I bet the Rockets put in a waiver pickup for Boozer. Good thing that they will need to decide on Parsons first though.

What's Hedo Turkeglu's story? Do you think he will sign for vet minimum?

Boozer would be great in a CP3 pick and pop... but with Boozer and Hawes as our backups, that's a bit of a sieve on defense

Agent brought up that when Parker was out or even when he doesn't handle the ball, Ginobili and Diaw facilitate quite a bit. Agree and we don't have that luxury because Reddick is not that great of a facilitator to be honest (not on a Ginobili level of ball movement and kick outs when penetrating) but Blake is almost as good of a passer as Diaw and Hawes puts us a little closer to Duncan's ball distribution. We really needed another solid ball handler who will actually move the ball especially since Jamal isn't the best distributor.

and to anyone who is thinking, "look at the stats!! These guys average assists, he is a good passer!" Iverson averaged a lot of steals and was a horrible defender. Assists alone doesn't mean someone is a good facilitator.

Jason Smith, Ekpe Udoh, and Kris Humphries should be able to be had for cheap. All those guys can bang even more so Jason and Kris and we can build on Ekpe.

Caron Butler just got $4.5mil a year. There's not a chance in hell we can get Marion for the vet min.

Pretty embarrassing for Dudley that even in an NBA where washed-up Caron is getting stupid money, his $4.2 mil a year is so toxic that not even the dumbest and worst teams are willing to put it on their books.

Marion was never going to go for the min. S&T only way to make it happen for us as I mentioned before.

Since Detroit signed Caron Butler & DJ Augustin. Peyton Siva will be waived. He will be a free agent on 7/20.

The only minimum SF might end up being Wesley Johsnon as so far it doesn't seem like anyone is too interested in him, but that never means anything. A team taking a chance on him won't cry about $3-4M. Pelicans want Aminu back it seems from what their fans are saying, so if that's the case, there's no hope there.

The other problem we face is that we can't just add a SF without getting rid of one of our SF's. Currently we have.

SG: Redick / Jamal / Wilcox

SF: Barnes / Dudley / Bullock

Seems excessive to add another wing and then have 7 players at 2/5 positions. It really seems like we have to sign and trade if we want to add a SF, or trade a SF and get another guy.

Honestly, I wouldn't waste any $ on him or Evan Turner. Now those 2 can (actually are) be considered bust from where they were taken in the 2010 draft (2&4). Hopefully we can do better in a trade.

Wesley sucks. Not sure how getting him will help with anything. 3rd stringer SF at best if even that. Rather develop our rookies who seem injury prone.

For the vet min we aren't going to get a well rounded player. The best we can hope for is a young-ish player who's being overlooked and has potential to be molded into what we need.

Wesley Johnson is 6'7" with a 7'1" wingspan and max athleticism.

He's not going to be a knockdown shooter (even though he was 37% from 3 last year) or a shot creator, but he can be a very nice defensive player who can guard positions 2-4 and finish lobs. That's about all we need from the SF position.

If you guys can find a better option for the vet minimum, be my guest an present me that player.

Trade JJ reddick to raptors for Amir Johnson

Trade matt Barnes, dudley and 1st rounder for Jeff green

Sign Brandon rush to vets minimum

Sign john salmon to vets minimum

We will finally vet some height, defense, and keep shooting in Brandon rush

Cp3/farmar

Rush/Crawford/wilcox

Green/Salmon's/bullock

Griffin/ Johnson

Deandre Jordan/ hawes

Well Boston won't accept the Green trade, but if they do, why do all the other trades? Don't you think it would make more sense to just leave the rest and roll with that?

The only trade that would matter is getting Green. Salmons is really bad now, and Rush can't be pencilled in as a started until you see his level of play now. Raptors start Lowry and DeRozan and have Vasquez off the bench as a SG/SF, so they don't need Redick at all, but getting a Johnson gives us too man good big men without enough minutes to go around.

It's kind of weird to pay Johnson $6-7M and Hawes $5-6M for them to be playing about 12 MPG and 12-14MPG each off the bench, that's some bad money management right there.

And Green is not worth that trade anyway. Now Danny or Gerald that's a different story, lol.

I see a bit of the Thaddeus Young situation in Green. Not very good when they are being forced to play a first option type role, but much better when they are used as a 3rd/4th option type guy.

Offensively though, Thad is far superior to Green outside of 3PT shooting, but Thad's defense at SF isn't as sure, I'll have to watch some film, while Green can do this:

Is Casspi really an upgrade over Barnes / Dudley on either end though?

It seems like unless we're getting an upgrade or a young defensive guy to develop, adding another below average to average level SF might be too much in terms of how many SG/SF players we have.

We have 11 players on the roster (Paul, Farmar, Redick, Crawford, Wilcox, Barnes, Dudley, Bullock, Griffin, Jordan, Hawes). We'll go to a minimum of 13 and there's a max of 14. We have 3 big men right now. 2 PG's, 3 PF/C and 6 SG/SF. I think we at least get a third PG (Delonte West maybe) and a 4th big man, that puts us at 13. There might not be much more movement going on for us anymore in terms of free agent signings.

He's actually been killing it in Drew and looks to be in good shape. I'd actually love to have him back as a third guard for limited minutes.

Omri Casspi is a slight upgrade over Matt Barnes. If you can get Casspi for the veteran minimum you must do it!

Casspi: 12.91 PER last season (had same 12.9 PER in 12-13 season as well)

Barnes: 12.05 PER last season (PER was 15.5 in 12-13. Big fall off which explains why he's on the trading block).

Dudley: 8.91 PER last season (PER was 14.89 in 12-13.)

If you can get Casspi for the veteran's minimum you must do it! Not because he's better than Barnes, but because Barnes then becomes the backup SF rather than Dudley.

I think we need a slasher in a big way, With the passing ability of BG and Spencer Hawes when their at the top of the key with the ball they could pick apart a defense if you had a cutter slashing with an outside shooter keeping them honest. Hawes with his height would be an awesome play maker from the top of the key because he can pass over the top set a pick or drive if lane open.

Uhhhh, what?

Hawes wanted to come here bad. He even said he'd take a pay cut before we were mentioned as interested in him. Doc promptly went after Farmar days before Collison left. What bigs were out there that are black and in the MLE range...Better than Hawes? Why did Doc seem intent on offering Farmar a contract before Collison left? Why didn't he wait for say, DJ Augustin, or other PG's that were in that range and black?

Using your rationale, " Doc doesn't like black people"

If we add a wing to the team i hope we are interested on someone who plays defense.no more paul guarding a durant in the playoffs and based on the sfs left in the market marion is the only guy i want in this team.if marion goes elsewhere trade is the next reliable option.

I agree we do need a defensive SF I also feel we need a defensive SG but having Shawn Marion would be a great addition to the team. He's still a solid defender and could blend in well with Doc's system. Plus offensively he could surprise most being on our fast break fast pace team just like Matt Barnes did his first year with the team.
