I've had it with the nonsense that's gone on this summer...no free-agent signing (none to be happy or excited about), no trades, nothing...nada! So I've decided that the only way the Clippers could ever actually have a successful season this 07-08' is to throw a surprise retirement party for Elgin Baylor!!! Pack his bags and belongings and send him somewhere so the Clippers could actually move on and make moves b/c I believe that if there was ever a change to happen, it should be in the front office!!!!! So if Baylor is gone...we could have someone who can start making things happen for this team...bring in Jerry West!!!!!!!

Everyone's invited to Elgin Baylor's Surprise Retirement Party!!!!

Now take it easy Clips84- the summer is not over yet! It looks like we just lost out on Brevin Knight, however....

David, we lost out on Knight? When? How? I need to go read up on this news or is it a rumor? I just heard that KG might actually be heading to Boston after all...totally OT but man can you imagine if Boston can pull that off? Good thing they didn't land Oden! It does really suck that the Clipps haven't done didly squat. I'm hoping for some miraculous transaction in August...

I think Dave might be mistaken or maybe that take was based on the now famous "fake article". Eddie House just signed with the Celtics, but I am not a House fan cause he is to streaky, and more of a streaker shooter, not a PG.

Geez! Why all this rancor against Baylor Clips84??? He has been a great GM the last few years. Are you giving up on him now??? Do you think Jerry West will magically bring in A PLAYER THAT WILL BE OUR SAVIOR ???? I think your thinking too much like Kobe and the Laker fans. Jerry hasn't faired too well out in Memphis...ain't that right Clipes84??? So why would we want any Laker blood here??? How can you praise Jerry West ( who hasn't done a thing in Memphis) over Elgin Baylor who made the team that went to the 2 rnd in the playoffs 2005-2006. I like Elgin and what he's done for this team. He also made Sterling empty his pockets out to get talent on the court. I take this topic as an insult. What proof do you have that he isn't working on move now? What makes you think that making a quick move to please you won't back fire on the team. Man, take a chill pill and let Baylor do his thing. That's why he's working the front office and your just posting.

As far a Brevin goes, I think he has only one offer on the table....ours. His agent said there are several teams interested in him but he wouldn't mention any teams. Sounds to me like his agent wants to build his clients value. The agent also said that "Brevin is very much interested in playing for the clippers, it's just a matter of numbers".

Actually, Ive lost faith in the direction that Baylor has taken over the last few years. Yes, given the fact that he made it possible to get EB...which is the best move he's ever made, that does not mean that he has done a great job getting this team to a real contender. I believe that he is too passive with trying to get players. I believe that they need to get the idea that this team needs more younger players not fading veterans. I know it's not only him that makes the decisions within the organization but he must at least try to be more assertive.

NO! I dont believe that Jerry West will get a player that will be "OUR SAVIOR" but I believe that he'd be able to make a move that will improve this team immediately! Look at his stint with the Lakers...he got kobe, he signed Shaq...come on! Im not saying he's a great GM...but he has the mindset of a real GM that wants to make his team better not within the "okay" standards. Look at what Baylor did...he drafted Korolev instead of Granger!?! Come on!! He thought he could draft a Manu Ginobili...but he made a mistake by drafting him anyways.

Let's be realistic here...Baylor is ok..but I'd rather have someone else in his place.

Granted, the points you made are valid and good but Jerry West hasn't done anything since the Shaq and Kobe days. By the way, those days are long, long, gone! In fact, their best player pau Gasol wants out....how's that for a great GM with a "mindset that wants to make his team better not within the "okay" standards"(your quote). Now with Korolev, one can't pass judgment on him just yet, the guy is only 20 yrs old. There is time to develope. He also never really played. The Clippers still believe in him so therefor, I will too. As I'm sure you know a draft is a gamble so picking a player based on someone else's system will not guarantee that he will workout in another system. Everyone takes a chance with their picks...everyone. I can see a GM getting fired for making the same mistakes over and over (JERRY WEST) but Baylor hasn't done that. Getting Cassell for Jaric...Great deal. If it wasn't for Baylor putting the team together the Clipper nation wouldn't have all the support it has...look at us discussing different opinions for the sake of the team...in the off-season no less. but I have to say your notion that Jerry West is better than Baylor doesn't hold water. If we based this on the last few years I clearly win the debate. Now, if you said this 10 to 12 years ago then you would win. This is a "what have you done for me lately" business so I'll take Baylor any day of the week. I'm sure you brought Jerry's name up because of Kobe's demand for his return but remember that Kobe wants Jerry for all the wrong reasons. He wants leverage on who comes in to play with him. He also wants a father figure cause the boy doesn't no how to be a man. That boy needs love and guidance. lol

As far the Korolev pick is concerned, I can see why you might think we should have gotten Granger but anyone can play Monday morning quarterback. Granger played and Korolev didn't. Wait till he plays before you judge .

Finally, I don't see the connection between Korolev and Ginobili. One is from Argentina and the other from Russia. Korolev plays forward and Ginobili plays Guard. Sorry I don't see any connection....but thats just me.

[quote="clipper*joe"][quote="Clips84"]Actually, Ive lost faith in the direction that Baylor has taken over the last few years. Yes, given the fact that he made it possible to get EB...which is the best move heExactly my point about Korolev not having any playing time. Why would they draft someone who has not stepped foot on the court longer than 5min. and be a top 15 draftee a few years back. Yes he's 20 yrs old and still have a long way to go to prove himself that he could play, but why would you keep someone just to watch, cheer on and keep the benches warm each and every game?

The Jerry West was an example of whom I'd like Baylor to sorta start envisioning the situation with the Clippers. Second, the connection between Korolev and Ginobili is that Baylor thought that by drafting an international player is to hope that he could end up being up in the ranks of where Ginobili, Gasol and everyone else is...which has completely failed miserably so far. I believe Korolev would be a better player outside of the Clippers System because of another issue with Dunleavy. If he expects Korolev to get better, let the kid play in games. Let him make mistakes, let him fail...but at the same time, improve each and every game b/c thats how all everyone develops into a good player, not by just sitting on the bench and hoping he'd get better during Summer League or Practice.

Another thing, the Clippers only have a short amount of time to be able to be a playoff contender b/c after this season, EB could be gone, Corey as well, trades could be done to get rid of players like Mobley or Thomas, Cassell is expected to retire and become a coach soon, Livingston's status is really bad and basically the only players that are left are Jordan, Thornton, Ross....

So all I am focusing on this issue about Baylor is the fact that he has not done any deals this season and we've lost so many chances on getting players that could make a difference!

but thats just me...dont know about what you think...

Looks like we are starting to agree on something.... a different look for the team next year((agree). Maggette might be gone but I do believe EB will stay(half agree). He is the main player in this franchise and I'm certain Sterling , Baylor and Dunleavy will do everything in their power to keep brand. Mobley and Thomas will still be under contract though(Don't agree , Hard to trade, too much money). Livingston's future is up in the air (agree with you). Cassell will not be a Clipper next year (completely agree).

Your qoute;

"So all I am focusing on this issue about Baylor is the fact that he has not done any deals this season and we've lost so many chances on getting players that could make a difference!"

(kind of agree but....not)

They tried to get Francis but failed...can't blame them. Francis wanted to go back to Houston where he has a home. it wasn't about the money. This potential deal let some PG go but The front office made the right choice to wait out Francis's decision. If Francis was to sign with the Clippers I bet we would not be talking right now....Right? Well, every article and critic sided with the Clippers prior to signing with the Rockets. Hell, I would've waited to, so don't blame Baylor on this situation. They have also offered a pre-contract to Knight almost 2 weeks ago so don't tell me they are sitting on their hands. 1)Francis could have made a difference but chose a team no one thought he would sign with. 2) Knight can make a difference and Baylor is working on it. Who else is out in free agency that can make a difference ???? Better yet, who was out there from the beginning that was signed and was attainable for the MLE????? I don't mean trades either.

" the connection between Korolev and Ginobili is that Baylor thought that by drafting an international player is to hope that he could end up being up in the ranks of where Ginobili, Gasol and everyone else is...which has completely failed miserably so far".

(dont agree)

First , every GM would hope that their pick would end up like Gasol, Ginobili ...that is a fact! Second , European (international )players are not a TREND. That is where the new talent is coming from. I don't think that a GM goes in to the draft thinking" hummmm? My objective is to find the next Ginobili regardless of the talent here in the US". That just doesn't work for me. I'm sure Baylor picked Korolev based on what he could do and how he could help the team....That all! Can't read into it and can't play Monday Morning Quarterback on this pick... too late, let it go.
