The Nuggets did not advance out of the first round with their Allen Iverson-Carmelo Anthony-Camby core and, according to sources, opted to shed the remaining two years on Camby's contract (worth nearly $15 million) to create the flexibility that could allow for more changes. - from the espn article just realeased

good news!...that means that his final two years are at around $8 and $7 mil and not the reported $10 or so mil espn had earlier.....

if i'm not mistaken that leaves us with around $4-6 mil left to sign FA's!...good place to be with an already strong lineup in place....just need to add a couple more pieces....

    It should leave $4M.

    $12M in cap - $8M CAmby = $4M in space.

thats based on us keeping powell, fazekas, and a couple others right?....because weren't they reporting that we could've offered josh smith as much as $14 mil starting?...

Yeah your correct Krapper11. Not sure about Nick (Is Nick still under contract with us?) but dropping Powell would give us more money. As of now we wouldn't need both Nick and Powell, or either for that matter, seeing as we have Camby, TT, and Jordan Kamn down low. Nick and Powell can't play 3 right Wink

Yeah because they (the bench) were salary cap holds. Renouncing them frees cap but keeping them doesn't eat it up (esp. since they make the Min.

Well apparently it's $10 mil after bonuses, etc. So we only have $2 mil left- apparently according to the Times.

i say we keep both....especially with camby's injury history and the fact that he's gonna be 35 next year....both are reliable options for the minimum....

well espn reported it to be $15 commbined for two years....i think his starting salary is $8 mil and with bonuses he could probably hit $10....does that means he counts as $8 or $10 towards our cap?...anybody know?...

Yeah that's a good point^^^ at least Powell. I think Powell a bit better of a player than Nick.

Josh Powell and Tim Thomas bring different looks at PF than Marcus Camby. I think Josh Powell stays for sure.

yea, can't remember which article, but i interpreted it as YES, the bonuses do count against the cap....unfortunately...but fortunately, the bonus, at least most of it, is based on games played, which will make camby play through the pinky sprains he was famous for in his early years

What about Paul Davis. He was starting to do well. Kinda feel bad for him. Any room for him on our roster....kinda a lot of big men with Camby, TT, Jordan, and Kaman. We're still short at the SF position.

paul davis and nick fazekas are complete scrubs..so i don't care if we sign one of 'em or neither..jus hopefully not both...powell will contribute nicely off bench with defense, thanks to his opportunity to develop last year....we really should focus on strengthening our bench now with what money we have left, including the MLE...please keep an eye out on legit rumors and keep postin'em!! thanks!

paul davis: what a disappointment after a mcdonald's all-american and dominant high school career....

Yeah Davis has struggled but seemed to be developing. Hopefully he gets picked up somewhere if we decide not to resign him.

Yeah he's a good kid. There was an article about him after we lost Brand and he was told by the Clippers they would resign him but then he didn't hear anything back from the FO. Then we lost Brand and his whole perspective changed. He never realized the business side of the NBA and said he'll be more assertive in finding a home whether with us or someone else.

You could tell from the article he's a really nice guy.
