This is ridiculous. Frankly, Dunleavy should've at least learned something from the disaster that was signing BD. Trying to sign out of date superstars will never work, BD refuses to conform to our game style, and MC is not what he once was. TMac would be even worse because he falls into this category, AND he's out for the rest of the season, possibly longer. Plus he comes with a ridiculous wage consdiering he won't be able to walk.
As far as I'm concerned, excluding ZR who has turned out good for us even if he can't control his temper, our best and most solid, reliable players our AT, EG and veterans like MC and SN who is going big from three and along with EG gives us some outside presence.
All these players have a high work rate and want to gel together as MDs team, not BDs. We need to remove him and look for a hard working, pass first shoot last guard, either a veteran or a talented fresh face. I don't have many suggestions for this but I know this is the kind of guard we need to look for.
I'm sorry man. Baron Davis as you put it was not "an out of date superstar" when we signed him. He was coming of career years and with like 44% FG in his last 2 years in Golden State. Alot of people were saying that he is the best pg we ever had despite him not even playing a game. We all know what Baron can do when he's motivated. Alot of clippers fans really hoped that he would come in and become a leader. Somewhere along the line it's just not working out. I've always been a big BD supporter. This guy is not playing with any heart at all this season and its sad to see. He's averaging career lows in ing fg%, and points. I seriously think coming home to LA has created alot distractions for him. Gilbert Arenas said the same thing when he was supposed to sign a contract with us. Too many distractions playing in your home town.
With that said, do I want to get rid of Baron? It depends. I seriously think a coaching change can do wonders. This team has alot of talented young pieces and Eric Gordon and Baron Davis in the back court is a really nice core to build around. Baron and Zach are in their prime years. We can win with this team with the right system. I understand that Run and gun teams don't win championships unless your the showtime lakers. However, run n gun teams win ball games. The clippers have never conistently won ball games year in and year out. Clipper nation is desperate right now. Desperate for wins and respectability. We are not even a mediocore team. We are well below that level. |

I agree elton sucks 42. there actually are some changes that can be made that will turn baron's game around. The problem is, most of these changes wont happen during this season, which means baron might not get any better this year.
I still have a really hard time believing baron is healthy too. when i thought of baron davis before we signed the guy, my favorite image of him was that monster dunk on kirilinko in the playoffs 2 years ago. has baron even had 1 dunk this year? i can remember a crappy dunk that he barely put down, but thats about it. |

Dont think Baron is 100% too. He might say he is but you can tell the way he plays and his movements arent the same last year and the year before that. He still can be the productive pg we all know he can be. He showed "some" kind of emotion with that 3pt'er against NY. That had me jumping up and down at home. So hopefully when EVERYBODY is healthy and we have our full roster (like alot of teams in the league) then we can finally start to grade our Clipps and determine if we have the right pieces. On paper and just off their rep, we do have the right players. So lets hope these guys finish with their heads high and gets some quality W's to end the season on a good note. So we could head into the summer with some great intentions and some direction on where this team is headed.. |

| I think a lot said here is right and a good opinion, but the main thing I disagree with is some people saying that in time Baron will pick up and get used to our team. Dunleavy and Baron diminuish each other, and even if the current situation improves we will nver reach the heights we should with the roster we've got. Yes, BD is a great PG, but he will always clash with MD and thus before we get better, one must leave. If Baron stays, I think moving MD to GM and getting a full time head coach in that would work better with Baron is our best option. zepsecially now the trade deadline has passed. Possible options I have no idea about however. Avery Johnson is out of a job but i wouldn't feel comfortable with him coaching the clips. |

I agree. I think there will be a stretch next year when Baron puts up great numbers, and the next day he will be traded. Dunleavy will be actively trading Baron the moment his stock is high, they can't succeed together in my opinion. |

| Kind of an old topic, but now that apparently Ron Artest is going to the Lakers, Rockets have to be desperate. I wonder if they would consider Kaman and Baron for T-Mac. I know T-Mac is old and Kaman/Baron have some loyalty on this forum, but seriously guys, next year if we had 43 MILLION in cap space, we could sign 2 all-stars and then we could really start talking about championships for this franchise. If we had Gordon, Thornton, DeAndre and Griffin to work with, it's not all that far fetched for the LeBron's or the Wade's out there to want to play for the Clips. |

| ^^ I wouldn't do it. We would have the cap but not a guarantee that any of those guys would sign with us. The way i see it, Lebron is staying put the way the Cavs have been bending backwards for him. Bosh might be traded before the deadline. The only guy that i would even consider would be Wade, but even then, he would replace Gordon. Don't want that. |

| BD is an As*h***. We saw flashes of alley oop after alley oop Admittedly he was hurt but what would Kobe done. He would been a leader even if he were dying and still kicked names and taked a**. Have you seen the Dog Whisperer? Who is the pack leader? Nellie benched him. A good dose of humiliation will motivate or break him but Dunceleavy needs the boot. He will never work. but he's stuck to us like a butt rash. I would give Clipper joe's right nu* for Larry Brown |

Not sure about that, toohip.
If I recall correctly, Kobe's first few years as alpha dog was a disaster. Rudy T gave the team free reign and they found out that Kobe couldn't singlehandedly outscore teams nightly. He ended up going down with a severe ankle sprain and the Lakers finished behind the Clippers (though they were both out of the playoffs).
The next year, with Jackson back at the helm (not to mention Fisher), they made it back to the playoffs but were blown out in game 7 against the Suns, once again finishing behind the Clippers. How did their fearless leader react?
By demanding a trade, threatening he'd rather play on Pluto than come back to his team. He then calls out GM Kupcheck for not trading Bynum for Jason Kidd.

I'm not trying to defend Baron for quitting on the team last year. It was a frustrating thing to witness. But I just can't bring myself to believe that Kobe is really that much better when the chips are down.
Baron was ass last year. He has vowed that things will improve this year. I'm willing to let him prove it. |

| I really didn't want to read this but could'nt help. This would be the worst move of the off season. WHO will be PG if BD leaves. T-mac WILL be out this WHOLE season. Doesn't make sense like I said and CJ earlier we need to FORGET 2010 there's NO GUARANTEE any superstar will sign with us. Theres no FA that I would rather have over The Baron. |

Trading Kaman right now for anything less than another big man is pointless and would hurt our team.
We should trade Kaman to Toronto and Minny's pick for Bosh IMO if he signs a contract extension. |

Bosh will not resign an extension with the Raptors.
Trade Kaman for a better coach and a bag of doritos. |

| Now way we trade anyone for T-Mac. He is damaged goods. He had the dreaded microfracture surgery. Amare is one of the few players that ive heard that has actually had a decent comeback from the surgery. Many other came back much worse. I would not go anywhere near that deal unless we needed to clear cap space, which we dont. Bad idea all the way. IMO |

It works. We get a PG and a classy SF and get rid of a player that doesn't fit in MDSR's system.
PS I wanted to post the trade machine link but was denied.
hate to break it to you, but alston hasn't been on the rockets for awhile now. he was the starting pg for the eastern conf champs magic and got traded to nj as part of the vinsanity deal. "get some facts and come back and see me" haha no big deal though just lettin you know so you dont make the same mistake again.. |

Correction, fish was not on those teams you are referring to. And I have to agree with toohip, even with a terrible cast comparable to our team 19-win team last year, Kobe never let his team below 34 wins. But let's give Baron some slack, forgive and forget, and look forward to next year. We're on the rise, so like Blake let's forget about the past. |

LOL. I guess I forgot Poland.
Okay, what I meant to say was that Kobe's leadership proved woefully insufficient until Fisher and Gasol joined the Lakers.
And I'm still not convinced that Kobe could lead his team to 34+ wins in any season were his team to say suddenly lose their leading rebounders/scorers/playmakers for prolonged periods of time. Take out Gasol and Odom and Fisher for much of the season and the Lakers are not playoffbound. |

I totally agree that would be putting all the chips up. I can see if we were a team that everyone wants to play for but we're not this is a real gamble. Like I said if we trade Baron for a SF who will run the point. Sometimes you guys make no sense at all. |
