Has everyone forgotten that the reason Omer Asik is being shopped right now is because he refuses to be anything other than a starter?

If you want Asik with the Clippers, you're going to have DJ as the backup.

I mean, I guess Doc could convince Asik to take a backup role, but I wouldn't hold my breathe waiting for it.

How about this trade? Everyone wins! We get exactly what we need and so does everyone else

If no trade happens until tomorrow that means Doc will sign Sasha, I read last week that Doc like Sasha game during practice, or look for a big man somewhere.

Marc Stein ‏@ESPNSteinLine 7m

ESPN has learned Cavs are in talks w/Sacramento on deal to swap Jarrett Jack for Jason Thompson. BUT Cavs looking for third team to route JT

Marc Stein ‏@ESPNSteinLine 7m

As talks currently stand, I'm told Cavs NOT inclined to send Jarrett Jack to Sacramento UNLESS they find third team to take Jason Thompson

There is your big man. By the looks of it, they're just looking to dump him to a third team.

Love Jason Thompson and what I've seen from him. Trading either Dudley or Barnes would mean more time for Bullock who has been shooting pretty well (albeit in a small sample size) this past month or two. MAKE IT HAPPEN!!

He does have a heftier contract, but I feel like he virtually eliminates the need for a plethora of shitty frontcourt bench players. 3 Man rotation of BG/DJ/JT = Pretty menacing frontcourt

And if they don't want Barnes?

I'd give Cavs a 2nd rounder to take Dudley if it means getting back Thompson.Dudley contract is cheaper than Thompson's and is a year less so Cavs might think about it.They really want cap space though so it would be a tough sell.

2nd rounder won't help IMO. They don't need Dudley. And they want the cap space.

They don't really have any good small forwards they might take dudley.

Heck, they might take Dudley just for "veteran leadership" alone. Deng will almost certainly be gone after this season is over, while Dudley would be forced to stay there for at least 3-4 more years.

If Dudley is a good SF, why do you want to trade him. wink

They have Deng for now...plus their not looking to take on any lengthy contract.

He's a good back when you have a quality starter but not when's he's your main option

Then if the Cavs don't have a good starting SF as you say, why would they want Dudley and his lengthy contract. Just say'n.

If Cavs don't want to take back long contracts we can trade them Willie and Barnes.Willie isn't guaranteed next year and Barnes isn't the year after that.I think they would take that trade but it makes us a lot weaker on the wing.

I found a trade that works but hurts our wing depth

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=m3yu3po

We would have an open roster spot to sign someone to a 10 day.Out of the remaining free agents I would give Mickael Pietrus,Stephen Jackson,Josh Howard, and Marquis Daniels a look.None of them are great but not a lot of options.

We could probably get more from the Cavs for helping in that deal like Zeller and maybe Clark if we add more filler. Doc needs to help push this deal its right in front of him.

Why don't we try for richard jefferson. He Is had a rejuvenated year, he is shot the 3 ball extremely well this year, and I'm sure the young jazz wouldn't be overly reluctant to part with him this year. Just a thought!

Cleveland has no desire to trade for Barnes or Green, LOL. And as for trading Mullens...good luck. Doc could push all he wants, but if Cleveland or whom ever wants none of what he's "pushing' it won't matter.

they have deng this year but no reliable back up shooter. dudley can help them with that in limited minutes. he could be their backup of the future. I'm pretty sure they can land someone for next year or trade dudley in the offseason. id be fine with dudley on this team if we had a starter like deng

Nice try, but don't think that's going to happen. Razz

I'm sure Dudley still has perceived value and his struggles here are probably seen as an aberration, not the norm.

Now the hard part comes in finding that team who perceives that and what we can get in return. It's not that easy.

Richard Jefferson would be a nice fit, but he's making like $11 mil, so it probably won't work out. Maybe he will get waived later in the season.

this is a little off topic, but how did the golden state lakers trade work? i thought bazemore and brooks could not be traded in combination with other players?

The Lakers might also part with forward-center Jordan Hill before the trade deadline. He gets $3.5 million this season and will be a free agent in July. He is averaging 8.5 points and seven rebounds in only 19.5 minutes a game. Could this be a short term fixes?

Marc Stein ‏@ESPNSteinLine 15m

Lakers must be confident they can move Jordan Hill to ask for second-rounder. Cause it's usually team going under tax that gives up the pick

But seriously this is what sucks about not having a GM. Hawes was acquired by 2nd round picks. Geez we couldn't have thought of that

We can't bring in that kind of salary, even if we had the picks to give.

We could probably get away with a 2nd rounder and Willie green or possibly Dudley. They are going to lose Deng so wouldn't hurt them to have another SF.
