The LA Clippers traded Mike Taylor for Glen Davis...

No no, I was kidding. You guessed right the first time, the Los Angeles Clippers resigned restricted free agent Paul Davis, terms were not announced.

Paul Davis, 24, averaged 2.5 points, 2.1 rebounds and 0.5 assists in 8.8 minutes in 22 games last season. A former stand-out at Michigan State University, the 6-foot-11 center has career averages of 2.0 points and 1.7 rebounds in 7.1 minutes. The Clipper roster now stands at 15. I guess no more Elton Brown signing predictions! Just too bad, just too bad, this month just got even more slower... No more free agent signing predictions for us!

We have no more room... I doubt everyone will get consistent minutes as it is

I think he will be the 12 player in rotation.

We all knew the team needed a back-up PF or C (to help Skinner), but with P.Davis are we better off running D.Jordan in his rookie season or P.Davis as our 2nd string?

It is very good signing. We all know Brian Skinner is not a true backup center and DeAndre Jordon is just not quite ready for the NBA (for anyone who has seen his days at A&M or just glanced at his offensive statistics). The signing of Davis brings an OK backup center and can let Jordon develop in the D-Leauge and just brings more quality depth on the bench

...

I think we really needed a back up SF... We only have R. Davis to back up Thornton and maybe Novak but he's not a true SF.

Its an okay signing.

Excellent signing!!!! Paul Davis showed promise and improvement last year. Sucks he got hurt, but as long as he's healed from that, I think he's a great backup to Kaman.

We definitely have the most versatile collection of players of any NBA team. The Clippers shouldnt fail this year, and we dont expect them to!!! GO CLIPPERS!!

I think getting the PF/C spot filled opens it up for players to play their true role.

SF: Al Thorton/Ricky Davis/Tim Thomas(he is best here and now doesn't really have to play PF)/Steve Novak

Still wondering if we could have looked harder for a Center that brings a little more and takes the same amount of money.

Wouldn't have minded Big Baby Davis his energy would play well with Baron Davis. I was even starting to jump on the Elton Brown bandwagon.

Trade talk is always a never ending topic Smile

Good for Paul Davis...I've always thought that if you give him consistent minutes and let him work on his game, he's not a bad player.

Woo our final 15, maybe.

C: Kaman/Skinner/P. Davis*/Jordan*

PF: Camby/Thomas/Novak

SF: Thornton/R. Davis

SG: Mobley/Gordon

PG: B. Davis/Williams/Hart/Taylor*

*-inactive

I think Davis and Novak will be battling it out for the last 12th spot on the active roster, but I think Novak will get the spot.

Of the Powell/Fazekas/Paul Davis trio, I would have preffered those guys in that order. Davis seems like an okay dude, but both Powell and Fazekas have shown a little more on the court than P. Davis has thus far. But what it comes down to is one more big body deep in the bench (assuming that DeAndre Jordan is both able and needed only to play mop-up minutes). I guess he becomes third-string PF, pushing Novak into third-string SF. Lots of depth this year, let's hope for lots of health as well.

Your right... we should've just resigned Powell if I knew Davis would be our last guy.

I personally like Paul Davis more than Powell or Faz. Paul has more size, has good toughness, and can shoot the J. He must be 100% healed and ready to go for the Clippers to sign him. Kudos!

I like the Davis signing.....I think Powell has potential also, but Paul Davis is more polished.

Paul Davis is okay at the minimum. Definitley better than Turiaf at $4M or someone like Mark Madsen for $2M because Davis (along with a couple of years experience) may still have some upside yet.

It seems like everyone has a lot of competition at their respective positions and Paul Davis adds to that. It's great, gives the players more initiative to perform better

IMO there is competition for the second unit. First unit should be set. That second unit though will most likely be an ongoing competition amongst 10 players jockeying for minutes. Whom ever plays better hopefully gets more minutes. I hope MDsr. uses the D-League instead of letting the unused players rought on the bench like korolev did. If they are healthy and are gonna sit then send em down and give em playing time somewhere.

Powell, Davis, and Faz at one point or another all had a good game here or there last season. At the same time they are all backups at best.

Once we get into September, the season will be here before we know it. I can't wait to see the team silence the critics!

it's cool to debate the differences between powell and davis since there's nothing going on. before he blew out his acl davis' game was looking good. davis can bang and his outside shot was going down regular. but if davis averages more than 10 minutes it means the clippers have been hit by injuries and the season is toast.

I like this move. But in my opinion I think Powell would've been a better move for us.

btw,

"Paul Davis joins Baron Davis and Ricky Davis on the Clippers’ roster to bring the 'Davis' count to an NBA tying three."

Who's tied with the Davis'? What last name and which team?

Williams: Aaron, Alvin, and Eric ... I read it somewhere but can't remember which team that was.

paul davis has a lot to work on. In the few games he played last year he proved he wasnt an offensive threat and doesnt attack the basket like Kaman does. He has some potential but lets hope his injuries from last year dont slow him down

I am not the most thrilled about resigning Davis, but the one good thing about it that I think some people are overlooking is that he has been a Clipper for a few years now. I mean, another player may have been the better choice, but any other new players this year would just make things even crazier. I feel like the Clippers are almost an expansion team this year, except instead of getting a crappy choice of players, we are getting good ones.

From my point of view it just does not sit well with me that P.Davis is our 2nd string Center(if he was 3rd I wouldn't mind he would go to the reserve). After the Olympics Kaman may still need a month or two before he is back to full energy, so Davis may get above average PT.

I would be overall happier with a Center that has great potential or a veteran. I realize the mass number of C's in the league are low but still P.Davis. Plus he is coming off a serious injury.

C: Kaman/Skinner/P. Davis/Jordan

PF: Camby/Thomas/Novak

Paul Davis is currently the 15th man and third-string center, not second-string. P. Davis will likely be on the inactive list on most nights, along with Mike Taylor (if he makes the cut) and either Novak or DeAndre Jordan.

Paul Davis is this year's Aaron Williams/Boniface Ndong/Mammadou N'Dyiae/Vin Baker: Big man who will only need to play mop-up minutes once in a while. And if his role has to increase for whatever reason, he still has some upside.

-See I'm really really realllllllly trying to keep TT from having to play the PF spot this season. Rotate with R.Davis at SF as R.Davis rotates with E.Gordon at SG.

-Now with Novak I maybe can agree, but from what I've read from Houston fans he doesn't really have the power to hold off most PF. Maybe he can pick up something in MD system to change that.

-Think even though Skinner can play C he is more effective PF at heart, but again that may change.

Overall I hope your depth chart works.

P. Davis doesn't have to be 2nd string C. Camby can play minutes there when Kaman is resting, and Skinner as well. The top ten in the line-up are so flexible such that Paul is probably 11th or 12th man at best.
