive to be positive is not helpful. I'm not saying trade Paul. But something has to change. He needs to be more D wade and griffin needs to be lebron. Paul reverted back to ball dominating in the post season when what was working was blake being the person through whom we ran the offense. Blake needs to be way more of a traditional leader - vocal and demanding the ball. Chris shouldn't talk as much. I want blake to feel the pressure and take over. I want Chris on my team.

I don't want him as our batman. He's too easily neutralized and as we've seen prone to meltdowns.

The refs can't make you miss shots or stop the other team from getting open looks. If we got hosed it was because of lackadaisical play and an inability to close out quarters.

Blake was 8-20 so he wasn't lighting it up, although he did make some phenomenal passes. He had an amazing game 2 and we still lost. If anything, Chris has to be way more aggressive and stop settling for jumpers. An aggressive Chris Paul opens up our entire offense and gets easy looks for Blake and the whole team.

We won 57 games this year. I never know why many people want to completely break down a team. I'd give Granger and Baby another shot. They came in the middle of the season , and Granger was hurt for a while. As far as Pierce I just believe he would turn into another Dudley , even though the play of both players is incomparable. From what I am being told is that Davis, Granger and Collison will OPT IN

As pointed out by B/R The Clippers need the following

1.) More Shooting.

I'd have to agree. We need more reliable shooting. I'd much rather have Mo Williams running the bench point than Collison -- because of the ability to hit a jumper. Collison can , but his release take him a while to get a shot off. We had a lot of inconsistent players -- Jared Dudley

2.) Legitimate Front Court Depth.

WoW! Our bench this season was very lacking in controlling things defensively and offensively. With a bench like Bledsoe,Crawford,Barnes,Odom,Turiaf we could play defense and Jamal and other could do the scoring. This year I believe we had too much scoring and No Defense. No Rim protector when DJ goes out. Now I like Big Baby, I believe he was out of shape and it was still taking him a while to get acclimated. I hope he returns with a legitimate center behind him. I was sick to my stomach to see Davis play the 5-Center. Hollins is no more.

I heard someone mention Elton Brand returning for a final run in the NBA --

Could He Do It? I have no clue , but if we kept Davis and signed Brand do you realize how slow that frontcourt would be with , as some want him off the bench , Pierce, Davis, and Brand.

You know who is an UFA 2013-2014?

Brandon Wright! A guy who I would love on this team

Very Athletic and has better hands can come in for DJ and we don't lose any length or shot blocking and he can FTs. That and Davis together would work wonders. Brand can return as just a veteran presence.

Then I'd say put Barnes on the bench along with Granger as a 3rd string or him and Barnes can exchange minutes, I think Barnes goes actually. Granger would be nice to come off the bench , but Barnes may stay and return to his 12-13 role of off the bench energy and defense guy

3.) Guarantee Jamal's Contract

No matter how you try to shake it or bake it, Jamal was very important to this team. We need him to come in and give us buckets. Not to mention what he did when Chris and JJ went down. He had two years left , but I don't believe either is guaranteed. I say we keep him. If anyone we should let walk it might be Collison. He is good , but I think we could find a better option , but at the price we got him. HE WAS AN ABSOLUTE STEAL.

Now, we know we have set starters except for the dreaded small forward position.

Many here want Ariza , but he is not leaving Washington after the year they had , and Rumors show that the Wizards want to resign both.

I do not want a star, I want a contributor, I want someone when there shots aren't falling they impact the game somewhere else -- defensive end in particular

My Top Guys

1.) Loul Deng

Great versatility... Good scoring and passing skills... Can put the ball on the floor... Good mid-range game... High basketball IQ... Pretty athletic... Very long... Plays with good attitude... A defensive ace... Not a great three-point shooter.

2.) Marvin Williams

Great athlete... Runs the floor well... Pretty good shooter... Looking great from the three-point line now... Has not lived up to lofty expectations.

3.) Francisco Garcia

Decent all-around skills... Very good shot blocker for his position... Good locker room presence.

Of Course there a LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony , but the more stars you have the more negative and positive and just over all attention it brings to your team. The Clippers have had enough attention lately. We just need to win, fly under the radar like the Spurs. No one talks about them until the end of the regular season when the real season begins.

Does DC walk? Does he want to win or does he want to start some place and gain more money? Same with Granger and Davis?

If Collison is done I say Mo Williams.

Guy is just a beast. I love the guy. I wish he never left the Clips. I hope he comes here. Has a nice jumper and is just overall smarter than Collison

Doc Rivers has even said that Collison isn't a passer - paraphrased , but he said something to the extent the DC doesn't know how to pass, that he isn't a playmaker I believe is the term Doc used

My Wish Team For My Los Angeles Clippers Next Season

PG - Chris Paul

SG - JJ Reddick

SF - Loul Deng

PF - Blake Griffin

C - DeAndre Jordan

Bench

PG - Mo Williams

SG - Jamal Crawford

SF - Matt Barnes or Danny Granger

PF - Glen "Big Baby" Davis

C - Brandon Wright

3rd String

Willie Green

Elton Brand

Hedo Turkoglu

Ryan Hollins -- was a good guy, great energy on the bench.

A rookie, whomever we may draft

Give Me Some Feedback On What You Guys Think. I really took time on this. I have no idea how money would work out , but our entire bench except for Jamal could be on a Veteran Min which could be good contractually. I think a team like this... Can really win it all. The team this year I had a lot of doubts. I mean look at how many players we signed on 10 Days? That means we were still searching halfway through the season. Players were constantly trying to adjust. If we can sign these group of guys above and have that type if team with no 10 days , unless someone is just hurt. I think this team could very well bond closely and go for it all. I like that team.

ClipperKyle, I say no to Mo Williams. Yeah, he can hit jumpers at times, but his low basketball IQ will cost the Clips at others.

As for your list of small forwards, I like Luol Deng the most out of them all. Yeah, he can't hit the three point shot all that well, but he's a great defender who will play hard night in and night out. He also is a decent slasher, and he knows most of Doc's defensive system already due to being under Thibedou's tutelage. The only doubt I have is if he'll take less to play with a contender like the Clippers, since we all know the Cavs will throw all the money they can at him to stay.

Marvin Williams is alright, but he seems more like a power forward than a small forward. I would take him over Garcia though, who I have my doubts about.

Where did you hear that they will opt in?

I think thatsw good news. Big Baby provides hustle at the 4 + floor spread. Collison does decent as a back up and had his moments. I think granger needs more time to get the swing of things but i did see him play great defines and he started well with us offensively.

HELL NO to Granger!!! Collison opting in is actually a good thing. We can package him along with Barnes and/or Dudley. We need size. I know it's early but this is the roster I would like to see

CP3 / Livingston/

JJ / Jamal

Ariza / Pierce / Bullock

Blake / Blatche

DJ/ J.Hill

I don't think we need Carmelo, but I wouldn't mind him on the team either. It's going to be a fun off season. Hopefully we draft a serviceable player who can make an immediate impact , whether it be in limited minutes or something greater.

Melo and Deng are almost impossible to acquire. They both would be earning some dough. Do you see any of them taking way less?? Sign and trade for who?? Bullock??? What else??

I like the Ariza and Shaun Livingston idea. We need length. PP as a back up?? Keeps him fresh for the playoffs.

Jordan hill could help too. Lots of energy and serviceable J.

Anyone else feeling depressed about this off season? No draft pick to really salivate over, agonizing end to playoffs, sterling/ownership drama, confusion over whether any free agents would come here (we had been counting on this situation being so desirable that people might cut their rate like collison to play here but I don't see that happening).oh and no cap space

I feel the exact opposite as you (no surprise). I'm excited we have a 1st round pick in a very deep draft. I'm excited about who's going to purchase our team and be hungry enough to win to go over the cap. I'm excited about all the free agents that will still want to play with Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan and be coached by Doc Rivers.
