"A source close to the situation confirmed that the Sixers offered Samuel Dalembert to the Clippers for fellow center Chris Kaman, but the Clippers weren't interested. The issues with Dalembert are his inconsistent play and contract, which contains a 15 percent trade kicker (roughly $4.5 million) that a team trading for him would have to pay up front, in addition to the $23.6 million he's owed from 2009-11. " http://www.phillyburbs.com/news/news_details/article/117/2009/january/ 18/elton-brands-return-sparks-interesting-dilemma-for-streaking-sixers .html In other words: Kaman>Dalembart But this sounds strange. Is it possible Brand asked the 6ers to try landing his former front-court partner? I mean, why else would they even ask about Kaman? They....

Kaman and Camby aren't gonna be traded. They can keep trying but unless they offer us something worth more than Kaman we won't do a straight up trade.

I wouldn't do this. Dalembert is paid more than Kaman is, he's too inconsistent and doesn't offer the nice jumper, and footwork that Kaman does. He adds a bit of defense but is stagnant on offense. Our offense is horrible right now. Another thing, Kaman's worth alot more.

Aren't the Sixers on a winning streak? Why would they want change?

Now THAT I would do.

Sixers need to get rid of their run n' gun players anyways if they're going to play with Brand.

Exactly. I mean, surely the 6ers must be implying that Young (whose been flourishing as their PF) would be included. Afterall, Brand would be moved back to starting PF, and they seem to be high on Speghts (however you spell it) as back up.

If so, the Clippers could still probably do better than Dalembart/Young, I think. And just to clarify, when I said counter with Samb, I mean offer Cheick Samb straight up for Young, see how they like being bothered with these kind of proposals.

I would just trade Baron to Philly. Let Miller go to a third team and we get young players and depth in return. Then you move Kaman for a PG like Hinrich or Felton. We've got enough scorers on the team right now where we don't need our PG to score the ball. We just need someone that can play D, not turn the ball over, and hit the open jumper.

We won't make any moves though. We'll get healthy and build for next year. In the process we'll drop to the later half of the lottery, screwing up getting one of the top guys. This is fine by me as well. We've drafted well lately and have tons of talent. For once we might be in position to take the best player available.

bayless is a shoot-first PG, if not a true SG.

gordon + rubio = scarier

Gordon + Bayless if i had to choose from current talent

If i had to choose from the draft it would be Gordon + Brandon Jennings.

HAVE YOU SEEN THAT GUY? If you need a ridiculous PG, you go to where great PG's are born... Arizona my friend... Find some Brandon Jennings highlights, you won't be disappointed.

But then again, Zach Randolph isn't exactly an open court player himself. It's tempting to pick up players because they're athletic or because they are talented, but before you do you have to have a vision of where the team is going. You have to ask yourself, okay, what type of team are we going to be??

Run and gun??

Half-court style??

Front court focused??

Back court focused??

Defensively focused??

When you look at what we have between Randolph, Kaman, Camby, Gordon and Thornton, I see a grind it out, half court minded team that could play some really good defense. I wouldn't trade anyone but Baron because he doesn't fit.

I don't understand how you guys love Bayless so much.. He hasn't proven anything in the NBA level yet. He doesn't even look NBA ready... Yet. Every minute I've seen him, he looks lost and confused.

He's the Summer League MVP TCI!

Yay, he scored on Curtis Sumpter and Coby Karl.. Cool!

I've never been a fan. I could very well be, he was very talented in college. But just like every other pick, he has to prove himself to me first. I know I was a fan of Gordon before he did, but that's different. He's a Clipper and I have Clipper bias > : D

Oh and I agree with ekker, Brandon Jennings is AMAZING. He might end up going #1... But Rubio might also.

One guy I have my eye on, is DeMar Derozan.

I usually have a good eye for talent. For example, I loved these guys in college before they were even picked (and they were passed up on by a bunch of teams).

Jordan Farmar

Luc Richard M'Baha Mute

Aaron Afflalo

Darren Collison

Shane Battier (I was a HUGE fan of him at Duke)

Carlos Boozer

Jay Williams

Chris Duhon (The guys I listed from Battier to Duhon were teammates on an incredible Duke team)

Mario Chalmers

Ben Gordon

and many more I can't remember. I can't help but think that Derozan is going to drop to the 20's and he's going to be talented and successful as hell. Watch some of his high school highlights on YouTube, they'll blow your mind. He's doing pretty decent at USC too.

Some of the college players I love this year...

It goes without saying, but Blake Griffin.

I also love Tyler Hansborough, Taj Gibson, Josh Shipp, Darren Collison, and Sharron Collins.

Bayless has been playing of late and he looks pretty damn good. Strong and quick enough to do whatever he wants. He gets to the hole at will and is drawing fouls. Bayless and Gordon together in the backcourt would be pretty dynamic and a great start to the future.

yeah i like bayless but i also like westbrook. the combo of bayless and gordon and thornton or westbrook and gordon and thornton is scary. then we add in deandre jordan in there and we draft a PF, and we are set.

Starting lineup: bayless

gordon

thornton

????????

Jordan

bench: Taylor

mardy or Fred

Novak

??????

Samb????lol idk

this is not a trade proposal or anything im just saying this is what our lineups would have been like if we had bayless.

As far as what we might need, either in the draft or via trades, didn't Eric say in his chat(s) that Dunleavy and management were more or less decided to build around the youthful talents of Gordon and Al for the long run? Emphasis on "run" there as both guys are more than capable of the speed game. This is down the road a bit, but it would make the Dalembart offer less fantastic. Sure, on the face of it Kaman is a much more accomplished player, but Dalembart does run a bit more effectively and possibly is a little less injury prone. Still wouldn't do the deal though, Kaman is too valuable. I also wouldn't look for Philly to deal Young anytime in the next millennium, he's probably the most untouchable player on their roster besides AI unless the offered deal was just ridiculous. They're saying that they'll continue their running style, and it's up to Brand to fit in. Considering recent success that makes sense. It does, as journeyman points out, make the Dalembart offer odd though on the face of it. As to our needs... it looks like we will eventually run, Baron-led or not. Picking up one of the young point guards in the draft (Rubio, Jennings, Holiday, Collison etc) might be the play to make, but after Griffin if there's a surer mortal lock than Harden I haven't seen him. Really like him! Having Gordon AND Harden is the kind of problem coaches and GM's dream about.

I'd only move Kaman to Philly for Young and Lou Wills. Everybody else is garbage and Iggy would be too expensive for us to get.
