I'm not trying to be the guy who can't get excited about a win like last night. Trust me, I was up till 1:10 on the east coast watching this one, and what a great victory. There were just a couple points I wanted to make.

After Boom Dizzle fouled out of the game did anyone else notice his demeanor on the bench. I was really impressed to see him on his feet trying to be the leader from the bench. I think there were two times during that sequence where once Dunleavy and then an assistant tried to get BD to sit. Now I'm all for letting the coaches do their thing, but to me this is the essense of the problem with the Clippers. MD brought in a floor leader and refuses to let him lead in any regards. I felt very frustated watching the sideline interaction, and at one point I thought BD might just grab MD and physically put him on the bench.

My second concern arrises most likely from the fact that I wasn't on the board last night to see if anyone raised the same issues. In the fourth quarter last night, on four consecutive possessions, our play call consisted of one guy going one-on-one with his man. Now dont' get me wrong, that's part of the NBA game, but of the five guys on the floor, why the HELL was it Mardy Collins all four times. I almost had a heart attack when he pulled up for a 3 off the dribble with about 12 seconds left on the shot clock. The towards the end of the game with BD out, we looked pathetic, and if not for the talent of Camby and Randolph, we might have chalked that up to another disappointing loss due to MD. Just frustrating to think that our head coach made those calls last night.

But not to harp, sorry for bringing everyone down after a good effort by all. I'll leave you with my two other thoughts, both on the positive end. 1) Fred Jones has been quite a pleasant suprise for us, and really was key in last nights win. 2) Not sure if anyone else sees it, but there looks to be some passion in the eyes of BD, and he's playing like a man finally, which has translated into the "glue" that this team needs.

mardy collins was destroying pierce off the dribble on every play. he would drive and get in the paint everytime for a bucket. mardy is a big surprise and fits in well. i hope we keep him for next season

not sure I agree with you there dchou1107. Collins was 2 of 6 in the fourth quarter, and with the squad on the floor, I'm not sure why he would be the one we were going to. He did get by Peirce once on the dribble but still was forced to go to a running hook shot (that did go in). Collins and Jones were both on the floor to lock up Peirce, and both did a great job switching on the pick and rolls and really putting pressure on Peirce, who we all know thrives in the 4th. I'm just questioning the coaches decision to put the ball in the hands of a guy who's a career 38% FG shooter and telling him to go to work.

Baron was into the game on the bench throughout. I was sitting right by the bench. Every time Baron came out his right shoe and sock came off. His big toe was heavily bandaged. All around a great game.

I also got to holler at Cassell real quick. I asked him when he was taking over for Dunleavy and he said that this is where he wants to be.

someone had to make up for EJ and Thornton out so Collins was just trying to step up... I am glad he was stepping up somewhat instead of the opposite

What you saw last night when baron was asked to move away was right. Baron was going to go over to Dun and tell him to take the ball out in our side of the court. They held him back. Baron looked pissed but that was the right decision. Dun didn't want to call the last time out to advance the ball. Had we had problems getting the ball in, we would not have a second chance to inbounds. It ended up working. It's one thing to try and lead from the bench but it is another to try and make a coach's decision.

I applaud baron for coin what he did. Let dumbleavy know ur into the game and what u think should be done. Right or wrong he actually showed he cared for once

Now onto camby. I heard how upset he was to be taken outta the game on the last posession? It appalls me why he wouldn't be in for rebounding and defensive purposes. When the game was over he was nowhere to be found during the celebration? Did he run into the locker room? We're so fortunate to escape with the W.

I don't quite remember who was on the floor for both teams on the last possession but maybe the Celtics had all their shooters out (thus going small) so Dunleavy wanted his quickest players on each shooter.....again not sure what the rotations where but maybe that was why.

And for all the talk of how fortunate the team was to escape with a win because of Randolph and Jones' heroics... was it a bad decision for Dunleavy to bring these guys aboard?

I was all for Z-Bo coming on board when mostly everyone else wanted to keep Cat cause EJ "wasn't ready" and Timmy cause he was supposedly a "valuable backup". lol

I liked the pickup of Jones since day one as well. I think we have already established that Dumbleavy is a good GM. It's everything else that's worrisome.

Yep, those wore my arguments early on. And I'm delighted that Gordon has proven me wrong. Chalk up one more good move by the GM.

Thats the conensus around clipper nation. Good GM but less than spectacular coach.

I think with Cassell coaching our team and Dunleavy being our GM we would be among the best in the business. Cassell was incredible at motivating and leading our guys in the big playoff run. I say bring him in as coach!
