Chris Vernon - who broke the Gasol trade to LAL first - and hosts GM Chris Wallace regularly on his show

I don't believe this rumor... If Dunleavy was for it, why would Sterling kill a trade that would save him money? It doesn't make any sense. Remember, this is the Sterling who broke into the locker room and read the team the riot act... Zach Randolph among them.

Both Buckner and Jaric have two years left on their deals for about 11 mil combined. I know we would be losing a 20/10 guy but I woulda pulled the trigger. It would have brought down our salary and made some room for BG.

DTS does it again!

This trade does not really make any sense. We would save a couple mil after next year, but we would still pay Jaric 7 mill for an extra year.

I have to agree...

The deal makes no sense but it does free up Griffin's spot and probably some headaches. I don't like the talent we would receive back ( high payed reserves) but it would enable us to keep both Kaman & Camby. Camby would be ideal to switch between Griffin & Kaman. That would have also opened up some minutes for DeAndre. Oh well...

If the trade were true, it would save us 8 million, while opening up a spot for Blake... Then Buckner or Jaric could be moved elsewhere individually, perhaps to save even more money... Jaric was actually pretty good for us and could be a decent back up PG... If true, I'd make this trade in a heartbeat... Still, don't believe it though... There is no way Sterling balks at putting another 8 million in his pocket.

But that would leave us with two roster spots used up. I would rather keep Zach than pay 10 mil to people to sit on the bench. And the saying is it might be there in the future for if we really need it.

Jason Hart was also good for us. I do not like this trade. I think there would be a taker for Zach after July 1st. We just have to wait and see how the PF market is..

Jaric is better than Hart... And, just because we might add Jaric and Buckner, doesn't mean either will take up a roster spot come november... And, it's not like we have all these great players on our bench... Collins, Jones and Acker could be replaced easily and we'd never know they were gone.

I think had zbo not gotten the DUI and the 2 game suspension, teams would have been giving offers for this guy like crazy, cause they would have thought that he finally matured.

I also agree with you but I will take the lesser of 2 evils in this situation. Just like Mays said, they could probably be packaged or dealt separately. Freeing up Griffin should be a priority right now...at least for me.

I rather Dun shorten the rotation ( young enough) to give time to Taylor & DeAndre than have Randolph waste away in a limited role for 16 million. I think moving him now is the right time. Next season will only bring down his productivity and surely lose value on an already devalued player.

They will hold a roster spot for three months of the regular season. They cant be moved by November. We would be stuck with them. Jaric barley got off the bench in Minnesota and Memphis. His best season with us was 9.9 and 6.1. The passing numbers were good but he also averaged 2.0 turnovers a game. And I like Collins and Jones better than these two. I also like Acker, who is young and learning..

Yes, he'll probably never be worth more than he is now... Particularly if Camby is the one who goes... That would mean Kaman at 5 and Blake at 4 and Randolph off the bench... If Kaman goes, then Zach or Blake would be an undersized center for a year and maybe Zach would hold some value... Of course, you know my opinion of Zach. I would take the first deal that comes down for fear that there wouldn't be another one.

i'm working on it - so far i'd heard nothing really appealed to the clippers yet - they don't want to dump a 20-10 player just to save money - you'd think clipper fans would be happy about that kind of attitude.

We are not getting any value back for a 20 10 guy. I would want at least a first round pick or couple of second rounders for zach or a serviceable SF. Seriously, Marko Jaric and Greg Buckner? We will pay a huge chunk of capsace for bench riders?

What would be fair value for a 20-10 guy like Randolph?

David West (21 and eight)?

Lamarcus Alridge (17 and eight)?

Those players aren't "20-10" but I would love to switch Randolph with those guys. I'm not sure their respective teams would feel the same, despite Zach's marginally superior numbers.

Then again, trading for those guys wouldn't solve the logjam in the front court. So, what exactly are the Clippers hoping in return for Randolph if not salary relief? About $14M of equal or better talent? Really?

a young talent to fit into the core - a nice pick - value can be had - patience is the right play here - whether it was darko or jaric - still junk

"update: I am told they wanted Darko, and the Grizz offered Jaric and Sterling said he would not pay Jaric another dime. That was the deal breaker from what I was told."

Come on... You're not going to get one of those guys for a guy we traded Tim Thomas for... Randolph has been dumped twice for nothing more than cap relief, to think we will do a whole lot better is absurd... I think we're lucky that anyone at all is interested in taking on his salary... There is such a thing as addition by subtraction in the NBA... Moving Zach has worked in the past for the teams that dumped him.. Portland got much better and the Knicks won 9 more games this year without him than they won the year before with him... And they got nothing in return for him.

At his salary, Zach, despite his 20/10 is not an asset. His 16 million can be spent on players who help more... Add to this, we need to clear playing time for Blake anyway, so it becomes an even clearer choice.

ew, what the hell. Why would we want to watch Marco jaric and Greg Buckner put on clipper uni's. Marco can't even put his jersey on correct & Buckner has been a scrub for years now. Zbo i know is in the way of griffins minutes but don't trade him for peanuts. At least zbo will matter in games unlike Jaric and oh god no G. buckner.

I rather have zbo 20/10 than two memphis scrubs who barley played 5 mins a game and get paid the same combined. ugly trade.

The two of them combined actually get 4 million less per year... That could be spent on someone else... I think at least one of the contracts ends earlier as well.

But hey, if Dunleavy can swing something better for him, great... I think Buckner is a fairly solid sub, comparable to Jones and Collins... I was always kind of a Jaric fan. I loved his defense, which is something we desperately need...

I know that we're trying to clear playing time, but should we really do that at the expense of the team? I don't think that trade would have made this team better. In fact it would probably make it much worse. We're not going to hit the jackpot with Randolph, but I think if we are patient and bide our time, that we will be able to do a good bit better than that. I think might have more value when he becomes an expiring contract.

Perhaps at some point we will find someone desperate for inside scoring and rebounding.

I also figure on Camby and Kaman missing a fair amount of games again next season, since they are so injury prone...

I don't think moving Zach is going to be an issue, teams will want him around the trade deadline if they have any difficulties scoring down low. He will be moved this year.

Checked Zach's record...

1996 arrested for shoplifting

1997 30 days under house arrest for battery

1999 Arrested for selling a stolen gun

2002 Sited for under-age drinking

2003 DUI

2003 Fought with Reuben Patterson, breaking his eye socket, suspended two games

2004 Lied to police about incident in a bar (he was there too) where his brother shot a gun on the dance floor

2008 Suspended one game for throwing headband at referee

2009 Punches Luis Amundson, suspended two games

2009 Arrested suspicion of DUI, suspended two games

And this is just the stuff he's gotten caught doing.

When people talk about the Jailblazers, it wasn't the other guys their talking about. They're talking about Randolph. I have a hard time believing we ever got him in the first place, let alone are playing hard to get in getting rid of him.

Its extremely important we move Zach, to ANYONE willing to take him. I can't believe this didn't go down. If we hope to be able to give Blake sufficient playing time, we need to trade Zbo.

To be fair to Z-Boat, these two incidents were practically a public service.

Wasn't it his old coach Tom Izzo who said something like he's thankful for everyday that Zach is not on the news for having shot someone?

Last night, I am told at the last minute Clippers owner Donald Sterling killed a trade last night that would have sent Zach Randolph to the Grizzlies for a package that included M. Jaric and G. Buckner.

The good news is that Heisley was clearly willing to take on money. That is at least exciting.

Nation, not sure what you're saying with this one...

Not saying Zach is Adolf Hitler... And I'm not a prude... I've done some underage drinking myself... I've driven when I shouldn't have a few times... I haven't gotten into 3 fights, shoplifted, sold a stolen gun, lied to the police, etc... Zach is among the worst character guys in the NBA...

And you can't settle a felony charge... He was acquitted in the court case for lack of proof... The lawsuit she filed against him was settled. They're two different things. In any event, it appears Kobe stopped raping. Zach's stupidity and lack of self control goes on and on...

Just a note, you can't "settle" a criminal charge, its a completely different proceeding. Kobe's settlement was for the CIVIL charge. He was acquitted by the Colorado judicial system...meaning they did not have enough evidence to prosecute him/ find him guilty beyong a preponderance of the evidence
