Yep I'm sure they'll end up as solid contributors for other teams. I hope they do well- just not against the Clippers Wink.

BTW add Yaroslav Korolev in there as well- he'll be a free agent come Sunday too.

Here's the official word BTW:

Clippers Waive Ewing; Decline to Exercise Option on Singleton

The Los Angeles Clippers today waived guard Daniel Ewing and declined to exercise the third-year contract option on forward James Singleton, it was announced by Vice President of Basketball Operations Elgin Baylor.

In two years with the Clippers, Ewing averaged 3.4 points, 1.4 assists 13.3 minutes per game. Ewing was the 32nd overall selection by the Clippers in the 2005 NBA Draft.

Singleton, who originally signed with Los Angeles as a free agent prior to the start of the 2005-06 NBA season, averaged 2.6 points, 2.7 rebounds and 10.1 minutes per game over his two-year career with the Clippers. In a related matter, the Clippers also declined to tender Singleton a qualifying offer, making him an unrestricted free agent as of July 1st.

With these moves, the Clippers’ roster currently stands at 11 players.

Well we are all sorry because we know that Ewing and Singleton were good players. Problem is, Coach didn't think so and didn't use them hardly at all. So, maybe it will be better for them. I think Singleton will get another job in the NBA. Ewing might have to go to Europe, but might catch on somewhere. Looks like Guillermo Diaz is a lock to make the roster now. My inside source tells me that Baby Shaq is not coming this year, maybe next year. His contract has him locked up.

Farewell James, Daniel and Yaroslav...time to bring on Guillermo, Al and Jared. I was hoping for the waiving of Ewing. He showed promise and is a decent player, but the drafting of Thornton and Q-Ross staying, combined with the all-but-official transaction of Diaz, leaves little room for him to play at all. I'll miss Singleton becuz I dont think he was given enough of a chance. "Yaroslav who?" is correct. Nothing against him, but he didnt show much to warrant a position.

Releasing Singleton = bad move. JamFan hit the nail on the head; Dunleavy doesn't like his game. But I think other teams could use him (Houston made some noises a few weeks ago). So LAC could have extended him, then traded him for something minor (2nd round draft pick). Anyway, get something for him.

LAC also has a gap at backup PF (Williams & Davis too slow to play other than Center), Thomas not strong enough. So Singleton still had a role that they'll need to replace. I'm sure there was a backup PF in the league they could have traded him straight up for.

He'll get picked up by someone.

Looks Singleton will be signed by Phoenix. So one of the best teams in the NBA can see the potential that Singleton has even though the lowly Coach Dumleavy can not. James will become a high fly act with a high flying team, and will come back to LA to embarrass Dumleavy. James starts with the Phoenix summer league team next week.

Good for James- the run-n-gun style of Phoenix more suits his game anyways. Imagine if Phoenix is able to improve his outside shooting- he'd be a dangerous guy off the bench.

Jumping James is the man. Dumbleavy really blew this one...almost as bad as he blew taking Korolev when Gerald Green fell into our lap. James was only going to get $800K, why cut him??"?

Well maybe it was a case where James requested it or it was a mutual agreement after the Clippers drafted Al Thornton. James probably wasn't going to get much more time and opportunity here so he though/or management thought that it would be better for him to go elsewhere to get playing time.

Singleton 15, I read so much stuff, I can't recall at the moment the source, but it was reported that James was on their Summer league roster for Phoenix. They have to at least sign a non guaranteed free agent contract to play. He may have more of a cmmittment from Phoenix, but it is as of this moment unreported. He may have to earn a roster spot. We'll see. I think if he plays, he gets his spot. He will not be denied. He fits with Phoenix.
