Sad X-rays on Shaun's knee came back negative. That would mean that there is nothing broken. However, since it was a total knee dislocation, there could be the chance for tissue damage. It looks like they are going to do an MRI on Tuesday as well another test to see if there is any arterial damage.

Let's start out by hoping that Livingston makes a full recovery. Looking at the video, this could be a career threatening injury...it looked that nasty. Of course, I'm no doctor so I hope I'm wrong.

I think we also have to bring up how injury prone the kid is. He's never made it through a complete NBA season. In his third season in the league, his body is still not NBA ready. A dislocated right knee in his rookie season caused him to miss 39 games. He had the shoulder injury last year and now this. Yet another reason why I think that the Clips shouldn't have made Livingston "untouchable" in trade talks. This may throw a huge wrench into not only this season, but seasons down the road.

Now the team is going to have to go out and sign another point guard after Von Wafer's 10 day is up. Some say Alvin Williams may be brought back. Maybe a guy like Penny Hardaway?? We'll see.

Yeah even after several NBA seasons Shaun still looks a bit too skinny. Hopefully when he comes back this time his legs will be much stronger. This will certainly throw a monkey wrench into the long term Clipper plans- in the upcoming draft they will likely make drafting a PG their #1 priority. For now I suppose an Alvin Williams or Penny Hardaway can fill in with some minutes. It looks like Cassell is not himself right now with that abdominal strain so they really need some help fast.

I do not know what Penney has left but Alvin Williams wasn't looking all that good. Might as well play Ewing, who looks good most of the time, then makes rookie mistakes on occasion. Hey, we could bring in Guillermo Diaz and see what he has got. He lit it up in Europe and we own his rights. Oh, I know, call Scottie Pippin, he can play the point. Wow, we are really grasping for straws now.

My friend said that he already heard that Livingston's out for season. And it may even be what Ben said, a career threatening injury. I hope it doesn't come to that. I'm willing to forgive the season, but we desperately need him to recover. So that means our draft pick is squarely on a PG. It may be a solid draft, but are there any good PGs from college to be had even?

Oh!It's so nasty...He was playing a lot of minutes lately and he was becoming regular in his play and suddenly this awful situation...I know sometimes I've been tough with my comments about him but even though all my words I always had some hope about his possibilities...I dont know how many time he's going to be injured but let's give him all our suport and wish him the best possible recover. He deserves it

Livingston Tuesday Update

Article from clippers.com

Shaun Livingston Injury Update

Under the supervision of team physician Dr. Tony Daly, Clippers guard Shaun Livingston underwent a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) exam on Tuesday morning at Centinela Freeman Regional Medical Center in Inglewood.

The MRI revealed that Livingston suffered tears to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), medial collateral ligament (MCL) and lateral meniscus. Livingston also suffered a patella dislocation, in addition to the previously diagnosed tibia/femoral dislocation.

Livingston suffered the injury at the 8:10 mark in the first quarter of the Clippers win over the Charlotte Bobcats on Monday, Feb. 26 at STAPLES Center.

Livingston was transported to Centinela Medical Center immediately following the injury, where he had an MRA (Magnetic resonance arteriogram) that showed no arterial bleeding.

Thankfully they didn't say anything like his return would be a doubt, etc. So yep bad news but we know that Shaun will work hard and get back no matter what. Since they say that he's not going to be able to participate in any basketball activities for the next 8 to 12 months, we're probably looking at after the All-star break of next season when he does return to the court. In the meanwhile the Clippers lose pretty much their best ball handler, passer, and a solid, long defender. So now they're gonna have to look around....

From CBS Sportswire:

It's really a shame, first off, for Shaun as a person. As much as some of us were wondering if Livingston was ever going to be a "star" in this game (me included), you don't wish for this to happen to anyone. After his 14 point, 14 assist game against Golden State, I thought maybe, just maybe, the Clippers had something in Livingston. But now we won't know what's going to happen for a long time. I'm hoping that Shaun comes back eventually, but with all that damage to the knee, I have my doubts that he'll ever be the same.

The team is also going to suffer from this. Livingston was playing major minutes for them. He's going to be missed this season and likely next season. It totally changes what the team will be looking for this summer, either in the draft or in a trade. The need now is definitely a point guard. Maybe Mike Bibby will end up opting out of his contract in Sacramento...or maybe the team could sign a free agent point guard like Mo Wiliams (Bucks) this summer. It's definitely going to change what the Clippers do with their money this summer, as they surely won't be offering Livingston his extension, instead waiting until the next summer when he'll be a restricted free agent. They need to see whether he's going to be able to come back and be a player in this league. You got to feel for Shaun also because he likely lost out on millions of dollars that he would have gotten in a summer extension.

But that's all saved for the summer. Now it's time to finish this season strong. With everything that has gone wrong this season, maybe something like this will unite the team and give them a reason to play. I think that Daniel Ewing is going to step up and play a big role with this team. I look for the team to come out and play with a lot more energy and dedication as they "play it for Shaun". It's unfortunate that it may take something like this to get the team to play up to its capabilities.

The Clippers have signed Will Conroy to a 10 day contract and released Von Wafer. After a very successful career at the U of Washington where he was originally a walk on, Will has been in the D league where he was an allstar and led the league in assists. He averaged 15 points and 11 assists per game in the D league and hit 56% from the floor during his career at Washington. He can penetrate the lane, but he doesn't seem to have 3 point range. Might be a good pickup and just might get some minutes.

I agree- I think the team will be motivated to play harder because of what happened- yes Play it for Shaun! I just hope for Shaun that the doctors do a great job repairing his knee. Hopefully after his surgery(s) he'll be back soon behind the bench cheering out his teammates for that final playoff push.

Ewing is going to be vital- I like how he's out there playing pretty aggressively. The Clippers need him to stay in that attack mode and be a viable scorer out there in addition to a distributer. This is his chance to come out and play well and dispel that image of a scapegoat a lot of people put on him after Game 5 of the Phoenix series last year.

Nice- thanks for the heads up Jamfan. 15 point and 11 assists and 5 boards/game- those are good stats. Looks like he also averages more than 4 turnovers, however:

First as we all do I'd like to wish Shaun a speedy recovery. Having said that, I wonder how long he'll be able to play without another serious injury. I wonder if he'll be able to play like everyone hoped. I think there is physically something wrong with him. He's had 2 knee dislocations. These injuries are RARE except in serious contact injuries and car accidents. To have both knees out speaks of some problem. Also he has a torn cartilage in his shoulder and a back injury. Normal 21 year olds don't get all these injuries. Iverson has had fewer injuries in his whole career.

Not to be crass but he should have been considered tradeable because of his known injury potential. But again I wish him well.
