Former Blazers' forward Darius Miles completed the latest audition in his attempt to get back into the NBA, this time with the Dallas Mavericks, Ian Thomsen from Sports Illustrated is reporting.
"He was much better than I thought he would be," a member of the Mavericks' camp said. "On a scale of 1 to 10, I was expecting him to be 6. But he was a good, solid 8."
While exhausted, Thomsen reports that at the end Miles jumped flat-footed and touched the top of the backboard square, showing he still has some explosion in his leap.
"I'm physically 100 percent," Miles said in his first interview since attempting a comeback unprecedented in this salary-cap era. "I'm not in [basketball] shape, but healthwise and bodywise, I'm 100 percent. I've got the explosion; I can move."
Miles is trying to become the first player to come back after the NBA ruled that his injury was "career ending".
If he were to sign a new contract and play in 10 or more games this season, his $9 million salary would go back on Portland's books.

If Warriors match KAz (even if they don't), we should strongly consider bringing back Darius Miles. I think he still has it in him to be a solid contributor off the bench. Plus, like the article says, if we sign him and he plays in more than 10 games, his contract goes back on the books for the blazers. It's always a plus when you can get a good player and hurt another team's situation at the same time, especially when that team is in your conference (e.g. Camby/Nuggets, Baron/Warriors). Also, he shouldn't cost us more than the minimum. Lastly, it's D Miles!
What do you guys think? |

YES!! plus it would be worth the vet's min just to cripple portland's salary cap by $9M, per the above article - his salary comes back on portland's books if he plays in just 10 games!!! this might make portland pull a denver and trade away one of their players....
p.s. portland will likely be our rival this year for the 8th spot...GSW doesn't stand a chance anymore...they are the new laughingstock of the league: "a rebuilding team that is about to have a capped-out payroll"...oxymoron if you ask me..=) |

lol you beat me to it, i was going to post the EXACT same article...
I think it would be a good idea, however i think we'd only be able to sign him to a veterans minimum.
If he accepts that much, I'll gladly take him back. |

| D.Miles will generate hype amongst O.G. clipper fans and ticket sales too, which will be more than enough to cover his min. salary, if accepted....of course, this hype will die fast, cuz he sucks, but his name should sell enough tix and jerseys in preseason to reconcile his salary fast...lol |

The only reason i wouldn't bring him is that he plays SF and that would take minutes away from probably two of the most promising SF prospects in the league (Thornton/Azubuike). Unless we push Azubuike to the SG spot, in which case the SG depth will be overloaded with Mobley, Gordon and Azubuike.
On the other hand, if he can log some minutes at PF and take some pressure off Camby, bring back D.Miles baby! |

plus if he comes back and Lamar doesnt get traded, they can start smoking weed together again!!!! I bet you any party those two attended looked like a Dr. Dre music video...
Here is the thing about bringing him back, if we do, we also have to convince the Knicks to buy out quinton richardson and bring him back for the "ok headband tap after a monster dunk in your face" thing they used to do, otherwise it would just be a waste. |
