What the hell are we doing to improve the team?? Nothing!!

Stevie Franchise would've been nice, b/c he still got game, just didn't like his situations....We should pursue Earl Boykins instead of Brevin Knight, who is a miniature and less talented version of Livingston...

I really hope he gets off his ass and starts shopping Corey for something in return...re-spark the Artest and Kirilenko trades!! package a future 1st rounder, I don't care...we've been drafting early in the 1st round for years...korolev?? HOLY SMOKES!! let the other teams draft, lez win get some proven talent and win!!

Artest/Kirilenko are risks you say?? I'd rather roll that dice than getting another korolev in future drafts!!

C Diddy, your comments on this new thread echo what I have just said in other current threads. And from looking at the early voting in our new poll on how many wins we should expect next season, pessimism reigns among TOPBUZZ fans. If the Clippers make no moves, they can expect ticket sales to be dismal. Pessimistic fans do not buy tickets. Watching your team lose most nights at $100 a pop is no fun. Especially after you know that Management made no effort to improve the roster.

It has been awfully quiet lately. If they were truly working on a B. Knight deal, it would be done by now. He's not a guy that would take a week to sign! So something else is going on.

LAC has always been kept deals very close to the vest until the last minute (the Cassell and Tim Thomas deals were not known until after the fact). So the lack of any news on Knight may mean they are working on something else.

So either something interesting is going on, or absolutely nothing (hows that for informative). Knight/Boykins may be a fallback if a bigger deal falls through.

I agree that the front office has been very inactive this season or rather unsuccessful (they did try to land Stev F.). I have an ideal that migt seem out of left field but here is a trade ideal. The rumor is that Jazz want to unload AK 47. I know that some clipper fans might have a heart attack with this suggestion, you move CM and Tim Thomas for AK 47 and Milsap plus a second round.

With a back court of EB, AK 47 and the Kaveman the clippers could be the best defensive back court leading the league in block shots, steals, rebounds, and lowest opp shot %. The reality is that CM dose not seem happy with the Coach or his playing time and he can opt out at the end of the year. with AK 47 you get two extra years and could possible help Karlov grow into the player that the organization believed he can be.

So go ahead let me hear the insults.

"Wait to this year" Lets go Clippers

First of all welcome to Topbuzz ClipperBBallFan!

And to the "we're-doomed" members- I would say relax, relax! What's the deal here? The front office has be patient and prudent- you can't be making trades just for the sake of making trades. And I have a strong belief that the team as of now well do better than last season. Keep in mind that last season was one filled with injuries and lack of player improvement. And if the team could do better than last year, that would be more than 40 games. I would venture to say 45 to 48 games. All this negativity is really a show of a lack of respect and confidence for the current players. I mean we have Elton Brand, Sam Cassell, Corey Maggette, Cat Mobley, Q Ross, Chris Kaman, and Tim Thomas- are you kidding me? That's a great first 7! And that's not including Al Thornton and another ball-handling guard the team will certainly be bringing in.

This is consistent with my comments. I believe the Clips are 1 player-upgrade away from a deep playoff run. I don't think the current roster will get past round 2. Someone will get injured. That all it takes. I like several trade scenarios that move Maggette, Thomas, and / or Mobley and bring in an allstar or near allstar caliber player. Brand needs 1 other threat on the floor to open up the whole game. Some options from teams looking for 3/4 spot upgrades / salary cap room:

Bigs - Ak47, Jermaine O'Neal, Tyson Chandler, Eddy Curry

Guards - Jason Terry / Devon Harris, Jasikevicius, Jameer Nelson

Jasikevicius can be had, I don't think he even plays, but I remember him lighting up team U.S.A. a few years back. Don't know why he's not playing, but crazed shooters can always help out.

Well Dave, we had those 7 players last year and finished as a lottery team again. Meanwhile all the teams around us have improved immensely. So, we have actually moved backwards. My prediction, last place or next to last in our division and a lottery team again. Exactly, who are we better than in our division? I guess we could finish ahead of Sacramento. We all need to look at the final standings in the Western Conference, acknowledge what all the teams that finished ahead of us has done to improve themselves, and try to imagine without making any moves, how we are going to move up. I guess we can all sit around and hope for a miracle. Might as well, that is what Elgin is doing.

Phoenix pretty much gave away Kurt Thomas...for what seems to be your definition of improvement, the Suns should actually be going downhill.

I beg to differ. We will be better than the Lakers. What have they done to upgrade? Fisher? ...Please. With the Kobe turmoil and comments he made of his teammates and front office , that team will succum to falling apart.

Now, I agree that last year was not a great year but with injuries ( Kaman, Cassell, and Livingston) playing a good part in last years season, one can only wonder what might have been. I also blame Dunleavy for starting Livingston over Cassell early in the season. Livingston was not ready for "primetime" although he wasn't that far away. This could have made a difference (playoffs) in a few games.

I do believe that this year will be different. Dunleavy and Maggette are now on the same page which will ease the tension in the locker room. Kaman made a commitment to better himself in the off-season. Cassell has reign in the starting position so my guess is I won't be sitting around for a miracle to happen.

As it stands right now, we will be the second seed in the west behind only the Suns.

The point guard situation will work itself out...give it some time.

Well, at least the Lakers signed somebody. We have signed.........er.......uh.........nobody. We only release players when we have nobody to take their place.

man, i like this forum stuff...great for venting with fellow fans who share the same sentiments.....as for you clowns who think we will be ok next year, please look at the facts....1. every team deals with injuries - i was in fantasy, there were a lot of them....2. the korolev pick up killed us - shoulda picked danny granger, like we wanted....3. lakers did get better with d-fish...i hate the lakers, but would love to have d-fish on our squad, even tho i can't stand him, he would help us...4. brevin knight is a fantasy whiz, but is a down grade from jason hart, and we still haven't signed brevin!! 5. we need to trade corey...he's the only player with value whom won't hurt us too much by losing him....y'all kno it! see my next post, it'll be bout Corey...holla!

I disagree with that trade. Our defense is great. By getting AK we will have 2 players (Elton Brand)with the same defensive skills. Both get their defense coming off the weak end to block shots. What would AK-47 bring to the table other than defense with an occasional dunk! What would we lose in the trade? geting to the line when were in a shooting slump with an almost automatic 2 points. We lose a rabid scorer from all angles when he applies himself. We would loose close to 16 points a game coming off the bench. Mind you, know that Dunleavy has said Maggette will start this season, it could be more points we lose a game. I don't see AK putting up those numbers.

What we need is help in the offense(ball distribution) not defense.

Plus I would not want to see an AK-47 crying because his production is lacking( last season's play-offs).

I totally agree. I like Corey, but the reality is we have 4 solid guys at the 2/3 position (Maggette, Thorton, Q Ross, Mobley). Not enough minutes for them all. Maggette is highly sought and will bring very good value in return. We need an upgrade at either PG or Center position. Also, from a business perspective, the free agency prospect is a real threat to the stability of filling arenas. If they could land a star with a longer term contract next to Brand and the young talent (Thorton, Q. Ross, Livvy), this will also attract next year's free agents. I'm asking - what does it take to make this a perenial 50 win team? Another star? A coach? Let's see a winning plan!

another star will not guarantee a 50 win season

a new coach will not guarantee a 50 win season

The Clippers beating 50 teams is the only thing that will guarantee a 50 win season.

You cannot know what will happen this year...You cant look at a team on paper and know: "they're gonna win this many games".

All the players can do is give their all, and want it more than the other teams. They're gonna have to push themselves to the limit...but we have the talent already on this team to make the playoffs and even do more.

You think Mobley (getting old and lost a step or two)) , Quinten Ross ( only known for defense) or Thorton (not proven- but will be) can help more then Maggette at this moment???? Wow!

Look Maggette is a steal for the clippers and the proof is that last year when Maggette was at the trading block who bit at the chance to trade for him? Only the true Clipper fans know what we got in him. He was hurt for a while then he came off the bench. Prior to getting hurt he averaged over 20 pts. I will admit that he took ill advised shoots but he redeemed himself at the end of last season. He played smart BB. Dunleavy looks like he feels the same way. He will start this coming season.

Do you think that Ross or Mobley will pick up the slack????

Mobley is getting old so I don't think he is the future. Maggette is still young and wants to prove himself. Thorton I believe will play a big part in the clippers future but not this season. So, if we get rid of Maggette how far can we go????

This may be Mobley's last year that he can handle being a starter. If Ross steps up offensively, he could be re-signed as our starting SG...with Mobley coming off the bench. While I was really hoping for a pure shooter in the draft to take the reigns from Cat...I think he can hold it down with Ross, Cassell and Maggette doing backup duty at the 2 guard spot. Next year we need that shooter in the draft. Shooters are always there for the taking in the draft. Until then, it's up to Q and Cat.

Valid points! Quinten Ross had improved his outside shot last season. I must say he stepped up. I was surprised. If I am not mistaken, Cassell's contract is over at the end of this season and I'm sure they will not sign him. Cassell did mention he wants to coach so who knows, he might end up as an assistant coach with us. I say by the end of next year the whole look of the Clippers will change. I do believe that we will need to address getting an outside threat( pure shooter) to ease the dbl team of Brand. But since we brought in Thomas , he needs to fill that capacity for now. I know he hasn't proven himself but there is nothing we can do ( under contract ). He

better step up this year. By the way, Ross was signed not too long ago but not as a point. He is our best defensive player in the back court but cannot handle the ball. He is a catch and shoot #2.

You never know maybe Jared Jordan might surprise everyone this season.

Jlemmen43, How many players will be available to sign in November? You and I will be there, and we will sign for just a few bucks. The top GM's in the country already have their top free agent players signed. Now the second tier players are being signed. And by November, only the 3rd tier players that nobody wants will be available. So, we might as well run with Diaz and Jordan and be excited about our 30 win season.
