Heck if NY wants them, I thinks Clips should take any player they can get in return... team improves without these guys

Blog speculation.

This is the same guy that insisted that Curry and Crawford would exercise their ETO's for the good of the team in 2010 (LOL).

You have to give Mobley some credit though, he's been on fire lately. However, I can't imagine NY doing this, their offense would greatly be slowed down... But, I guess any other speed would be an improvement compare to Randolph's. Smile

Hmmm... If Harington's back does hold up... He could become a better fit for the Knicks.

Isn't Zach a starter....so who would come off the bench?

We need a "journalist" who'll start rumors on our behalf, with our interests in mind.

Mobley for Gerald Wallace and a first round pick. We'd be shallow at SG, but deep everywhere else.

For the Bobcats... who cares? No one ever considers our side anyway.

Well with mobley gone it would open up a world of possibilities for little E. Gordon. But again, we would have 3 big men who would want to start so who's coming off the bench?

I guess this would be a good trade.....if the Clips front office was sure they couldn't land anyone in 2010. I doubt we would anyways.

OK, I just found it.

Here is the deal:

It looks like Knicks will get Harrington ( $ 9.2 mil) for Malik Rose ( $7.6 mil) or Jamal Crawford ($8.6 mil) if the story is true. If that is the case, then I doubt the Newsday story is true considering there is no need for a third team to get involved which is what Newsday is implying.

Here is the tidbit on the Mobley & TT story:

Wow, if we get rid of Mobely & Thomas, there goes our chances for the Lottery in 2010. Highly doubt this has any merit.

From rotoworld.com, a fantasy sports website. But, for what it's worth...

"Al Harrington is rumored to have been traded to the Knicks on Friday, although details are still unclear.

Three possible scenarios exist, with the Knicks sending either Jamal Crawford or Malik Rose to the Warriors in the first two. The third and newest option, reported by Newsday, has the Clippers and Warriors sending Harrington, Tim Thomas and Cuttino Mobley to the Knicks, with Crawford, Zach Randolph and Mardy Collins being moved between the Clips and Warriors. This would clear cap space for the Knicks and give Harrington a starting job with Randolph out of the way. Stay tuned as details emerge throughout the day."

Don't worry about it... it hasn't even happened yet. I'm sure MD has an idea if he's going to pull this off.

Put him at point. lol

In all seriousness though. Randolph could come off the bench as an energy guy. When our starting bigs sits down, I've noticed that no one could score which makes our perimeter bench scoring much tougher to come by...

So is it going to be EG at the starting SG and Ricky coming off? Novak moving to SF?

this makes no sense, they have already a trade in the mix, Harrington for for malik rose. I guess they are rebuliding, i thought they had a chance at the playoffs this year. If the Zach randolph trade goes through there team will no improve. I would love a trade like this, just seems too good to be true

Anyone notice the contracts don't even match?

Edit: My mistake, they do. But it still seems like wishful thinking on their behalf (getting rid of 2 of the 4 bloated contracts that run through 2011)

Here is the tidbit on the Mobley & TT story:

Quote:
Three-way deal?

Just heard this seconds ago...

The Knicks, Warriors and Clippers are talking about a three-way deal that would involve Jamal Crawford, Zach Randolph and Mardy Collins being sent in a cap-space clearing move that would bring in Tim Thomas, Cuttino Mobley and Al Harrington.

The contracts on all three incoming players expire in 2010.

Trying to confirm this now.

Stay tuned . . .

cry

I really want to trade TT... besides the first two games (and that was without Camby), he's been dead weight. What really annoys me is his lack of passion for defense.

Well if this does go through we lose 2 players, gain one, which means Jordan can now suit up. His odds of playing just got a whole lot worse but at least he can be in uniform lol.

yeah but he's 6'9" lol Crazy big lineup. And then no room for Al. I can't imagine the lineup being BD, EG/Ricky, Zack, Camby, Chris. Wink

Or........BD, Thornton, Zack, Camby, Chris lol

Weird thing is... it seems that NY fans wants it to happen a lot more than us.

There whole bet was landing LBJ... that's a pretty crazy gamble considering that they have to wait a year or two..

I sincerely hope this doesn't happen.

  1. Randolph is on a short list of NBA players that i consider to be a cancer in the league. Bad attitude, bad work ethic. We already have Ricky Davis, we don't need more of those types of players.

  2. Who needs Randolph with Both Kaman and Camby still on the roster??? We're going to be paying like 13 million for a guy to come off the bench???

  3. There goes our plans for the 2010/2011 season. Randolph's contract doesn't expire until 2011/2012. Of course 9 million will be coming off the books when Camby's contract dies, but that's still not enough to land a superstar.

The only way this trade could make sense is if Kaman is about to be traded. However even if the trade makes sense, i still don't like Randolph.

No one is even sure that we'll land a superstar in 2010... As much as I hate to admit it, we ARE the Clippers. All those players may might as well resign with their current teams for all we know.

That's the only part I don't get either. But honestly, do we see this team landing a superstar in 2010 with all the other available teams with money. With that being said, if we do wait out for 2010 and we don't get a big name player, there will be some great players that aren't "superstars" for the picking.

True, but with about 20 million in cap space, we can just outbid.

Plus the upside is coming to play with BD and a 2 years more mature Thornton.

its plain and simple, if we want to win now, trade for zach. If we want to be an ok team till 2010 and try to sign a superstar, then dont get Zach. Its a gamble both ways.

The rules of the market applies to all players not just Lebron. What I mean by that is that they make more money in endorsements than yearly salary. They will make more by playing in a major market.Does not matter what team as long as you play in the city.

Newsday is owned by the same corporation that owns the Knicks and Madison Square Garden, so you take it for what its worth.

As for the potential trade, the only guy I would want from the Knicks is David Lee, and maybe Jamal Crawford. No thanks for Randolph.

Yeah but you got places like New York and possibly the Brooklyn Nets with big markets. Also who knows if the players will even leave. Besides I doubt these big name players will pick a money market city over a winning contender...though who knows...but they all have plenty of money and plenty of ways to make much more without new contracts and endorsements.

The Clippers aren't a very appealing team at the moment. But hey I'd love to get Bosh or Dirk but again they could very well stay with their current team.

Logical fallacy: False dichotomy (do it or else...)

You're assuming a better deal won't come along between now and 2010. Notice the deal can be made without the Clippers (as clipper*joe points out earlier). The 3-team trade is conjured so that the Knicks get a sweetheart deal, courtesy of Hahn's speculation (adding Harrington PLUS getting rid of both Crawfor and Randolph). That is the kind of selfish mentality that the Clippers must adopt in order to come away winners in any trade deal.

Furthermore, there's no guarantee that Randolph, despite his talent, will make us better. The knock on this team has been its lack of defense and FG%. Randolph won't help there, according to his history (both statistical and anecdotal).

Finally, the chance that a superstar wouldn't be available sure didn't stop the Sixers from dealing Iverson for cap relief, which they turned into Elton Brand (though, ironically, he doesn't seem to be the answer either).

L.A,New York,Chicago,Boston are the Major markets. And New York is not a contender.Lebrons contract is valid for L.A as well as New York with Nike. Not saying we are in the running for him but for Bosh or Amare the chance to get an extra 20-30 mil from a shoe contract can be mighty appealing.

There you go.

The Knicks are very desperate to rid themselves of Randolph (gee, wonder why?)

That the Clippers must be dumb/desperate enough to pursue him is going to linger among the biased speculators until either the Knicks find another taker (sucker) or we turn Mobley/Thomas into something great.
