I assume by EJ you mean Eric Jordon, thus being Eric Gordon.. perhaps? |

His actual nickname is EJ because he is Eric Gordon Jr.
4. Westbrook
3. Mayo
2. Gordon
1. Rose
biased putting Gordon over Mayo? |

1. Rose
2. EJ
3. Westbrook
4. Mayo
Mayo is way too one-dimensional, look at Westbrook's numbers, he can rebound and pass better than EJ and Mayo and can score pretty damn well too. EJ will be the best scorer out of all of them however, because he has the best all-around scoring ability. Rose will obviously be the passer and eventually top 2-3 PG in the league. Westbrook can do what Rose can do, just not as good; however, he is the best defender out of them all. And Mayo will get only a little better every year, but not one of those guys that makes his teammates better the way the others do. |

I think Rose needs to get a really consistent jumpshot and then I think he is the best out of those 4 and I think EG and Mayo end up being about the same. Ill give EG the edge (correct me if im wrong) because I think he is a more efficient scorer and has the capabilities to become a deadly 3 point shooter. Im not a huge fan of westbrook- he cant play point that well and doesnt have the range to be a really effective SG. I think he will be good but he isnt in the top 3 out of these 4 guys.
so:
1. rose
2. EG
3. Mayo
4. Westbrook |

That's a real tough question but I love what Westbrook brings to the game. And I love what Rose brings to the game too.. It's such a hard choice, and there really is no wrong answer. But to me, I've got to go with:
1. Rose (he's just a pure game changer- playmaker for himself and others with size and strength rarely seen in a pure point)
2. Westbrook (a real up and comer the past couple years has become a solid true point and not just a combo guard like we thought he was out of college. team that with freaky athleticsm and great defense and he could be great. point guards are just too important.)
3. Gordon (probably the best all around scorer here because of range and ability to put ball on floor. Also a real solid defender however just a bit undersized for the 2 spot and not a point.)
4. Mayo (again no wrong answer here, but I see Mayo as a pure scorer who needs to learn how to get his teammates involved more often. also a good defender put again a bit undersized at the 2, just a bit. and not a true point.)
And again, there really is no wrong answer here. Give me any one of those guys and I'm happy, just like we're all completely happy we got Gordon, especially as the last chosen of these guys and a steal at no. 7. |

Totally agree with your rank. Westbrook for me is more a SG than a PG. |

| When its all said and done there are going to be handful of teams that will regret passing on EJ and letting him slip to the 7th spot. |

Yeah especially the Knicks who picked Danillo Gallinari right before us. I know he was injured last year and might not be too bad, but theres no way the Knicks wouldnt love to have Gordon right now. It would make their 2010 team look much more attractive, thats for sure. |

I agree with that ranking too. As stated above EJ is more efficient than Mayo.
Should be interesting seeing Harden and Westbrook play together. |

| Personally I've never understood the media's obsession with Mayo or Westbrook. I watched their college careers and lots of their pro careers and neither impresses me very much, Westbrook is an athlete, nothing more. Mayo puts up enough shots that he gets decent numbers. I say it's between EG and Rose. Eric is a better shooter, defender, and finisher. Rose is a better ball handler and more athletic. Both are great players. |

i would give the finishing part a tie. damn both rose and gordon know how to not get blocked when they get inside. |

| Nice question. Obviously trying to look into the future is tough, even discounting injuries you have to speculate on what kind of system these guys end up in. For example put any one of them on the Knicks and their numbers are going to look radically different in three or four years. Westbrook is probably the best pure athlete in the group, but he'll never score with the others running with KD, especially now with the addition of another scorer in Harden. I don't agree that he'll never make a serviceable point. I don't know if he'll ever be great because he may lack that special court vision that guys like Kidd, Magic and yes, believe it or not, Rubio have, but Westbrook DOES makes life miserable for fellow points defensively. Rose might not score huge numbers, being of the truer point mentality, but will eventually challenge DWill and CP3 for the "best in the league" status at that position. O.J. and Eric both benefit from being good shooters on bad teams (uh... sorry) but O.J.'s lack of conscience will always have him putting up more shots than Gordon. Eric's defensive prowess gives him an edge in my book, plus I'm hoping that he looks to pass a little more effectively this year. I think that he'll eventually be one of those guys that makes teammates better... I don't know if that will ever be O.J.'s strength. I have to wonder if maybe some of us weren't blinded to Beasley's talents in the indignation around the rookie game and the general sleeping on Gordon for ROY. If they decide to start him at three he's an 18/7 guy all day long, and will only improve those numbers as time passes. This was a guy with maturity problems starting out, but if he gets his head on right the only thing holding him back is him. All this in mind I'd go with Rose first as he'll vie for best at his position. Eric next, and maybe I'm being Clipper biased, but this team is ascending and he'll be a big part of that. The next three are tough. O.J. will be Redd revisited and that ain't bad. Keep in mind, as Memphis improves his numbers (ie shots) may actually go down some. Westbrook will collect a bunch of assits thanks to KD, Green, Harden and co. but will never threaten the DWill, CP3, Rose triumvirate. He'll be solid though. Beasley is hard to predict. A lot depends on who Miami brings in, and how they decide to use him. If they decide to let him score, to go to him as the second guy after DWade, he could end up third here. If not, well who knows? So, just for fun let's say Rose, Gordon, Beasley, Westbrook, Mayo. Bottom line though, these are all solid pros. This was a good draft. |
