The Clippers have announced a press conference for Monday at 3:30PM to introduce Marcus Camby to the press and the fans in LA. This puts to rest, for the time being, a lot speculation, including mine, that he was brought in as trade bait to go out and do a sign and trade for Omeka Okafor or even better yet, Josh Smith. But it doesn't totally put it all to rest. If they were working on a deal, and the progress is slow, they might have to do a press conference anyway because it would all look bad and make people suspicious. So, things look like a trade is unlikely, but as we all have seen so far this season, this is a business first, and a lovefest second. If the Clippers are looking to make a trade, and the right deal can be put together, they won't let the fact that they had a press conference stop them. But getting traded twice would sure hurt Camby's feelings, and they are already destroyed by what Denver did to him. But if we traded him, it would be for a stud player, not dogfood. I wonder what Denver fans would think, if their team traded Camby for nothing, and then we traded him for Josh Smith? Geez

haha. thanks for the info JF. i really hope we keep Marcus Camby. in the begining i was hoping we would do a sign and trade for josh smith but after thinking about it we really need Marcus Camby because hes a great all around player and is a defensive machine.

i still would like to get josh smith but not at the expense of Camby. Hopefully Brevin + TT + a future draft pick for Josh Smith, but i doubt thats likely

i cant wait till the press confernce but were not gonna trade them so anyone who has that idea can get that out of there head the clippers had no idea that the cambyman was gonna be available when they did they made a great move beacuse josh smith and emoker okufur are good but they cant play defense agianst the great pf in the west i know camby wont score much but he is the best big man defender in the game and he dosent need to score beacuse kamen can score and al cat and b diddy so if the clippers ever trade him they would be stupid but there not u guys are the ones who are stupid if u think they are.

Camby, is a better fir for us, althouugh I believe Smith will sign with another team at some point this year or next, I believe Camby is the better choice. Not based on offense but remember, We have plenty of offensive scorers as it is.

Yeah, but Camby is going to be 36 going on 37 at the end of his current contract. So we have basically rented him for two years with no intention of his being our long term solution at PF. On the other hand Josh Smith or Okafor could be signed to long term deals because they are so young. With Camby we immediately have to start a new search a year from now.

camby is a great fit.....so what we have to SEARCH a year or two from now....bosh, boozer and amare are gonna be out there for the taking in 2010, ....bosh will probably stay, i have NO IDEA where boozer will end up(probably not with the jazz....they have NO MONEY for him) but amare is NOT gonna wanna hang around phoenix i guarantee you that!...phoenix has NO promising youth on their team and their main core besides him are 31(bell), 34(nash), 36(oneal), and 35(hill).....trust me hes gonna want out!

RentaCamby '08!!!!!! 2 Years and 10 mil under the cap when he's done. It's a huge advantage being under the cap in 2 years. There is not guarantee its gonna work with Camby but no guarantee smith would either. There is always a gamble and the FO thought there was less risk and more reward with him. I agree. Hope we are in the playoffs for the next two years and we get a kick @ss free agent in 2010.

Chris Bosh would be awesome. Lets see how we do before 2010, and we should be in a position to improve our team then...but hopefully coming off a great season.
