    Ex-Laker Forward Ronnie Turiaf

The Los Angeles Lakers will not match the offer sheet given to Ronny Turiaf, meaning the forward will play for the Golden State Warriors next season, ESPN.com's J.A. Adande reported Thursday.

Golden State offered Turiaf a four-year, $17 million contract offer, which would have boosted Los Angeles' payroll past the luxury tax.

Turiaf averaged 6.6 points and 3.9 rebounds in 78 games with the Western Conference champions last year, starting 21 games. The three-year veteran also blocks shots and plays strong low-post defense, two of Golden State's biggest problem areas.

    ---------------------

The Clippers chances of signing Restricted Free-Agent Kelenna Azubuike away from the Warriors now that Turiaf is on board is really high. But it is still a waiting game whether the Warriors can still match the Clippers' offer of $9 million over 3 years.

(Hope the Clippers sign him...he's a younger version of Corey Maggette)

It actually didn't become official until tonight, Friday night, but Turiaf is indeed a Warrior. With the glut of swing players at GS, it's unlikely they will spend money on another guy to play SG or SF. They even drafted another player to compete for that position. So, I think KAZ, Bakasuke, AZ, KZ, or whatever nick name we decide to give him is going to be a Clipper. I am however a big Ronny fan and am sad to see him leave LA. You gotta love a guy like that.

Furthermore the warriors already have a lot of SG-SF: Jackson, Belinelli, Maggette, Randolph, Monta Ellis...

    Quote:
NBA front-office sources say that the Warriors -- hoping they can find someone else of quality to spare young Monta Ellis from inheriting all of Baron's old ballhandling duties -- are highly intrigued by the idea of signing Sixers guard Louis Williams to an offer sheet.

It's not yet clear whether Golden State would have enough leftover salary-cap space to extend an offer to Williams sufficiently prohibitive for Philly to match after the highly expected re-signings of their own restricted free agents: Ellis (coming soon) and center Andris Biedrins. There would also undoubtedly be questions about how much Williams and Ellis could play together in a less-than-physically imposing backcourt and with Maggette and Stephen Jackson sure to command lots of minutes.

It's also possible that the Warriors could identify another prime target to chase, since I'm told they're evaluating numerous scenarios these days.

Yet there's little doubt that Williams' scoring knack suggests would make him an intriguing fit in Don Nelson's system. Which must be why one plugged-in source believes that the Warriors, in spite of the obstacles, are planning to make a "big run" at him.

Looks like GS might go after Brand's help. This also solidifies our chances of signing Buke. Wink

I'm sure the warriors will make a few transitions within the season.
