Steve Francis has been bought out. Now we got to wait seven days while he's put on the waiver wire to see if another team will pick him up...which won't happen because of his huge contract. The wait may be a good thing because the other teams who might be interested (Heat, Lakers, etc) may be looking to sign their free agent in the next day or two. Here's the article:
Trail Blazers buy out Steve Francis' contract

Thanks for the NEWS!!! I think he'll end up here. It just makes sense.

Yeah thanks BB- I think having Mobley on the team gives us an advantage in getting him.

If Mo goes to Miami, and Fish goes to the Lakers, that leaves the Clips in the drivers seat for Francis. A funny thought though is that if the Lakers somehow got Francis, do we then try to sign Derek Fisher? Who would love to stay in LA cause he daughter can get some of the best treatment at the UCLA Medical Center. Fish will sign for the MLE or less. Welcome back Beniot, where ya been?
Interesting thought JamFan: Francis to the Lakers. I thought about this too ... I think the chemistry between Francis and Kobe would be unhealthy (uh, an understatement); their roles not complementary. I almost want to see that, so I can watch the Lakers self-destruct!
Hahah yeah Francis + Kobe would probably be pretty bad chemistry. Looks like they've agreed to a 3 year $16 mil deal with DFish though so we're out of the running for him. I guess it's looking more and more like Francis!
According to Hoopshype.com Francis is expected to sign a two year deal with the Clippers For $1 million the first year and about $5 million next season. If this is true, it appears we will still have a large portion of the MLE to play with if necessary....possibly to bring in a shooter. The more I think about the possibility of Francis becoming a Clipper the more excited I get about it as he can play both guard....
I'm excited too- the 2nd year is an insurance in case Sam leaves or retires. Thanks for the news G-Man. I wonder when it'll become official- I read something about him having to clear waivers, and a week later he could sign? I could be wrong though.
Derek is great for LAL simply because he's been there and knows his place in #8's universe. (not a bad thing). He knows the triangle well. As far as SF yeah it's a gamble but so's life. It's the best odds out there. 1yr at $1m then $5m SALIVATION, maybe Xmas. The only other option seems to be Hart.

They have to allow 7 days for the player to clear waivers. So it'll be just talk until next Wednesday.
I heard that the Rockets were also interested in Francis. But they'd have to make a trade first since they are overloaded at PG already.
I know this sounds superficial but I live in LA. so it's OK Yesterday I saw a kid wearing a #50 jersey!!! You never see that here always pur/gold. I can see people wearing Fancis shirts but not Hart. If Caiman shows up we'll have as well Sam, Stevie, Corey and EB, all who are fan favorites. Who will LAL have? Derek and maybe Kobe. We win we'll rule LA and I can have braggin' rights. Superficial ---yeah....
Well, since the contract buyout that changed point guard Steve Francis into an unrestricted free agent, rumors have been piling on concerning his next destination, and there's no doubt in anyone's mind that a reunion between Francis and the Clippers' Cuttino Mobley is a huge possibility. After a couple of disappointin' seasons from Francis, teamin' back up with his ex-Rocket teammate could rejuvenate his career, give veteran Sam room to breathe, and shuffle a new deck of cards for the....
Hahah yeah that's a good point TGM- I guess Kaman could be our Olajuwan?
