Here's a snippet: Q: What gets you more excited, the opening night of one of your movies or the opening game of the NBA season? A: For sure, it's the opening game of the NBA season. Even when I was on location with the movie shooting in Thailand, I had a team trainer, Johan Wang, working with me…. It's funny that some people thought I shot the movie last year, which they pointed to as a reason why I struggled at times last season. But that's not true. I shot the movie two summers ago and then came back and had my....

I think it's a little scary when he said that "I am concerned about the direction of the team and how we're going to play this out". But overall he sounds optimistic and determined to help lead the team to a better showing this upcoming season.

Yea it is scary...VERY! It's the fact that he's making a point that if the Clippers doesnt produce any wins this season the way he has expected since he joined the team, that he would have no other choice than to sign with a winning team. Brand even stated: "No one ever promised me that I would get rings here. They only promised to get the best product they could. It's hard to win it all. There are plenty of teams that never won."...meaning that yes they could win games but not produce a championship caliber team that he's expected to since he joined. I believe that once Brand doesnt end up as a Clipper after next season....it's all over for the Clippers. Name one player that would wanna sign with the clippers that is a big time player after next season??? NO ONE! You know why? It's because the organization is too blind to understand that to be like the past championship teams, you have to make sacrifices and take that extra step to be on top! I am especially disappointed with Sterling because he has never tried to get this team be a championship team because of the real fact that he's CHEAP! He doesnt wanna spend money on good quality players and would rather pick up "used" players that have lost interest in winning. I'd wanna be the first to say that the Clippers have ended up being as a team that others would want to join not to play, but to end up getting big time $$$ and just end up retiring in the end. It's also obvious that Elgin Baylor is not a GM...he cannot put together A team at all...he has only been lucky by acquiring Elton Brand, Corey Maggette, Shaun Livingston & Sam Cassell. And the only big time move that he tried to do was trying to acquire Kobe a few years back....but do you really think that Kobe could have helped this team win a championship seeing that he couldnt even win one now with the Lakers??? Thats it!!! Nobody else...I'd also like to blame Dunleavy because he's too passive of a coach. He always uses the same set up and never mixes it up, that is why the Clippers offense now is too easy to recognize. Come on Clippers...please!!! I'd like to be able to see the Clippers win A CHAMPIONSHIP someday....and not wait 'til im 100yrsold.

Elton Brand saying that was a no-brainer...you know he's been thinking it for a long time. This is a part of a post I made back on January 9, 2007 after the Clippers decided not to trade Maggette and Livingston for Allen Iverson...anyone want a do-over on that one???

This is way last season was such a setback. Instead of building on the prior year, the team didn't even make the playoffs. How do you think that sat with Brand? And there have been no moves made this off-season. So as of right now, we're worse off than we were last year. Cassell is a year older, Livingston is out, and pretty much every other team in the Western Conference has improved. Brevin Knight will probably get signed, which will be a decent pick-up but he's so injury prone. He hasn't played in at least 70 games since the 2003-2004 season. Hopefully, the team can prove me wrong...but after last season, they have ALOT to prove.

"I'm not going to be like Gilbert Arenas and say that I'm definitely going to opt out. But of course, I am concerned about the direction of the team and how we're going to play this out. I definitely want to win some ballgames and we have enough talent to win now.

But really, I'm not looking at it in any way other than to let this play its course. There's no time frame. I just turned 28, and I feel that I have time to get my rings. There's no pressure or stress on me. No one ever promised me that I would get rings here. They only promised to get the best product they could. It's hard to win it all. There are plenty of teams that never won."

I am glad I am not the only one who is scared! We have to face the inevitable, Brand is going to leave at the end of the season! So we might as well trade him and get something from him in return. Of all the youngs out there, I really like Monta Ellis and have been proposing a trade with the Warriors. The Wolves are asking for all kinds of players from the Warriors. I just want at least Ellis, and all they're picks next draft. Tank this season and then draft a stud PG like Mayo, Rose, or Gordon next season. Let's face it, when Livingston went down so did the rest of the franchise because we didn't realize how it would impact everybody else's attitude about playing in Cliptown.

First of all welcome to the site ClipperPains! You had posted this same post in two other threads so I had to delete the dupes.

I'm not so sure about that he's going to leave. I think he was just saying that he's taking a wait-and-see approach. One thing's for sure though if the Clippers tank this season he's definitely opting out.

Also I don't think Livingston going down affected other people's willingness to play for the team. I mean why would that affect them? Unless they're point guards then they would have an even more of an extra incentive to come play here. In fact the new workout/office facility at Playa Del Ray should make the franchise even more attractive for other players.

Thanks for the welcome. Sorry about the dupes, but the Brand interview just confirmed my fears.

What's there to wait and see? We lost 3 PG's so far, it's good thing we still have one. Now we have to sign Knight or Boykins out of necessity. But these guys do not need to be signed long term.

I think Livingston would have been a MAJOR REASON, as to why people would want to play here. Because he is a pass first point guard. Example: Everyone wants to play with Steve Nash! He's the reason why Tim Thomas looked so good and we signed him for too much money. The fact is, an unselfish PG not only gets people involved on the court, but makes you $$$.

Unfortunately we have to trade Brand before he leaves and we receive nothing. Times are bleak...

I Agree, Tim Thomas did look pretty good with Nash getting him the ball at the 3-point line. But good thing is...Jared Jordan can do what Nash does (passing wise) or is a year away. The guy stands in defiance of modern basketball (speed, jumping)...and gets the job done. Nash is the same way. I'll take Jared Jordan on my team any day!!!

More crazy optimism, I like Jared Jordan don't get me wrong, but I doubt he is the second coming of Nash. Nash is not given enough credit as an athlete, he's quick!!! I don't think Jared is the same type of athlete or shooter, nor does he have better handles than Nash. What to do... what to do...

It'll take time for Jared but I think he's going to be pretty good as he keeps improving. I mean Steve Nash did virtually nothing until his 3rd year in the NBA.

True, but JJ needs to do something now to sway Brand to stay. So it means nothing if he's going to develop in a few years if Brand is gone.
