As much trash we give BJ for his awful play, you have to give it to him that he's decent at sitting on the bench. Can't complain about his form or posture or anything. Worthwhile trade. As for Barnes, yes I would say he's tradable. I think our moveable pieces includes everyone outside of Paul, Griffin, Jordan, and Redick. Whether Crawford's trade possibility grows or falls from his recent play is debatable. Most of our other players lack any real trade value beyond salary exchanges. That leaves: Crawford (5.25 mill), Dudley (4.25 mill), and Barnes (3.25 mill). I guess Crawford makes the....

I know teams are all business, but Barnes took less money to stay with Clips, don't really want to trade him =/

I agree with Crawford, he's too valuable to us. I don't know how atrocious our second unit offense would be without him.

Collison creates little offense, holds the ball for way too long, and in the end desperately gives the ball to Crawford so something can happen. So I'd like to see collison get moved and have Crawford as backup PG.

Crawford is not a PG, it's not a good role for him. His least productive season in a while was with Portland trying to make him a PG. Crawford is best as a scorer playing next to another ball handler.

Honestly, I'm not sure who would have paid Barnes more at his age. I think he got his market value, arguably a bit more when you consider that he got 3 years. Only veteran teams would want Barnes anyways, so I can't see how trading him would work, but I'd like to see the team healthy before making any moves that aren't for sure upgrades.

If he is traded it would be wise to bring in someone to play a comparable role, not too many of those guys available, but position of the player is also important in terms of fit.

Only "real" value in trades comes from our wings.

That is certainly true. In terms of getting any player of consequence, one of the wings will have to go.

Can't we have a little loyalty here, I mean I want the Clipps to win as bad as anyone, just so I can shove it in the Face of my Laker,Yankee,Duke,Cowboy loving little brother, but not by trading a man who was our 2nd best player in the playoffs last year and somebody who is one of the only guy's we have at the wing who can Score and Guard for us, not to mention he took less to stay. If we really want to change as an organization you don't do shady things like that.

I'm sure Doc will make a sound decision that benefits the team and won't burn any bridges during the process, Plus there's plenty of nice Defensive Biggs on the FA market, and with this being one of the best Drafts in Decades (Next Year might be hot as well), teams will look to make some trade for the sake of Tanking, heck we could probably luck up and pluck Kanter (Pipe Dream) from UTAH as bad as he's been playing you never know, plus I'm sure they'd love to draft Julies Randle.

Top FA big Man we should sign though, BRING BACK............... BRIAN COOK, lol

IMO, other than CP3, Crawford is the only other player on the team who can consistently create plays for himself, and the team.

From what I've seen from the second unit, almost half the plays end up with Crawford going iso, because Collison can't create anything. Doesn't matter how ineffective he was at PG before, I still think it'll be better than having Collison.

I feel like having him play backup SG when CP3's on, and backup PG during other times would be the best option.

In my opinion only Blake and Paul, maybe DJ are untradeable. The others depend on what you are getting back.

I only mention Barnes because of Jackson, but don't think Jackson could fill in the role.

Maybe with Jackson one of the other wings becomes an asset whether it be Dudley or Barnes.

We need to work on a way to get Kaman back. He's clearly not happy in his role with the Lakers. He'd make the perfect 3rd big. He can spread the floor, so he could allow DJ to play inside and Blake to dominate inside. I think Kaman and one of our two starting bigs along with the second unit could be devastating! How many 2nd teams could keep up with Kaman-----DJ Blake-------Kaman Barnes-----Barnes Crawford---Crawford Collison----Collison

I don't see the backup front court being a problem with Kaman on board. Pair that with our dominant starting lineup and we're instantly a contender. Maybe Green/Mullens and a couple of 2nd round picks? I'd even throw in a future first instead of the seconds.

Only way Clippers should trade their future 1st round pick is if they can get one back, I'd love to trick someone into trading their future 1st rounder for ours, I dream of Emanual Mudiay aka the 6'5 version of Russel Westbrook with Mad Handle.

^ best we get with our first for the next 4-5 years is a solid role player who makes rookie mistakes. Kaman can be that missing piece right now!

IDK if you follow College or High School Basket ball, but I'm not trading any 1st round pics for the next four years, not for no back up big. Looking at all the Mock Drafts, we could get a great player even as deep as we would be likely to pic. There is a reason Doc was traded for next year's first round pic and not this year's.

We can't even trade our 2014 1st until draft day. You have to keep one every other year. Fist one we could move in a trade now is 2017

Kaman is a good one on one defender. I am not against to signing him. He gets lost on the rotation though.

BTW, Nick Young is a bargain at 1.1 million a year. Swaggy P should have been a Clippers.

The options of doing some catch and shoot and the ability to play off the ball to get into his isolation spots are taken away if he's forced to bring the ball up and be the primary set up guy.

This isn't about who can create plays, but about how adding the burden of bringing the ball and setting up the offense consistently can take away from his scoring effectiveness.

loyalty after one season?

There was more loyalty owed to Bledsoe. He was very good in two playoff series and deserved more minutes in both. He should have been made starting SG.

If you worry too much about loyalty with players who have been on the team for a year, you make bad team decisions. Someone like Blake is a different situation.

Barnes has his positives, but his greatest attribute was value. Mediocre 3PT shooter, above average defender, very good rebounder, 4th/5th option level scorer, moves will off the ball. A lot of great things brought together, but not an irreplaceable player.

Meh...I don't really see where loyalty comes into play here, he was a journey man that signed for a year.

Yeah, I definitely agree with you and usually winning cures all anyways. I just would feel for Barnes since he signed on supposedly cheap deal with us on a discount. I think it always depends on what is out there. If you can get a Plumlee and PJ tucker back for Barnes aren't almost forced to do it, or put in players that you would prefer.

I think as Clipper fans we sometimes get a little caught up with loyalty, I still want to bring in Ike Diougu and Craig Smith. I feel bad every time I see Eric Gordon or Aminu over in New Orleans. I don't get the same feel with guys that left, but I even have a soft spot for Baron. Just about everyone but Cook, I couldn't stand him.

Yes.. Loyalty. When someone signs with your team for less you just can't get rid of him like that it would bring all kinds of bad press and a player who might choose to come here for less in chance of winning a championship would surely think twice. Plus Barnes has been a warrior for us and I love what he brings. Now on the Subject of Bledsoe, I love Bledsoe I thought Clippers was smart to pick him, one of the best high school players going to kentucky played great behind John Wall, should've been drafted higher no doubt..... but we weren't going to be able to resign him, he'll probably get paid 15 million or more a year, and with CP3,Blake and Jordan he had to be traded, J.J Redick, Jared Dudley for Bledsoe, that was a good trade, we got the shooters we needed, and we gave Bledsoe the chance to play for a solid team, up his stock and earn more money, that seems like loyalty to me.

I'd like to keep Barnes and Trade Willie, I like willie and I hate to see that good of a player and person be subject to a bench warmer when J.J. returns, somebody like that should be playing every night.

i really like willie and what he did for us last year but if a trade were to go down and we had to trade him i would only trading him to detorit so he gets to play in his home town.

I wouldn't mind that either, he'd be a great fit for them, and we could probably get back a Jonas Jerebko since he's fallen out of favor in Detroit, that would be a perfect scenario for both.

Love to move Willie and get Jerebko but;

  1. Don't think Detroit needs or wants Willie.

  2. He isn't bring us back Jerebko ($4.5) unless we throw in a whole lot more to make the $ work and still stay under the hard cap.

  3. Next. Smile

I definitely agree with you on Barnes. Barnes was very crucial in our efforts last year. I kind of look at him as a poor mans version of andre iguodala, can rebound, defend, pass, and decent offense. for the 3mill+we are paying him its a great bargain. also, what Barnes did against Ibaka should send a notice to anyone looking to cheap shot our guys. this is another great thing about Barnes he is all for his teammates and repping the Clippers. we definitely got a lot from Barnes thattranscends what he does on the court

Willie looked pretty good last night. Could be his shot finally falling. Not sure we could move him unless we packaged him with someone else.

I wasn't talking about trading him, I was saying he shouldn't have been signed for so long at his age. I thought you were saying that the Clippers should have been loyal to him in signing him back during the off-season. Isn't that what you were saying?

Barnes didn't sign for less last season, he wasn't getting any other offers.

No I was Just pointing out what I meant by being Loyal to Barnes as oppose to Eric Bledsoe whom we had no choice to trade due to the fact that we weren't going to afford him.

No Barnes Didn't sign for less last season, I don't believe I was talking about last season though. He signed for the minimum last season, "but it was still training camp during that time", he would have gotten offers. I wasn't talking about this season though, he signed for less and he gave parts of his salary to Darren Collison who also came here for less money.

I like Barnes but its the nba. There is no such thing as "loyalty" especially not for a guy who has been here for only one season and has bounced around the league.

Willie was amazing last year, so by comparison he hasn't done as well this year. even if he was doing good though he

plays a position in which we are loaded at. trading Willie + another player for a back up center makes sense

I'm watching out for the Nets now, if they flop hard after the Lopez injury, they have some attractive players to try and attain.

That's what I was thinking, but then I realized they don't have a draft pick this year, so there's no reason for them to tank.

I would be most interested in Kirilenko at his contract to be honest, but he won't get traded with the Russian connection (and his health is always an issue)

A lot of big contracts there though

^not gonna happen. I'll admit, my knee jerk reaction in the off season was to move jcrossover, but he's invaluable to us. We certainly can't move him for a backup big now.

Kirilenko would be great for us, but as you said, I just don't see it. Plus, I think we're solid on the wings. I think a backup big is our main concern. While I'd a defensive big, I think we need a guy who can score and take some pressure off of Collision to facilitate.

I like our JJ/Jamal combo. And I think we're just about good. Especially when JJ gets back. The bench has really tightened up. With Matt and Jackson...even Jamison I think we have some nice choices. Plus Hollins in short stretches.

I would trade our TPE for a defensive backup big.

It looks like the suns will not buy out Okafor. They are doing fairly well, if they do get rid of him, it'll be a trade for a playoff push.

Very Happy

In truth, they will probably utilize Evans more now that Lopez is down.
