According to the most recent ESPN the magazine, there is news concerning Shaun Livingston. I can't find a link on the net but this is what I read.

I like that he may be ready for camp...but don't know how to feel about him thinking he's going to test the free agent market.

Wow- that's pretty awesome. I had a feeling that he'd be better sooner than expected after seeing pictures of him walking around without crutches. So maybe we don't need to draft a PG after all.

As far as the free agency thing- he's probably just thinking that the Clippers aren't going to give him an extension. That's probably fair to both sides- the Clippers can't commit tons of money on him and see him get injured again- they need to see if he can hold up for an entire season. On the other end of it he probably doesn't want to be low-balled into a cheap long term contract if he does come back strong next season.

Yeah...it's Trail By Fire time for Livingston. He has to prove he was worth drafting, and he knows it.

Free Agency? Test the waters? You got to be kidding me. There could not be a worse time to try that than after spending you first 3 years in the league mostly in rehab from terrible injuries, especially while you are still sporting a frail looking body. He might be lucky to even get an extension offer from the Clips who still like Shaun. Nobody will offer him big money or long term money. At least not until he can prove he can play at least a couple of seasons without injury.

Sometimes I can be the Ayatollah of Overstatement (GS/Bulls) but this is straight up. I work in the medical field in LA and I've seen a lot of bad knees, none like that and I talked to some orthopedists and some other Docs and they've never seen one like his. There is also a "Grapevine" in LA. A reliable source told me he'd never play again. I REALLY hope they're wrong. World class athletes can amaze us all but...

Bah- what do you orthopedist and medical field pros know! Wink

I think being so young definitely helps Shaun. The question now may be will he be ready by training camp???

Any one have any news on Shaun's condition? I know it's still early and Shaun needs a lot of time for his wounds to heal, but any helpful info would be appreciated. A lot of experts and doctors wrote Livingston's career off - but come on, I'm sure you can name more than a few inspirational comebacks coming back from seemingly career ending injuries.

Is there a possibility he'll be able to suit up at the start of the season?

BTW here's an article recently in the OC Register on Shaun's progress- sounds like he's making progress: Three months ago, Shaun Livingston suffered what Clippers team physician Tony Daly described as the most catastrophic knee injury he has seen in his 24 years attending to NBA players. It was feared that the devastation to Livingston's left knee could be career-ending. But for the past two weeks, Livingston has been working out four days a week as he attempts to return from the frightful injury that saw him tear three ligaments, in addition to dislocating his kneecap. His spirits remain high. Still three months....
