I like to compare the LA Clippers against the Spurs because this will give us an idea what we need in the future for the draft and offseason.

This stat tells us what we need overall in the draft and the free agency season. We need defense on the Point guard and Shooting Guard position. If we keep Jason Hart and add like Rudy Fernandez or Alice Law this should relieve the -2.5 stat in PG and SG. We also need to add a defender at SG spot too. Since the San Antonio Spurs are a championship team once again thanks to their defense in 2007 they won their 4th title in 9 years. This will definitely help us compare what the Clippers have and don't have. Only reason why we made the playoffs last year was with defense we need defense this year in order to make it and Chris Kaman, Tim Thomas, Cuttino Mobley, Corey Magettee, and Elton Brand has to become more productive defensively for the 2007-08 season if they want to have a chance to make the playoffs 2 out of 3 seasons.

Lack of team chemistry was also the reason and unbalanced play also.

Yeah I think some of the PG defense problems was due to Shaun going down. I agree 100% though that we need to re-focus on defense like two seasons ago- there's no reason why we can't play defense like the Spurs- the potential and talent is there.

Good D is easy to ask for but hard to get. 06-07 The Clipps did their talking on the court. Kinda like Rocky, it wasn't pretty but it worked. Last yr we lost that identity and identity governs a lot of your behavior. This yr it's EB's team and they'll take on more of EB's attitude (I hope). Then they'll be a lot more pressure for the guys to do the "D"

Kayman needs to do a lot of work on the basics (I'm still not a great CK fan). He's always in foul trouble and we need his offence--"D" vs points. Tim Thomas often has his own agenda which sometimes includes working hard. I think 50 will be motivated to play D this yr. And yeah guys losing li'l bro' #14 didn't help. The arithmetic- If CK does his homework ( I 've said this ad nauseum) and Mikey takes a Popovich pill it looks like a plus .

As far as Hart after my original elation, I think the chance of him being the PG we need is much less than 50/50--not good odds to bet your season on but a great backup. As per David we don't need a pure PC but again who's on the table?

If they can get Theo then they can put Hart as backup for defensive purposes.

Here is an interesting article on evaluating this year's point guards in the draft using purely statistics:

Stuckey might be the best choice if we want a scoring machine from the position.

Versatile guards who do a little bit of everything, like Rodney Stuckey and Zabian Dowdell, top this list. Mike Conley Jr. and Acie Law continue to find themselves at or near the top of many different statistics. Mike Conley Jr. and Jared Jordan are very good in efficient wise Alice Law will be picked by the Hawks for sure. The most important Stat is Assist to turnover ratio in a point guard. Didn't the Clippers worked out with Rodney Stuckey, Mike Conley and Jared Jordan yet? This is a win and win situation if you're the Los Angeles Clippers.
