I think Corey Maggette is an awesome offensive player. I think this guy could average 25 points a game if he was the center focus of a team and I think that is what Maggette wants; he wants to have his own team. With Dunlevy as coach, that isn't going to happen. And I am confused on Dunlevy not liking his defensive ability. I remember when Alvin Gentry was coach, Corey was the defensive stopper. Also, if he does well next year, he is going to ask for a contract like Rashard Lewis for 85 million which is insanity. Think, Gerald Wallace got 57 million for being a decent small forward. Maggette is way better. Do the clippers want to spend all that money when they have possible a good small forward back up in Thorton and Korelev which they won't have to pay. However, I still probably would sign him because I don't know who to replace him with. I'd offer him 65million extension to resign this summer. If he turns it down, trade him. He will be a Laker next year, or with Miami Heat if he refuses to sign or a Chicago Bull, or on a no name team with a Gigantic contract.

I don't agree on Maggette being an "awesome" scorer...He's a good player and a scorer but I don't see Gette at the same level of scorers like Iverson, Kobe, Pierce, Arenas...He isn't a supertalented player. As everybody know his main source of getting points is the free throw line...He always tries to go inside and get fouls. This is mainly his game..He isn't a shooter and I really don't see gette scoring 25 point nowhere...He has never been in an allstar game and I doubt if he will ever get it...I see Gette as a onedimension player...Anyways i think he can help us and I would retain him next summer although I think he doesn't deserve the same money that Rashard Lewis has got this summer....I hope smeyelle don't get angry with me but this is my opinion. GO GETTE, FOR SURE!!!

I tend to agree with Miquel here, though I think he's more than one-dimensional. Corey CAN shoot, but he can be inconsistent, so yeah we can't really classify him as a shooter. But he'll make the other team pay for leaving him open. I really like the improvement in his game late last season where he often drove and and made good passes to open guys, so now he's a pretty solid play-maker also. And yup his ability to get to the line is uncanny and invaluable (points + get other team in foul trouble). I think it's a good possibility for the Clippers to re-sign him at $8 to $10 mil/year. The one big knock on him is his ability to stay healthy, however, so that aspect would lower his value somewhat.

I think Corey has maturity problems. There are a lot of things he can do if he stops being Mr Dud Studley. Who else on the team can handle the ball?. If Caiman and #50 show up, the opponents don't have enough players to double or triple team. Corey with a consistant jumper in the picknroll what do they do with him? The jumper, to the rack, pass to CK and a jumper.I've always said that #50 could be a candidate for all star consideration. Francis, you're an idiot.

the Clippers will most likely not pay top dollars for Maggette to come back.. he is a good player.. but not a great player or "awesome scorer" as you put it.. he can put some good numbers, but not all the time.. he has the potential of being a great player.. but he is not a leader like Elton Brand or Cassell. no matter what team he goes to.. he will most likely be the second or third go to guy on the team unless he ends up on a team filled with young players, which he probably wont want. this coming season will have to be his year if he wants the big bucks, and depending on how well Thornton does his rookie season will also determine if they want to try to get Maggette to stay. i honestly think Maggette wont really want to stay as a Clipper, especially as you said how he wants to be the center of the team.. because with Brand.. Maggette will always be the second guy. we'll see how it goes this season, hopefully he'll stay.. i would hate to lose him.

Maggette will never be the center of a team in any NBA team...I think he is enough intelligent to realize himself

I would go ahead and agree for the most part that the Clippers will not pay too much for him to come back...but then again, Baylor and Sterling really like the guy. If you're thinking about re-signing him...you gotta look at three things - 1) how he plays this season and is it consistent enough to want to keep him in our lineup for another 5 years....2) How much Thornton advances towards his potential...and 3) Is he gonna stay healthy enough throughout his career (players with injury problems tend to get their bodies broken down eventually)....that didnt stop Grant Hill, but financially did it hurt the Orlando Magic - I think so....So you gotta weight these options with how much he'd be asking and how much he wants to be a Clipper. If we somehow win the NBA championship this year, that would really perplex me on what to do with him.

Elton is the kind of player you would do anything to keep...Corey is a potential All-Star...but if he cant live up to a new deal, dont even bother when you got Corey #2 (sorta) in Al Thornton.

If maggette wants to leave then I think we should trade him to get a good point guard. Someone like mike bibby cause i heard that he wanted to leave the kings. But i dont know i really like maggette he has the best body for his position. im getting worried i hope clips dont fall apart

Big Bucks? Corey is having delusions of adequacy. Unless he makes a quantum leap he's expendable. If he does, maybe. Corey has a unique talent and he wouldn't fit with a lot of teams. I don't think the Kings really wanted him as much as they wanted to get rid of Mr Psycho. What elite team would want him for but bucks and if so who would start him? Right now he' a POOR MAN's Ginobli. Phx, Dallas, Spurs, Lakers,Denver, Rockets, Pistons, Bulls no. Heat ? He'a star here not a GREAT player. If we could get Bibby, I'd throw in Jlemm to sweeten the deal Smile
