Too bad for us? Too bad for you guys for having a roster of players that play the same position, losing your PG and responding by signing another wing in Maggette and then overpaying him to do exactly what all of your other players do, then matching buke to do the same thing, having no legitimate PG in sight, overpaying Turiaf, and having a GM that has no idea what he's doing. oh yeah and your best player monta still remains unsigned along with Biedrins.
But youre right, too bad for us.
As things stand, it appears we are going to finish ahead of you in the standings, again. Buke would have been really nice for the clips. Funny you should say our players play the same position... while you have two half court centers (Kaman, Camby)... two trigger happy swingmen (thorton, Mobley)... starting with an uptempo PG who dominates the ball. Not sure how that is going to work out for you. Guess we'll see.
so what your saying is we have 2 big men, 2 swingmen, and a pg. damn! youre so right, we are screwed! because having those guys means we have an influx of players playing the same position, you can never succeed with that! im not sure either how thats going to work out for us.
wait who did the champion boston celtics have? 2 big men (perkins and KG) 2 swingmen (allen and pierce) and a pg (rondo). You know what I just realized, almost all teams that do well have that same formula of players! i guess it worked out for them.
i dont know how you can say it appears that you're going to be better than us. you just proved why we're going to be better.
Another example: how many 6-9 centers are out there? i can name one: ben wallace. when he played center for detroit, you couldve said they were playing 2 pfs with him and rasheed, but what did they do? they won the championship.
the center and pf are the most interchangeable pieces in the nba. camby came into the league a pf, and then moved to center, so that doesnt mean he cant play pf again? ill tell you who cant really switch positions: corey maggette, try moving him, in fact try asking him to do anything that doesnt result in less shot attempts. good luck with that. |

That's okay- we have options. Cat can actually play some SF too. Ryan Gomes, Mo Evans, Q of course, etc.
Biedrins- he can play SF right? Let's go after him since the Warriors don't have any $ left The Warriors are is in a very precarious situation now- instead of taking care of business and coming to terms with their two most important players first, they chose to go after bench players. I seriously doubt now that they can match any sort of market-level offer for Ellis and Biedrins.
Ellis and Biedrins are done deals to come back to the Warriors. The Richardson trade was done soley for the purpose of ensuring they could match any offer without going over the lux tax. The warriors have the bird rights to both players, so they can sign them to whatever they want - and since Baron's $18M deal is off the books now, they actually will be much further below the lux tax than they expected to be at this point. ESPN actually reported Ellis has agreed in principle to a deal last night. Now that they matched Buke, we'll probably see the warriors finalize those deals and sit tight for a bit. Biggest speculation we see is to try and upgrade Harrington (current tweener PF) for a real PF by packaging him with one of the younger players. We'll see.
Good luck to you guys this year. |

| Funny how people who dont even watch there own team come here and clipper bash. This guy does obviously does not understand basketball. I dont think he realized that trade exceptions are only good for one year after the designated trade. I am still wondering how are you going to win a game with a s.g playing point and a bunch of shooters. I have yet to see a team with a guard that did not average at least 5 assist a game win a championship. And you need to be able to slow and speed up the pace which is why Phoenix,Denver, Sacramento, and toronto last year never won a championship or made it to the finals. Even Dallas had a half court offense when AJ became coach. I just hope we blow the Warriors out so he will be quiet. |

| Evidently Truth hasn't seen Maggette play much. All he knows is that he can score. Wait'll he finds out that Corey's idea of ball movement is him driving to the hole, and his idea of defense is... hmmm... I'm not sure that Corey knows about defense. The only team more porous on defense in the conference will be Denver. Finish ahead of us in the standings? Only in points allowed. And Thornton, trigger happy? So he was a rookie, he was learning on the job. I'll lay odds now that by the end of next season, Mullin would gladly trade anyone on the team for Thorton. And with the possible exception of Ellis, maybe any two guys. Keep in touch Truth, it should be an interesting season. |

* To questions in some prior posts, for anyone who is confused, we have a center. He is 7 ft tall (Biedrins). Our problem is PF (Harrington). Unlike last year, at least we have a real back-up PF.
* Ellis took his game to another level in the 2nd half of the season. He averaged 4.6 APG and 22 PPG from the 2 guard spot. Getting to your 5 APG bar when he is running the team won't be a problem. I guess we'll be OK after all.
* No clipper bashing here. Your team will be ~dramatically~ improved over last season. Maybe double the wins. Baron + Camby minus Mags probably gets you into the high 30's in the brutal West. Bench is a little weak, so road wins will be tough. I like Gordon alot. True NBA range. Obviously if Baron gets hurt or scuffles with MDJ Sr, all bets are off.
* Warriors ain't going to win 48 again thanks to you taking Baron. However, the warriors had ~no~ bench last year and it showed as they faded late year. Question is if the team can stay at .500-ish.
Have fun. I'd expect they'll match us up on opening night thanks to all the offseason drama.... |

^^Nah, I rather have the Sixers at Staples on opening night.
Also guys let's not forget that Tim Thomas is really a small forward who can also play PF and even C. I think we just need another wing guy who can play SF/SG for more depth. |

Correction 6'11 with shoes on. And 4.6 assist are easily obtained when you are not in charge of distribution. Kind of like Mobley averaging 4.0 assits and us saying he can average 7 or 8. And turiaf may be a real backup but would he be able to hold his own as our JP did last year when he is forced to play more minutes than what was originally intended..So where does the real backup come from if you dont have a starter. The bench has 3 players who should help maybe not score the most but are decent veterans who hopefully will not be asked to do what they were forced last year with the exception of hart. And with the money left from the none buike deal we should be able to get a backup wing player. And im sorry but on paper the clips look like they will have the better team. Just stating what on paper sounds more attractive there are no experiments on our team other than thorton starting. But it should be easier for him to get adjusted to starting since he played so much last year and he is 25. Thank you hope to see you here win or lose after the game next year. |

This is true. But we just need SOMETHING the market is cleaned out...a wing is a must, and a big is huge too, as powell is are only proven back up, and he aint much. |

Warrior fans are nothing like Laker fans. First of all, they live in no-cal, which instantly means they think they are the s%$t, but in reality, they don't realize how far off they really are. Secondly, the Warriors are historically among the worst teams ever. They are like the Arizona Cardinals of the NBA. Meanwhile, the Lakers rank up there with the Yankees, Celtics, and Canadiens as an elite franchise. You can put an all-time Laker team together that consists of:
PG - Magic Johnson
SG - Kobe Bryant, Jerry West
C - Kareem, Wilt, Shaq
SF - Elgin Baylor, Lamar Odom, Robert Horry
PF - Pau Gasol, Karl Malone, AC Green |

Funny Golden state has an unproven pg.A pf playing center. An over paid backup. An over paid sf. And one guy that we wanted. Dont know how the cards stack to you but that sounds like rebuilding. If ellis proves he could play PG then props. But you guys have a run and gun team with no real run. A bunch of runners with no where to run 2. And our team is suited to run. Thorton played the gun at FS. Look at there offense. Camby is playing his natural position. And I thought in a run and gun you were suppose to have a wing shooter like mobley. Do you watch Basketball much.
NO, GSW is NOT rebuilding...grizzlies with a $38M payroll are rebuilding..GSW will be capped out with a mediocre team, and no PG..LOL..they aren't rebuilding, they just FCKED!
For the record, I'd rather keep Q Ross at much cheaper than go after garbage like Mo Evans...Lez just get Sasha and cripple the lakers...sasha is a good bench player, bottom line.. |

| As much as Mo Evans pisses me off right now, he makes the most sense for $3M. Or we can look for a solid back-up PF and look for leftover SG's afterward. |
