That explains your name.

You don't get many Clipper fans in England but then again you don't get many NBA fans at all. It's all football over here (soccer).

Hey all ! As my username suggests, I like both the Lakers and Clippers. Why? because they are both from LA and I love all my LA teams. I'm honestly more of a Lakers fan as I watched them since 2000 because of my family but still would root for Clips. I was wondering why Lakers fans and Clippers fan can't get along for when we share the same city. I actually want to hear what you guys think about it.

I'm from Jersey and grew up liking both the Giants AND the Jets as well as the Mets AND the Yankees (who don't worry I loathe now like a good American). I was definitely in the minority but that being said... Those teams share the same city and some even the same stadium (hell the poor Jets had to play in Giants Stadium) but not the same division! And therein lies the (ahem) division. For example I loved the Nets and Devils but DESPISED the Knicks and Rangers. So the Clips and the Flakes are in a truly unique situation. Yes the Nets moved into the City but different building different borough. I have met people like you though friend and they love our basketball teams and the Dodgers and Kings. Something to be said for loving your city and their squads. But being an old school Nets and Devils fan they lived in the shadow of the Knicks and Rangers for so long that its hard not to love them that much more. Anybody who loves the Clips is doing something right but come on man... The Lakers? They're more a Minneapolis team to me Wink

Here's the simple answers

#1 reason, stated in your original post

#2 lakers fans think they are the only team in the NBA

Nothing against you personally but here's why

No Clipper Nation would ever go to an LAL/SAS game and wear a Griffin jersey. Some LAL "fans" still wear #8. They are too cheap to buy #24 or don't know he changed.A huge percentage only know Kobe and can't name the rest of the squad. Any Clipper Nation can tell you most of the squad for the last five years. I was at a LAC/??? game and some a*shole was wearing a Kobe jersey and looked at me and said "Go Lakers" I laughed in his face. He probably didn't know LAL was tanking. Clipper fans would never do that. No Clipper Nation would ever boo LAL on their own court. I've never seen any other team's fans do that. It's rude and disrespectful.

LAL had to hire security on two sepatate occasions to keep the fat bald headed cholos from burning peoples' cars. The closest Clipper Nation comes to that is buying the bacon hotdogs. Boston fans are a bit much but LAL fans take it to another universe

None understand that going to the LAL was D12's punishment per D12. They don't undersatnd why as a necessary business move CP3 couldn't ever go to LAL. They also don't understand that there can be only one bulldog in the yard and CP3 won't kiss Kobe's shorts. He would not re sign

They believe LAL will continue to be great even though a reasonable logical analysis shows that they are excreta for 3 - 5 years. Kobe has ?? one year?? left and his $$ is 30 mil. Pau is $20 mil. Their present payroll is WAY WAY over the cap. They have no good draft picks. What will they do? Sign Elgin Baylor and buy him a decent toupee?. Kobe, Pau, Nash and probably Metta are gone in two years. They believe D12 will sign with LAL. He'd have to be sharing the pipe with Ricky Davis. Houston??

My LAL "fans" at work are rude and dismissive. They will never say that we're OK. We're still booger eaters. Strangely enough I've told them LAL should make the PO's and with luck #6. They laugh at me. Kobe is a jackass but a warrior. I've said he can will his team to the PO's and they laugh. I have more faith in LAL than they do.

Nothing personal but that's why

^ Heard my laker-"fan" neighbor talking obnoxiously loud on his cellphone during last year's playoffs...

"We should hang out, dude...watch the laker game at a bar? ...of COURSE, man... I'm a HUUUUUUUUUUGE laker fan!!! ...when are they playing next?"

What kind of "huuuuuuge" fan doesn't know when his team's next playoff game is?

Just shook my head and laughed at him.

Agreed.

Everytime another team does well or their lakers get criticized they get defensive saying, "our team is still better. Look at all those banners." I just hate it when they bring history up. We all know their history and we're talking about the present. They are also very disrespectful to a lot of the other good teams, but especially to us when we have any success. There's too many of those types of laker fans out there.

To the rational, fair, civil laker fans out there, I have no problems with them and I have respect for them.

So lakes and clips, even though its odd for someone to like both, I have no problem with that. As long as you're not like many of the other irrational laker fans out there, you're good.

Symbolically the Lakers represent everything that I hate about Hollywood. The phony, pretentious, ponytail gold chain wearing producers that I deal with everyday. The lip injected, implant, look at me personalities in the stands.

generally speaking, most Clip fans know more about the NBA than Laker fans.we have been through all the suffering so we learn about the draft, salary cap,and other details while Laker fans just think they can get whoever they want, whenever they want.they are like the spoiled rich kid who never had to work for anything so they think that's how the world works.with the new CBA rules, that will change.talking to my Laker fan buddies,it seems they don't even realize there has been a change.all they say is "we wil just pay Lebron the most money because of the TWC deal".we Clipper fans are more humble.as we should be.we haven't won anything yet.Laker fans don't want to admit that even for a few years, the Clippers may actually be the better team.

If Shaq and Kobe hadn't been such spoiled babies they could have had the greatest dynasty ever. Welcome to LAL

We don't expect any LAL fan to say that we're better than they are. Just admit we're good and stop the insults.

Example that DTS is cheap.

I wish it were that easy, but its not. Unfortunately, sports are competitive. For decades the script was the same here the Lakers hoisted the NBA's most coveted trophy and the Clippers waited to see if the ping pong balls would fall our way. Jerry Buss would magnificently put together a superstar team every year and the clippers would see any player worth signing leave the team first chance they got. The Lakers were the gold standard and the clippers were the punch line. But then all that changed in 2009. The ping pong balls fell our way and we got the #1. Would you beleive that the Clippers finally found a player to build a franchise around after so many failed attempts in the likes of ODom, Kaman, Livingston, and countless others that just werent that good. It took a year but the NBA finally got to witness the dynamic dunks of a player that I believe was the spark that changed the culture of this team. This wasnt another Odom (a talented but enigmatic player); this guy was the real deal and you knew things were gonna be different. So the Clippers found their guy and the reaction accross the hall was unbelievalbe. Rather than "congratulations you guys finally have someone to build around" the reaction from Lakers fans was "Boy, he's gonna look good in purple and gold." Even the tools on ESPN Max Kellerman, Mason, and Ireland all believed it was only a matter of time until the Lakers stole BGriffin like they have countless other stars. But he didnt bolt. Griffin has remained loyal. And the following year the Clippers quietly got Mo Williams, Caron Butler, Chauncey Billups of off bids, and added some good draft picks. Then the biggest dominoe fell. Talks between the Lakers and New Orleans for a Chris Paul trade fell through because Stern correctly smelled yet another robbery. The Lakers didnt actually want to give up any assets that would make that trade fair, and when they realized that Stern wasnt going to simply give away Chris Paul the Lakers backed out. Then the unbelievable happend the team that stepped up to offer the Hornets a package was little brother, the Clippers. but unlike the last discussions this one actually went down. The guy closest to resembling magic Johnson went to the Clippers...oh ****. The order had been revamped. Here was the one of thebest point guards of our generation joining Blake griffin, Chauncey Billups, Deandre Jordan, ERic Bledsoe, CAron Butler, and others to predictably form a playoff team. The reaction across the hall: "we got robbed!" Fast forward to the start of this year the Clippers again quielt yput together a great team by adding Jamal Crawford, Lamar Odom, Grant Hill, Matt Barnes, and Ronnie Turiaf. The rection accross the hall? Well, just listen to long time and "knowledgeable" laker fan Ice Cuce give his take on the Clippers. His view is shared by many laker fans mind you. Link Now we get to the current point in the season. We have taken the series from the Lakers-the first time since what feels like forever. The reaction accross the hall? "You will never own L.A." Im not naive enough to beleive that all Lakers fans are ass##les. There are some good ones out there, and I go on LTB daily to read the threads. I would like to particularly single out Lakshowsd, SPRQ, Abalosmusic, gemfow as some guys that represent that fan base well. It just sucks that that others in that fan base have taken the change of times like a bitter old hag definatly hanging on to history. Rather than embrace a young up and comer and acknowledge that we paid our dues after decaeds of futility some bash us down every chance they get. Now for guys like you "lakesandclips" I respect the tone you are coming with. You are always welcome here and all lakers fans who come here respectfully are welcome, but there needs to be some changes from how the rest of that fans base approaches us. Dont go out with disgrace and bitter, acknowledge your competitors and congratulate gracefully keep composure.

As somebody who posts on a lot of general forums you guys would be surprised how many Lakers fans want us to do well. The loud, obnoxious Lakers people aren't true fans but Kobe bandwagoners and just ignorant bullies. Like the cholos you see on our post game shows chanting "Clippers suck". The more knowledgeable, legit Lakers fans I've talked to either root for us as a 2nd team or at the very least don't mind us doing well. Problem is Kobe stans and bandwagon Lakers fans are the loud ones that stand out and cause the most drama.

Been following L.A. basketball since Lakers began playing in Sports Arena about 1960. Celtics always ripped my heart out. Started seriously following Clippers when I saw a legitimate up and coming team 3 yrs. ago. As they've continued to make progress, my interest in the Lakers has seriously declined. Lakers have turned into a farce. Clips are still a couple years away, and need to resolve the ridiculous confusion with their 5 spot and overall coaching. Lakers imploded by allowing their new center to play at the beginning of the season instead of healing and thinking a 38 yr. old, oft injured guard would actually be an asset. As far as my Bruins are concerned, the college game was totally ruined by the NBA. The fact that a tiny number of kids could make NBA squads at 19/20 yrs of age does not outweigh the destruction of of college basketball.

Does the word "narscissistic (sp) come to mind? The guy sitting next me is an LAL fan and is OK. We gave each other props including and I believe this: if LAL were healthy and non dysfunctional they would stand a good chance of beating miami. (It was only a little lie lol )

Anyway he still can't understand why "Stern" vetoed the CP3 to LAL "deal". Even when I explained that Pau for CP3 would have made NO unsaleable and the Clippers trade made good business sense he still insisted it was a done deal. He said MDSr had nothing to do with the deal. According to him LAL got hit in the, shall we say, Stern. Why would Stern the Boogey man cancel the deal? He hates the poor little Lakers and wants to bu*ger them the first chance he gets.

FOR THE HUNDRETH TIME YOU FOOLS -BECAUSE HE OWNED THE F*CKING HORNETS AND HE WANTED TO GET RID OF THEM Who would want a $20mill Gasol? LAL fans think LAL is so great that anybody would want their most ridiculously overpaid and underperforming player just because one of their uniforms caressed his culo (sp)..

btw Narcissus fell in love with his own reflection in the river. So in love that he tried to kiss it. He fell in and drowned

Because most Laker fans, by most, I mean THE MAJORITY, are Obnoxious, Arrogant Fans.

If you're rooting for the Clippers now, just admit, you're a BANDWAGON Clipper fan. If you can admit that you're a Bandwagon fan, then hop on board. The wagon is big enough for all of you. For those of us who have been loyal fans through DECADES of losing seasons, we understand why we can't stand FAKER Fans.

Umm.. sorry but I'm not a bandwagon fan? I started to root for the Clips when Brand was part of the team. I liked his game. Honestly though, its not fair to judge most Lakers fans as how you say obnoxious and arrogant. I understand where your coming from but thats not cool to just call me a bandwagon. Sounds very rude of you to say that without even personally knowing me.

Haha yes I am. I should make a jersey half Clips and half Lakers ahah !

Half of each jersey might get you on TV. But preferably an all clipper jersey!

Welcome! Hmmm for changing password it's been so long I forgot. Best bet is probably logging out, going to main page and where you sign in click "I forgot my password" and reset it to what you want. At least that should work.

I feel you dude. I identify myself as a Clippers fan and a Laker Supporter. I guess you would be the opposite of me: A Laker fan/Clipper supporter.

The loyalty lies more so with the city than the actual team. I know damn well that if the Clippers moved outside of Los Angeles, even so far as Anahiem, they'd immediately become my second favorite team rather than my first.

As far as Laker and Clipper fans getting along, it's not going to happen. There are just too many obnoxious Laker fans out there who make it almost impossible to not hate the Lakers and their fans. Even as a Laker supporter, I hate most Laker fans because the moment I say something about the Clippers they start talking trash. All in all, I think it's better that we don't get along because it adds to the excitement of the rivalry, and in my opinion, makes the Los Angeles sports scene a lot more interesting than most other cities.

Hi Everyone, my name is Mike and after lurking on various Clipper forums, decided to finally register on this one!

I haven't been a Clipper fan for too long, but semi-followed the team for a while but never paid much attention if that makes sense. Reason being, I am born and raised in San Diego so growing up I didn't have an NBA team to follow so I've never been a big NBA fan. I'm a huge college basketball fan so I do like the sport. I got my bachelors degree from SDSU in 09 and I'm currently getting my Masters degree from USC and graduate May 17 so almost there!

Being up in LA now and right by the Staples Center I've obviously made it a priority to attend basketball games now as previously I have never been to one. With that said, there are 2 NBA teams up here and I can finally see one that used to have ties to my city (San Diego).

My dad used to be a season ticket holder when they were the San Diego Clippers a LONG time ago so he kind of put me on to them so I'm glad I can see more games and have more basketball to talk about with him and learn more about the past from him.
