I am pissed by the whole Francis to Houston deal that I'm making up a new rumor just for fun...

"Kobe has been found wearing a Clippers jersey around the L.A. area."

Posturing by Kobe you'd have to think Smile. It's probably more important in two years when he could opt out....

Yeah, I like it. Kobe pressures the Lakers to trade him to the Clippers for Maggette, Mobley, and Livingston. Film at 11. Also new reports coming in have Kobe going for sleep overs at Sam's house. Our new starting lineup is:

Kaman, Brand, Thorton, Kobe, and Sam.

Rumor Control will take place at Clippers TopBuzz, of course.

I disagree. We're close. One player upgrade away from a deep playoff run. Where's the deal out there?

How are we 1 player away? We lost 3 PG's already are best young talent!!!! And Cassell is 38!!! Where's our bench!!! Have you seen how everybody else in the West has improved. In the playoffs for sure are Spurs, Suns, Dallas. Most likely: Houston has Aaron Brooks and more importantly Luis Scola. Denver has a AI, Anthony, Camby, a slimmed down Nene and are getting K-Mart back. Utah made it to the Western conference finals and Millsap killed the summer league. Golden State got a Belinelli a shooter is a perfect fit for the run and gun, Brandan Wright, not to mention a $10 million dollar trade exception. That's 7 solid teams. We have no significant upgrade beside Thornton, and have signed nobody of significance, have aged and Livingston is gone. The teams we have to compete with are the Grizzlies, Hornets and Sacto. It will be a dogfight for us to make the 8th spot.

TD, I love the optimism, but if Brand leaves us with no compensation, we are dead in the water.

All you see is what's on paper...Different stuff happens than what is on paper. Chemistry is KEY this year. They finally get that right and great things will happen...THE TALENT IS THERE...if you think we need every hole filled with an all-star or new phenom...you're lost.

Sorry to sound so cynical, but what chemistry? Chemistry between whom. How is chemistry going to magically give us a PG and added bench depth. Maybe it's me, maybe it's the fact that I'm starting to realize that Livingston may never play for this team again. Maybe it's the fact that Cassell is 38, maybe it's all these things that does not enable me to see how chemistry overcomes regression and a stacked Western Conference.

Most of the top teams have 2-3 superstars. Example: Suns: Nash, Amare, Marion Spurs: Duncan, Manu, Parker, Dallas: Terry, Nowitski, Howard, Utah: Boozer, Deron Williams, Okur/Kirilenko Denver: A.I., Anthony, Nene/Camby Houston: McGrady, Yao, Luis Scola/Francis G.S.: Baron Davis, and pack of bashees. Granted the 8th spot looks attainable, but the Hornets with Paul, Grizzlies with Pau and now Darko and Conley, Sacto with Bibby, Artest, Kevin Martin, and now Hawes are all no teams that we can pushover. We have to get into a halfcourt strategy with all these teams becasue they all have some young PG's who are going to push the rock.

Only one of those teams has won it all - Spurs (and they do it through teamwork...they have 3 stars...but the rest of their team - Robert Horry, Jacque Vaughn, Bruce Bowen just to name a few arent that great of players) they do their jobs, they know their roles and they have chemistry with the stars. We have 2 stars - Brand, Maggette...but the media doesnt care. Baron Davis, Jason Terry, Carmelo Anthony, Nene, Steve Francis and AK-47 are not as good as they SEEM to be. They get hyped up in the media...The Clippers dont get much hype cuz we're not media favorites. The Spurs have the only 3 stars that ACTUALLY LIVE UP TO THEIR STAR STATUS. It ISNT ABOUT HAVING STARS....ITS ABOUT CHEMISTRY AND TEAMWORK....THATS HOW THE SPURS SWEPT THE CAVS and it's how they've been winning championships quietly the last several years. I agree the Suns gots screwed by officiating against the Spurs but if they were really the better team, they would have beat them anyways.

You gotta see what this team can do first...wait till next year when there are STAR free agents galore to choose from. I'm sure they all arent gonna ignore us. Rome wasnt built in a day...why do you people expect to have a championship right away and want to scamper around and try and find superstars to make our team LOOK GOOD on PAPER?? The Pistons won without superstars (granted they are now...but they werent back when they beat the star studded Lakers in the finals just a few years back).

Also...Dunleavy said we are gonna sign a Guard. So hold tight. We'll have a backup to Cassell. The rest of the positions are good for now.

Here's a simple investing tip that can be used to describe the Clippers situation: if you diversify, you may play it safe, make some money...but you'll never win big. If you want to win big, you gotta put ALL YOUR EGGS IN ONE BASKET. I know its not what "financial advisors" will tell you...but they dont have it all. What I'm saying is I hope the Clippers treat this as DO or DIE and go balls to the wall with all their eggs in one basket. So what if it dont work out...you gonna quit being a Clippers fan cuz they failed again?? But I tell you what....they'll never get to a championship by wheeling and dealing away what they've built on. They know what they're doing...if you think you can do better, become a GM and prove me wrong!!!

ClipperPains is right. So far what Clipper management has done to rebuild this team is disgraceful. What they have done is exactly........nothing. Every team participated in the draft and added players, so the fact we drafted a rookie means nothing because so did everybody else. No trades, no signings. We are actually weaker than we were last season with the players that we released. And this is a team that finished out of the playoffs. Shame.

JamFan, thanks for having my back. We've done diddly squat! I say we blow the team up, exactly like Seattle did. Except we don't wait too late. What I mean by that, is that Seattle could've traded away Rashard Lewis for more than a conditional 2nd round pick. If they traded him during the season, they could've gotten some draft picks out of it. They messed up this situation, but did great picking up KD,etc...(don't want to get into that as jealousy is starting to pop up.
