The Clippers will try to get off to a good start tonight against the TWolves on the road- to not have to play catchup the whole game would be huge. I suspect Dunleavy will use Tim Thomas to guard Garnett- hey maybe Singleton will see some minutes too to try and slow down KG.

This was the worst game of them all...the Clippers were playing like the Clippers of old until that last quarter. Elton was being aggressive, Cassell was hitting his shots, they were defending - then it all stopped. They stopped running their offense, settling for quick shots and one on one plays. They stopped playing defense, with way too many guys (namely Cassell and Thomas) getting lost. This game was just like a reversal of all the others. Usually, they start out slow and finish better. This time they started fast and finished terrible.

I thought we were going to get a look at more of the bench tonight but I think "Dumb"-leavy was just teasing us. Ewing and Davis played a big 3 minutes each and Singleton didn't get up. Don't you think that playing Brand, who has already admitted being drained from the summer, 40 minutes a night is wearing him out even more. He's got nothing left in the fourth quarter. Same with Cassell...but I guess when Livingston can only give 11 unproductive minutes, not much can be done. These guys are not fresh for the fourth quarter because "Dumb"-leavy is not giving them sufficient rest during the game.

I don't know but this is getting real old...and we're only 11 games into the season. 6-5 is NOT going to cut it. If things don't get better quick, then something drastic needs to be done, whether it be a trade or a new coach. The Western Conference is too tough this year to be giving games away...the Clippers have too much talent to be playing like this.

One-on-one basketball can only carry you so far. Cassell pretty much carried the team with his shooting but once he started missing, and Brand starting missing, Maggette started to turn it over, it was game-set-match. BB- you make a great point about the guys running out of gas in the 4th- that may well be what happened. Minnesota got all the loose balls, they grabbed all the rebounds, and on D the Clippers kept allowing dribble penetration for easy-dish-dunks or fouls- probably because of fatigue they couldn't move their feet quick enough. Randy Foye killed the Clippers with his dribble penetration (courtesy of his fresh legs).

The free throw shooting was just horrible. 16-25 again- ouch. Brand really needs to get his foul shooting back in order. Thomas was just way off, and Livingston bricked both of his. Shaun played only 10 minutes and looked pretty bad out there. You might start to see Ewing play more now.

The Clipper offense is just awful right now- I don't see much of a "system". It's more a 1-on-1 or 2-man game most of the time. They throw the ball to the wing player and/or into the post and relies on the recipients to make 1-on-1 moves while the other guys watch. If the post/wing guy can't do it then they'll try to kick it back out. Everything seems to be stuck on one side of the floor and eventually the defense is going to get wise to it, and the T'Wolves did. There's no cutting, no ball rotation, nothing- it's just so predictable!

On a positive note it was great to see Aaron Williams play and play really well. I thought he did great, and provided a lot of intangibles that Kaman lacks sometimes. Also it was nice to see the guys get off to a great start for a change. Bottom line tough it's all about how you finish, and the Clippers collapsed late on both ends of the floor.

It seems that right now there are only bad news...We aren't playing as a team and we are in a bad streak right now...I feel that everybody isn't in the same page and although at the beginning of the season we got some Ws without playing good basketball in the end thios couple of losses are showing to ourseves the reality about where we are...we must find our chemistry and I'm sure that our game will be back. One question: ¿is everybody sure that Livi is going to be a superstar? As the days are falling I have more doubts...

Benoit is right on. Dumb-leavy has been trying to rely on an 8 man rotation so far this season at a time when Sam and Elton need to be fresh. We have a strong bench, but coach refuses to use them. As the season wears on, this situation could get worse. Elton did not have the summer off to rest his body. Sam needs rest just because.......well, he's old. And everybody needs a game here and there where their minutes are reduced, especially on back to backs. Dumb-leavy isn't always able to see the forest for the trees. He coaches in a vacuum. He sees things with tunnel vision. He needs to take his blinkers off and see the possibilities and options he has available to him and use all his tools and weapons. Ewing plays well and hard when he is in. James Singleton plays like he is ready to explode and jump right out of the gym. But the only thing these guys see is the pine.

Well if the huge loss to Denver tonight doesn't wake up Dunleavy, what will?? I still believe Tim Thomas was a mistake. I could be wrong. But Singleton needs to play!!! They need to find some motivation and it all starts with coming together despite the bad play, get pissed off and decide to do something about it. That's how underdog teams win...with their hunger.

I think guys just need to start playing team ball. The effort is there, but the shots are not falling and more disturbingly some players take it into their own hands too much. Also Livingston really needs to hit that outside shot and make the defenders pay. He still doesn't have confidence in his outside game, and a lot of time insists on driving the ball too deep when he can stop and pop from 12-15 w/ his quickness. That's really hurting the Clippers when the opposing guard can sag off of him like that. Also I'm puzzled as to why he's not posting up small guards more- he was really effective last season doing that- he'll either find the open teammate or make the shot over the shorter defender.

You guys need to keep your hopes up. I've been a Clipper fan for eight years now and I've seen the Clippers through way worst slumps than this (even when they were predicted to do well). Just keep your head held high because we're way early in the reason. We have a great core of players (not just talent wise but in their mentality and as role models) and for them losing stings. If anything the Clippers need more support now than at any other time (and that includes when they're winning).

Anyways, several things to look forward to.

1) The Clippers are shooting horrible right now (and really ever since the beginning of the season). Sometimes you have those bad shooting night(s). Eventually, all shooters return to their norms. Thomas, Livingston, Kamen should rebound. A team can't shoot .333 for the season. Period.

2) Kamen was playing well with the Clippers right before he got injured. Seattle-Lakers stats anyone? Kamen will be back, away from the shoulder injury and a much better player

3) We have a good bench and hopefully Dunlevy will use it more. That means benching Elton (he's had a long summer) and Cassell (age). Even if the Clippers lose games because of it, I think in the end they'll be a better team because of the experience gained by players like Singleton and Livingston. Livingston is capable of so much more so hopefully he does it.

Yeah I agree- it's not the end of the world yet but they really need to get a team meeting going or something to get things straightened out. Eventually the shots will fall, but they must play better as a team. I think Sam Cassell had some great quotes from today's LA times article. Sounds like he's really going to try and pump the guys up. I especially agree with his last quote- here's what he said:

"It's not about Xs and O's, it's not about strategy, it's about us playing harder," said Cassell, who aggravated an ankle sprain in the Clippers' 103-88 loss to the Denver Nuggets on Sunday.

"When we don't play hard at the beginning, we don't have a chance to win, it's that simple. Our effort has been there at moments, but we're an all-out ballclub.

"We've got to play hard for the whole 48 minutes. We're getting beat on the hustle things, not the execution things, but we understand that as a team."

The Clippers are 0-5 on the road and 0-2 on a three-game, five-day trip that ends Tuesday against the Sacramento Kings.

Last season, the Clippers set a franchise record with 20 road victories, finishing 20-21. The 1974-75 Buffalo Braves had 19 road victories.

"Our effort just hasn't been there, and that starts with me," Cassell said. "That starts with me getting the guys ready. I've been mellow with the guys, but it's time for me to put my foot down, and that starts with myself.

"We just all have to play all-out hard offensively, defensively … everything. And if we're going to spoon-feed a guy, if we're going to go to you on isolations, you have to deliver for us. That goes for all of us. It's that simple."
