Now ya'll might not agree with my prediction but this is just how I believe the Clippers Season is going to be like:

Shaun Livingston is basically out for 2 season even tho it's speculated that he might play half way through the new season; none the less, he's OUT FOR THE COUNT!...

Now...I see Sam Cassell having a sort of 50/50 breakout year before he retires. Do you remember when he said to Charles & Kenny Smith on TNT about how they should watch out for him next season when he's all healthy? Well...I have a hunch that he'll be back to his prime form when he first played for the Clippers 2 seasons ago. He & Elton Brand will connect once again, EB will get easy shots when "the general" is on the floor 'cuz of quick post up plays...post up & quick outside pass for a 3 for cassell and give and goes. Sam Cassell has to prove one last thing before he retires because he's the kind of player who does not wanna go w/out a bang. I believe the only reason why the Clippers didnt have the same productive season as 2 years back was because there was a rift between him (cassell) and livingston on who should be the starter of the team. It's not because they had disagreements or miscommunications or what not...it's simply because it was up in the air on the issue of who should be the starting point for the clippers. Both basically had to split minutes in order to see if it was going to work out. It would have been great if both became an excellent duo @ PG, but Sam Cassell was not used to that kind of system and it was costly for the team. Cassell got hurt and Livingston had a scary career-ending type injury.

But now, Cassell knows the urgency to show everyone that he still got some spark, a quick first step...he'll step up and step up real well!

EB will be a MONSTER this season, he'll get better & get more shots. He understood that after losing Cassell & Livingston that he had to take the whole team on his back in order to have a small chance in making the playoffs....and they almost did! Now that Cassell is back, he'll get more perimeter shots because to me, that was the one that lacked in his game just this season. EB had to go through the paint in order to score & rely on himself to score. Watch and see EB & Cassell go at it this coming season!

Kaman....tsk tsk tsk...oh Kaman.

Some say he can be compared to the next "Tim Duncan" (heard it on the radio)...

But he has a long way to becoming somewhat of a Tim Duncan-"ish" type player. Chris Kaman needs to understand that he needs to be more aggressive in the paint and power himself through and through. He's good with his switch hook shots & put-backs. Rebounding...now he's a beast at that area as well! But his inconsistency has also been costly. In some plays, you can actually see him give up on a play and just go walk to his spot and expect nothing...that needs to change. I see Kaman having, not a break-out year, but a big step forward @ getting better with his post-up game & rebounding. It would be good if he developed an outside game.

Maggette needs to understand that he is not KOBE and will never BE KOBE! Play your own game...that is what I would say to him if I was his Coach...oh wait...he does not have a very good communication w/Dunleavy...BUT THAT HAS TO STOP! Maggette will have something to prove as well because through the end of the season, he showed the kind of quality player he was...(win against the lakers +30pts). I see him being a beast at both rebounding, perimeter, and slashing through the D for layups/dunks!

my prediction for this season:

[48-34]

[49-33]*

[50-32]

[51-31]

GOOOOO CLIPPPEEERRS!

I love your enthusiam. And predictions about how some of our current stars will perform next season is a good discusion. But we do not even know as yet who is going to be playing for our team next year. We haven't had the draft yet. Our summer league squad has not as yet been assembled. We do not know if both Diaz and Baby Shaq will be here. We haven't signed any free agents, not have we made any trades. We do not know who will be invited to camp. We do not know who will be healthly. With all these question marks, the discussion about how the team will perform next season, will be more fruitfull in October. Based on what we know today, there is no reason to expect this team to do much better than how we finished last season. But when all the above questions get answered, then as Clipper fans, we can dream of what is to be.

I'm no expert, but I'm gonna go ahead and say the Clips win the Pacific division. I know it dont seem like it right now, It seems like they're still figuring it out...but the Clippers have a way with surprising us, dont they?? I got no logic to back this statement out, I just feel like this is the year. They took a step backwards (in standings, in production), in order to take a couple steps forward for 2007-2008. If I'm wrong, well its not the first or last time a Clipper fan has hoped high and the team came up short. This is sports, they cant all win. anyways...I'll go with 54-28, a game over the Suns for the Pacific division.

Ah JF, ye of little faith. Go straight to the confessional and do your pennance Smile

J-43. I think the Clipps surprised us LAST YR. They should have kicked keister. Every starter ( meaning Sam and Cory etc) on a given day can light it up. The Magette meltdown, starting #14 (get well soon lil' bro'), Sam hurt so no PG (an important position in our offense), what ever PO'd EB, Kayman's existential battle (it's too bad steroids are illegal, he could really benefit ----KIDDING--- sorta). Only in LA. It's surprising they almost made the Play Offs. Next yr. I'd bet they win the Pacific division.

By the way has Corey ever posted anyone? He could knock down a wall. Is it lack of a turn around jumper, a lack of desire??

ps

A multiple choice question-- A Boobie is

a. A bird so stupid it flies onto the deck of ships to be promptly eaten

b. Something sported by Dolly Parton

c. A prize given to you when you lose-- real bad

d. A hidden trap that destroys you by blowing up in your face

The winner gets a Mike Dunleavy autographed pocket hanky

(Sorry David I couldn't resist)

I've been watching some highlight clips of the Clippers-Suns semi's two seasons ago...and it's real disappointing to see where the team had end up coming off a damn good playoff series which they could have won 2 games before falling in 7 (i remember the Cassell meltdown when he didnt realize there was 19 seconds on the shot clock and he had to advance the ball upcourt & the damn 3 that Bell knocked down when it should have been Cassell guarding him instead of Ewing...at least once Bell got the ball, Ewing shoulda fouled him right off the bat before tryna set up a shooting position). The memories is very haunting. But I believe that the Clippers will make NOISE and be a damn contender for the Western Conference Finals & then the Championship. Golden State barely got in the playoffs too...but they showed more heart than the Clippers towards the end.

Im expecting a Championship year for the Clips regardless whether they take Nick Young, Rudy Fernandez, Acie Law ..who ever....

Yeah I agree- I think Sam is going to have a pretty good season, and EB is going to come back with a vengeance. I think Kaman will too after the deeply disappointing overall performance he had last season.

I don't think, however, that Ewing should be the goat of that Clippers-Suns series. I mean Cassell is not exactly a great defender, and Daniel did have a hand in Bell's face- it was just a great shot.

But yeah I think all we need are just a few more pieces to the puzzle, assuming that the current core players are going to improve. I'm not sure if they're going to win the Pacific but heck it's possible.

BTW Toohip I'm not sure what that question has to do with anything but I say choice (e), all of the above???

I sure hope that Clippers management is not suffering from the same delusions that you guys are. If so, they will draft horribly, make no trades, sign no free agents, and assume that we are just fine and we are going to win .........uh.........er.........somthing. I pray that they do not read some of the comments above, for they may think that the Clipper fans feel we're good, and the roster is ready to rule the roost. As it stands today, this Clipper team will finish next season about where they did this season. Sorry, with the upcoming improvements in the West, at Seattle, Golden State and Portland, we could end up in last place. Hear me, with the roster as it is right now, this could be the most disappointing season in memory. Right now, we can count on Brand and Maggette producing every night. We have no reason to believe that any other player on our current roster will do so. Kaman, Mobley, Thomas, Q, and Cassell (injuries) were inconsistant and I can not think of any reason to think these guys will step up EVERY night, other than wishful thinking. Jason Hart did show some heart, and all the rest of the players didn't play much. We should assume Livingston is gone. If you read the reports from medical insiders that say that his injuries are among the worst they have ever seen, makes his recovery, ever, suspect. A #14 draft pick or a free agent signing with a MLE will probably not be enough to fix this roster. Bringing in Diaz and Baby Shaq sounds like fun, but these are unproven players at the NBA level. So if we do not make a blockbuster trade that favors us, where and how are we going to upgrade this roster against a Western Division that just got stronger with the 1 and 2 picks going to Seattle and Portland. I know I am Jamfan, and I am one of the Clippers biggest cheerleaders. But this summer I am cheerleading for Clippers management to get something done. If not...........I'm very worried.

I got one thing to say:

Teams dont improve with transactions alone, they improve through better play.

Well said. The San Antonio Spurs play better. So do the Suns. Faster and better horses help them finish the race at the front of the pack. I just want to get the best so we can too. In the NBA, you can not make to many roster mistakes. You must choose wisely. We are just a couple of wise choices away from getting there so we can play better. Wise choices means getting the right players who will play together well, with good chemistry. The Lakers assembled 4 Hall of Famers a couple of season ago and couldn't get it done. So, Stars alone are not the answer. The Spurs and Suns play well as a team.

I don't think the two above responses are mutually exclusive but are complimentary answers in a way. Yes we need to play better as a team AND yes we need a good acquisition. The later will be difficult because Brand, Kayman, Maggette and Sam are locked. Q pretty much is too. No BS guys, my grapevine on #14 goes through a couple of people but starts with people who know his case REAL REAL WELL (read between the lines) and unless there's a miracle, he's gone. Even if Baby Shaq etc. turn out well, they won't be our saviors in 07-08. As far as chemistry, ignoring all the bickering, we lost our Personality last yr when Sam couldn't start. SC is our Achilles and our Achilles heel. He was our cold blooded assasin and our linch-pin. Without a healthy (doubtful) Sam, who's going to be our go-to guy? It seems EB may have assumed leadership of the team (remember the comment after last yr's blowout) and he won't put up with BS but he doesn't seem to be Mr Clutch. Can Corey do it???? If not then who?

We need first for Corey to work on his game and do something in addition to crashing the boards and Chris as well needs to work but he also has to decide if he really wants to play. He can easily retire with his millions. We also need a cheap Chauncy Billups but who and how?

EB has shown that he can be a clutch player- I remember several times when he's delivered with huge jump shots in the final minutes of games. That's not to mention the countless times he's swatted away shots to help preserve Clipper victories.

So what's the word on Shaun? Are you saying he's not going to be able to play for sure this coming season???

I think they'll be 8-10 games better because Chris Kaman will break through this coming up year for us since he struggled last year. I think we'll do well in the draft no doubt I got faith in em. Sam Cassell should do well next season same as Elton Brand and Corey Maggettee and everyone else. Like I said if we can add some defenders to the SF and PG spots we should be tough to beat next year. Defense helps you win games and championships.

Franks prediction

50-32
