It's one of those slow days of the summer, so hopefully, this thread would lift some of the boredom under our eyes. Just like the title, this thread could be about anything. It doesn't even have to be about basketball! However, I do not want to be under David's skin so the site's rules still applies 8) . If this doesn't work, at least I tried right?

So Clipper Nation, what's on your mind? wink

I am happy the Little League World Series is over.

When I was a kid playing baseball was still a sport. Now it's just another game. Pitch count, pop out bases, No on-deck hitter.....what the heck? They might as well all have skirts and throw under handed because it's not the way I grew up playing baseball.

What happened from then to now? Huh?????? Seriously....what bad happened? Injuries will happen in any sport, you can sugar coat it but you will never prevent it! Let's the kids play....stop making up stupid rules.

Also, I hate seeing kids wear their hats so their "bangs" hang out in front. Who does that? I don't see any major leaguers doing that. It's all from the south and it's the most ridiculous thing I see every year. I'm just glad I don't have to deal with hearing Harold Reynolds talking about Ice Cream anymore.

Darn kids and their hair now-a-days! But really, the little kids, and by kids i mean boys, with long hair is ridiculous.

Good idea! I just created an "Everything Else" forum so if you guys want to talk about anything non-Clipper and non-bball related that would be the place. It's on the right side right below the NBA Forum.

There's this one guy named David who throws 40 mph in some little league and the other kids parents wants to keep him out because he's "too good". They said that they don't want their kids to feel bad because they're sure that they would strike out. So right now, David is not playing the game at all and he said that he feels bad because he is not playing.

One thing I'd like to tell those parents is that sports is not fair. Seriously, if you don't want them to feel bad, don't let them play them play the game at all, or they should hire a team to just tank for their kids. These parents can't protect their kids forever anyways. These kids would later find out that they suck at the sport anyway when they get to highschool, even middle school. Those parents are just teaching their kids that its better to run away from a challenge than to actually experience that challenge. Your right tim, these kids are basically spoon fed. It's not their fault though, its just their over protective parents.

Oh, of course I've heard of this. It's been on sports radio and tv for the past few days. I think it's so unfair....especially since they're in an independent-sponsor driven league. This would NEVER happen in Little League....for as much as I bashed it above.

I loved playing Little League, but I loved playing in the other leagues much more. I played on a Club Team in La Habra. I played on 2 Sunday Mexican Teams, I played on My High School team, along with the Little League. Little League was the only team that I had to wear rubber cleats for. You know how hard it is to pivot in rubber cleats? On dirt it's not easy. Other than that, it's descent competition.....but Pony League or Club Ball is better for improvement. They do spend most time to groom you for the big boys game.

This is a case of parents scared their children will get hurt. Is it fair? No. It's part of the game. If they were afraid a ball might hit and bruise little Bobby, then they should have put him in a sport where he can live with being a wuss.

The first at bat of the first game I ever played when I was a child I was hit by the pitch. It RUINED me for my first ever season. I came back strong and being the best player in my second year. Baseballs don't have teeth (well...not unless they hit you in the mouth). They don't bite. Just get on the horse and try again. I did and I was very successful with the sport.

It's not only baseball that parents are so horrible with now. Toys too...how much Led Paint did we eat when we were young? I was born in 1980. I'm sure anyone older than me had 10 times more Led Paint than me. Are you still alive? Did it kill you? No....these toys are more safe now then ever. I was playing with WWE Figures the size of my head that had wires popping out after a few weeks of play. I remember metal sticking out of Hulk Hogan's arm. Oh, and I know that it had to be covered with some really bad paint. So bad....that it didn't do anything to me.

I'm not a parent yet...but I hope to be soon. I will be married in a few months...I hope. So a child should come after...I don't know how long after though. I don't think I will ever fault a company or someone for anything unless it's COMPLETELY negligant. We'll see...talk is easy ^_^

I'm a UCLA guy here....it doesn't look good today. I wish I could have been there....but I honestly didn't want to deal with the heat and everything else. I will go to a few games this year. I love supporting my Bruins.
