He was a great backup big for us when he was here. Good Passer, High IQ , We didn't need him to score much, great defender, his P&R defense was superb. He took a year out of the league and hopefully got his head right. If he can return to atleast 12-13 Clipper form. He could be great for us. I assume Ray Allen was washed up too , and look what he did for Miami in the Playoffs and Finals....

If I was doc this is how I would do the off season..... 1) trade Barnes and Crawford for luol deng in a sign and trade deal with the cavs 2)sign Rodney stuckey to a mid level exception deal ( he was willing to sign with the warriors for mle before they used it for Livingston) 3) get involved in the trade talks between the piston and the kings convincing the kings to swap dudley and bullock for Carl laundry 4) convinces Paul pierce....

Ray Allen has never been washed up. Odom on the other hand has been washed up like 3 or 4 different times.
I am basing his profiling of being washed up off AGE not PRODUCTION. People consider PaulPierce OVER-THE-HILL OLD and Former Celtic , but his production says otherwise. Many people profile players a washed-up because of age. IDK what he was basing that off of. Odom has been "washed" up ONCE or had a washed up year ONCE after coming....

All true, but come ON NOW, he still washed up. Next.
"still" He wasn't washed up with us. He contributed quite well. He has other issues and therefore was not brought back due to concerns about those issues. Took the year off. We havent seen him play. not even with Spain. he barely played. He claimed to have a "back injury" because the Knicks as well as US were looking to sign him. We havent seen enough of him to....

Just because Odom's story is a sad one, it doesn't change the fact that on the court he's been done for years. Being washed up has nothing to do with age, it has do with being terrible at basketball. Odom has been terrible at basketball for like 3 years. Do we also sign Allen Iverson just because he's been through some tough times?
wow... really. that isn't even what I am saying. He hasn't been done for years. He had a down....

how many power forwards are seen every day being thrown on a small forward, SG , or PG. How much sense does that make. that never happens. unless they switch which never happens. You don't switch a perimeter player....

I remember watching him play on the clippers before he went to the lakers... he could play all the positions... then he got in trouble for smoking pot and got suspended then he left the clippers and went to the lakers... jackson kept him out of trouble... then he married into the car-trash-ian family... then he started partying with his wife... then the accident.. then he tried to play overseas somewhere... lasted 2 weeks, if he cannot make it there... there is no way he is doing anything in the nba.. the....

I don't get the Odom argument, he was already washed up when we got him. That doesn't mean he couldn't still do things, but in comparison to just two seasons before, he was significantly worse, what is there to argue? That's him being washed up isn't it? ....

Once we get a SF out two targets should be Ed Davis and Greivis Vazquez. Also Andray Blatche if he is available. All of these guys can most likely be bad for cheap and would be upgrades over last year including Vazquez over Collison. ....

Blatche will need full MLE most likely, I mean look at the contracts Jodie Meeks, etc are getting, so probably not him. Ed Davis seems to be in our path, and Vasquez wouldn't be bad, but we'll see what our money situation it. Jason Smith wouldn't be bad as a 4th big. Blake Griffin / Ed Davis DeAndre Jordan / Jason Smith That's not a bad big rotation. Smith can play as a stretch big who can still block shots and grabs about 8....

If we could sign Vazquez for the BAE then Blatche would be worth the MLE as he could be a starter at any point if griffin or Jordan go down. He is a good player on both sides and actually a decent passer as well. I like Ed Davis but Blatche is a more complete player and we wouldn't lose too heavy of production if he had to start.
I think BAE is less than Vasquez's previous contract.....

Patrick Patterson at 3 years / $18M, I think the price is set for most above average type guys to get at the least the MLE (which is how it should be), so we have to be thinking from working from that reference point. The barely averagish guys are getting $4-5M/year too though. One might have to wait till the dust settles if you're trying to get anyone at a bargain. I'm going to put out another name for us, and that....

I don't know, what do you expect us to have done so far? Teams are re-signing their own FA's, we didn't want to pay ours big money and are prioritizing FA's who are out of our price range and require other teams co-operation, but would be valuable (Deng). We might not be ready to make any moves with Ed Davis', etc until we settle the whole situation with Deng, and we might, who knows. Cleveland might not be moving forward....

Jordan Hamilton isn't a signing where you'd be jumping for joy if you sign him, but he'd be a really nice pickup who I can see being a starter. He's gonna be a stud if given starter minutes. He's a really low risk with a really high reward. ....

^^^ I am not surprised. I think bosh is realizing he can still win and get paid if he leaves. Plus he will get a lot more credit if he goes to a Houston and they win a title. IMO, if they can resign Chandler, that team is definitely better than Miami. They can probably add terrence jones or montiejunas as sweeteners to a Lin and asik trade. ....

I honestly don't know about his defense. He's only played on Denver and Houston...not really the best teams to showcase your defense. But he is 6'8.5" 228lb with almost a 6'10" wingspan. So he has potential if he's wiling to learn. ....

I mean it wouldn't be bad to get Hamilton, but I just imagined we were trying to get some defenders, and he's certainly not known for his defense, though he can shoot. I don't know, I'd rather get a defender first. He's not a special offensive player either. He can shoot the three but doesn't get to the basket or the line well and isn't very efficient, but he does rebound well. ....

Would love to have waiters coming off the bench or starting. He can shoot well (finally getting more comfortable in the NBA it seems), is cheaper than jamal (about $1mm less) and has a lot of upside still ....

Problem is that we can't take players and give cap space, so it won't work with us. They'll have to trade him to a team like Philly, etc who have cap space to absorb a contract. I know some others might not be thinking of it, but I'm really warming up to the idea of giving Thaddeus Young a chance as a SF on this team.....

I really like Thaddeus Young, I'm just not sure I like him on this team. I like his defense and slashing ability, but I don't like it enough to ignore his bad 3PT shooting. I was willing to look past Deng's bad 3PT shooting because he's a superior defender. If Thad is gonna work with Bob Thate then I'd be a little more confident in trading for him. ....

I think Thad would be a great backup plan. I honesty don't think his 3 pt shooting would hurt us that bad. We would be better with a rebounding slashing defensive SF than a perimeter only player, especially with Hawes. We struggled in many games where we shot high volume 3 pointers. Teams that live and die by the 3 usually struggle. The Spurs would have high volume games but used the 3 to spread....

That's the one thing that really made me want a big that can shoot three's, it is that we wouldn't have to have a great 3PT shooter at one of the wing spots because the big would help spread the floor. I also like the idea of Young because we make up for a lot of the length we lack at PG/SG and PF. Young with a 6'11.5 wingspan and an 8'10 standing reach actually has more length than Blake (6'11.25....

You've sold me on Thad. Length was our Achilles heel last season along with defense, but those two usually go hand in hand. It's also very important to try and trade for players who are in their prime and Young will be hitting his prime next season.
Now we just need one of the front office guys to sell Doc on Thad and then we need to sell Philly on taking our players, lol ....
