I was just thinking about Kaman after the game yesterday and about his progress last season and the progress I had predicted that he would make this season, which was limited by injuries. There was a stage in the 05-06 season where I thought he could be a more dominating player than Brand in the near future, I think it was around the time of his 20-20 game where he was consistantly recording double-doubles.

He can use both hands around the ring, when he's balanced he can hit the soft jump-hook and his jumpshot has shown some improvement from just outside the key. His athleticism is also very good for a seven footer and his defense is solid.

Where do you see Kaman in the future? What type of player? Superstar/Allstar/Starter/Sixth-man?

(Predicted statistics would be nice to see where people are at.)

Possibly an All-Star because when they showed the fan votes standings throughout the season, he was the only Clipper listed because Centers are hard to come by.

Personally I'd be happy if he can average around 13 and 9 or 12 and 10 while shooting over 50%. I think he can be one of the top 5 or 6 centers in the league. This year he's way down at 45% after over 52% last year. That's a huge drop. The coaching staff says he works hard, so it might be a mental thing than anything else. But I really hope he works harder this summer- it didn't seem like he did that much last summer.

Sometimes Dunleavy plays him sparingly against "fastbreaking" teams like the Suns and the Warriors, but I wonder why not keep him and Brand together in there longer against those teams? I mean even Brand played only 33 minutes last night. Why so drastically adjust the attack to try to slow down the other team on defense? Why not keep pounding it inside and play YOUR game instead? Against those up-and-down teams I think Kaman and Brand can play their regular minutes but just need to be surrounded by 3 quick guards who can make the J and get back on D.

Everybody in this forum believed at the beginning of this season that Kaman was going to have a great impact...Right now we only can say that his game (hopefully only his numbers) have decreased.I don't know why:injuries, new contract, new mates...but the truth is that his numbers are not the same and I haven't got the same feeling about him...Anyways we know that although he's not a beast phisically he's a talented player with good skills and I still believe that the best Kaveman has still to come.Be ready!

I think that's a sign of weakness on Dunleavy's part. He doesn't have the confidence in his team. An Elite team will make the other team play to their style. An elite team will set the tempo and control the number of possessions in the game. That's how championship teams prevail. The Clippers will never win if they try running with the Suns. Not only do the Suns have the better players suited for that play style, they know how to run that system more effectively. The Clippers need to focus what they're strong at. That means banging it in the paint, playing half court sets, and getting the other team in foul trouble. The moment the Clippers deviate from their strong suit, the moment they lose.

Yeah I agree- if the other team wants to go small- why not punish them for it? I understand, however, there's a confidence issue with the coach (and probably warranted considering Kaman's overall disappointing play this season).

Also I thought JLemm made a good point earlier that Kaman should decide whether he should be a power player or a finesse player. Personally I think Kaman decided a long time ago that he's the latter. So many times we've seen him lob the ball towards the hoop instead of trying to dunk it and in the process draw contact. Although we've seen him make things look so easy on those nice post moves, a lot of times he make the easy seem difficult. He definitely needs to work extremely hard this summer to improve his game- the outside shot, decision-making/passing out of the double team, know where the double team is coming from, etc. I hope the Clipper staff really press him and help him over the summer. I mean they're already going to be paying him an average of $10 million/year, so why not spend a little more and assign a few coaches to work with him constantly over the summer? We definitely haven't seen the best he has to offer.

Finesse and power aren't either/or, they are and/both. How many true centers or old school power forwards can he back down? EB shirtless-granite, KC- bulemic purge. Is he allergic to iron?. This guy should be 280lb of stone. He won't lose any of his finesse. Then it's -pass from the double team (yeah he'll have to learn), single coverage. Repost. The defender is flying backwards or on his heels, great position. You know the rest. Combine this with the jumper and Cayman will be a ___ to defend. How's about a finger roll? (hope springs eternal) By the way who, do we play in the 1st round of the playoffs? (see previous statement)

ps. When will someone break Kobe's nose? Bring Laimbeer out of retirement.

Kobe... don't even get me started on that character. He may act and look innocent on the outside, but perceptions lie. First there was contest with Raja Bell, then Manu Ginobili, then Marko Jaric, and now it's Kyle Korver. I know it's wrong to advocate violence here, but someone needs to give #24 a taste of his own medicine.
