I havent seen this at any other NBA website and I just checked a ton. Is there a more credible source outside of twitter?

If this is a done deal though, I like it. There also must be someone else included in the deal. Zach makes way more than Q doesnt he? Salaries dont match up.

The salaries don't have to match because the Griz are under the cap. I'm guessing that Buckner may have been included.

Clippers to trade Randolph for Quentin Richardson

The move clears the way for No. 1 pick Blake Griffin and frees up salary-cap space for the 2010 season.
    By Mark Heisler
    July 2, 2009
Clearing the way for No. 1 pick Blake Griffin, the Clippers have agreed to trade power forward Zach Randolph to Memphis for former Clipper Quentin Richardson, The Times learned today.

Because of salary-cap rules, the deal can't be completed until next week.

A Clippers spokesman said the team would have no comment on the report.

Randolph played 39 games for the Clippers last season after being acquired from New York, averaging 20.9 points and 9.4 rebounds, both team highs.

He was a core member of the team, right up until the Clippers won the lottery that enabled them to draft Griffin, considered one of the top power forward prospects in recent years.

Beyond that, the Clippers are intent on turning up the pace, which didn't fit Randolph, a half-court low-post player, but is perfect for the speedy Griffin.

It also works for the Clippers' bottom line, and their salary cap. With Richardson under contract for only this season, the deal gets them out from under Randolph's contract, which has two seasons, worth $33.3 million left on it.

This will have the effect of putting the Clippers far under the salary cap after the upcoming season, which may make them major players for the big 2010 free agent class.

OH NO. Q rich not sure how to handle this, i'm a big believer we need randolf to have success now. but hopefully Q rich will be a valuable piece in the clipper quest for the playoffs.

Good point. And yeah that would mean we do some solid things with this deal- Griffin gets more time, we get a backup SF in Q and maybe the most important thing out of this is we get some cap space. I like it.

I would assume we could still use our MLE, but would we want to. If we use it we eat into what we can spend in 2010.

Yay!!!!!! I'm happy right now. We did lose a 20/10 player...but now we made an opportunity to MAKE a 20/10 player out of Griffin. And plus we have a back-up SF. Exactly what we needed!!! I'm happy!! Really excited!!

^^^ yea but a good back up point guard would be nice. if the trade is straight up, the clipps have some extra cap room to work with. plus the additional 1.2 mil that skinner left aswell. so free agency could possibly get exciting for us clipp fans.

While I know there are mixed emotions about Zach leaving, lets not forget that 1 of our bigs was going to get moved and I think Zach was the one that needed to go the most. I would feel like it was a bigger risk if we had traded away Kaman or even Camby. I know Camby is a bit older but hanging on to him for future cap space or another valuable asset could really benefit us. With Kaman, hes our youngest guy and quite simply is our best Center on the team. Zach and our #1 play the same position.....and Zach is the guy that should go.

I do wish him well in Memphis. That team needs scoring from the post and Zach will easily provide that. Memphis might be decent next year if Conley has improved and Thabeet can hold his own on D.

One last note- Welcome back Q Rich.

Damn I still appreciate what Z-Bo tried to do. Question though are the Grizz now better than us?

Props to dunleavy. Like I said his gm skills are good. I hope this is a sign of having the team run more this season. If things line up next season baron will improve, blake will win roy, and we will go to the playoffs.

This trade was necessary. There is no way u draft blake griffin as number 1 pick and not start him. I'm glad dunleavy and management understand this.

I am stoked on this. Z-Boat wasnt gonna get us any where in the long run, maybe a few Ws but as a franchise i think this is huge.

Its funny I came online to post an article saying the Clips may be looking to trade Kaman for Rip Hamilton, but that obviously isnt gonna happen now.

Memphis did get the better talent, but the rest of the tteam will not be happy cus the pre-game buffets are not gonna have enough food for them anymore.

I think for all the outside stints Z-Bo was there showing up after his fathers death days later to help us compete personally I would have rather dealt Camby. Z-Bo was a poece that I felt could have been vaulable if given the chance. He didn't even get a F*cking whole season with the team before he was sent out and we didn't even get consistent wins until he got here.

Blake better step up because there are only 2 big units now Camby and Kaman/Griffin and DJ.

One last move to make... Bring in a high-quality backup PG to put some heat on Baron.

I also have mixed emotions about the loss of Z-bo That is, if there's a difference between ecstatic and overjoyed.

Z bo will get his in memphis and I think they will be improved. If we can somehow still get battier from houston for camby our team starting lineup would look nice!

    Baron
    Ej
    Battrier
    Blake
    Kaman

On top of that Randolph and Gasol all that team needed was a banger who can score, Gasol and Thabeet are 24/7 insurance on the defensive side for Z-Bo and Z0-Bo is the cure on the other end.

Contract aside in ways the Grizz got a steal in the need department.
