i found this on a random clipper forum that i stumbled upon in search for some more offseason news. though rip hamilton is a very good player and is one of my favorite in the league right now i don't want to have to give up kaman or gordon, i really hope this isn't true at all.

    Another New HUGE Trade Rumor

Postby ClipperDomination on Tue Jul 22, 2008 1:48 am
I have a buddy who works for the Clipps that knows people within the organization. He was the one to tell me hours before Elton left that he was not happy being in LA at all and wanted to leave, so I give him props and cred for that.

Here's a new rumor that he has brought up to me, and this can be HUGE.

If the Pistons do not have enough to get T-Mac (who is their first priority), there's a rumor surrounding a trade the Clippers and Pistons. The trade in centered around the following:

Kaman and Gordon for...Rip and Sheed!

Both teams would add in salary to make this trade work, but what do you all think?

B-Diddy, Rip, Thornton, Sheed, Camby. Surprised

That would be fantastic, I'm all for it. Make it happen, Dun!

If this happened, I guess we would be one of the first to know =P. That is quite a big change though. Not sure if Sheed would be good for the team.

I'm really against that trade. There's just too much I don't like. Sheed isn't going to be on the decline in a couple years like people say. He's already on the decline and won't be of much help here, especially as a replacement for Kaman. Our frontcourt would be really old, and suddenly, this team that was supposed to have a great frontcourt for the future(Kaman and Brand, then Kaman and Camby) would be left with nothing for the near future. Kaman has suddenly emerged as probably the most important piece to this franchise's future. And as much as I like Rip, he's also getting old and doesn't give us much of a future. Gordon can really be something special. Kaman and Gordon I think are even better in the present than Sheed and Rip, even without seeing Gordon play. And obviously they have much more of a future.

Agree This trade is nuts. Last yr Sheed had a slight edge but we all know that Chris was playing alone in the post. Next yr Chris' stats will be better than Sheed. Sheed has a 3 ball but in a couple of years he'll have no legs. We have the potential of having a young exciting team 2009-10 after the babies grow up. I'd trade Cat and TT for Rip about it.(fat chance). Rip has a few good yrs left but what do we have left. No Cat and no Gordon in a couple of yrs. We should be tough with the present line up and in dreamland add Amare and we're talking finals. Can you imagine that? We can be tough for the next 5-6 yrs.

HELL NO!!! we don't need to old players with pricey contracts in our team... Gordon will be a lights out shooter in this league and Kaman is one of the top 5 centers

Well, Sheed may be on the verge of getting old, but Camby is already old. he just plays young. Having said that this is one of those trades that is hard to rate. My biggest problem is that this rumor comes from a guy, who has a friend, who works for the Clippers, who knows a guy, who works..................

Exactly, why would they trade away 2 young guys for some older vets who wont be around for very much longer. It's hard to find a good center and we found one in Kaman and he's only 25 years old. And as clippers0918 said, we were willing to trade our first round pick just to secure Gordon. Doesn't sound logical for the FO to want to trade him after what they were willing to give up for him.

As of now the only players that should be traded if need be are TT, Knight, and maybe Mobley (depending on who we were picking up) Our starting 5 as well as Gordon, Taylor, and Jordon shouldn't even be mentioned in a trade.

My problem with this trade: The Clippers will be a bunch of strangers! Who do you root for? Thornton, Mobley and a bunch of guys in red jerseys. None of the guys I've been watching for the last zillion years.

If i remember correctly sheed and MDsr did not get along to well before that trailblazer team broke up. I dont know how he feels about him now. Would you really want someone on the team who in closing min of a game we would have to worry about getting the double t and getting kicked out because his head is not in the game. Hamilton can still shoot. But he is better mid range than long. Considering he only shot 62 threes last season which is less than 1 a game. So I dont see how this would benefit the team. We would be renting players and as I have seen before sometimes you dont always get the results you hoped for. Lets keep the current unit intact and see how they play before we go all crazy here.

This trade hopefully won't happen. We are already renting Camby. Now rent Sheed and give away Kaman Kaman who is still developing. Rip is good but I don't think he's a MDsr. system type of player. I hope it doesn't materialyze. This was probably thought of before F-Elton left. Detroit is probably the one soliciting the deal.

I am positive that if they do want to sign T-Mac they may have to unload some space, but to say this?! I need to see an article or some form of proof, this cat might have just been overexaggerating
and might have posted that on his own interest, or maybe he's a fan of Rip and Wallace.

There is no proof of the FO considering this other than this guy's post.

ummm....idk...rip is good but do we really want a technical fouler like sheed? and i dont want to let go of gordon just yet. if we let him go then who knows he might become good in the future. like brett favre. the atlanta falcons thought he wasnt good and so they traded him. now look what happend hes a future hall of famer with his name in the record books. dont let go of gordon yet!

    BOTTOM LINE:

sheed and rip are only "slightly" better than kaman and gordon now..but will only be "slightly" better for the next 1-2 yrs....kaman and gordon will be much better than those two for us for the next 5-plus years...

this is a no-brainer - DON'T DO THE TRADE!!! not worth selling off your entire future, only to get a fraction of a point better...they need to throw in Stuckey...then iz a done deal..LOL
