Here is the actual article from the Associated Press. BOSTON - Kevin Garnett is leaving Minnesota after the Boston Celtics agreed to acquire the All-Star forward in a multiplayer trade with the Timberwolves, a Celtics official told The Associated Press on Monday. Among the players who could be headed to Minnesota are forward Al Jefferson, guard Sebastian Telfair, swingman Gerald Green and center Theo Ratliff, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal had not been completed. The official also said the Timberwolves would get at least one draft choice. The teams still had some things to clarify with....

The good thing about this trade is that the Lakers didn't get him!! All those Faker fans are crying right now because they thought they'd get him eventually.

I'm glad as well Although I would've loved to see Kobe complaining about not getting enough touches by mid season. The Fakers didn't have anything to offer anyway.

Just imagine if the ping pong balls came out in favor of Boston and they got Oden:

C: Greg Oden

PF: Kevin Garnett

SF: Paul Pierce

SG: Ray Allen

PG: my mother

Damn! But I'm sure had the Celtics gotten Oden, Minnesota would've probably wanted him to be part of the KG trade. This makes Boston from the laughing stock of the league to one of the premiere teams, at least in the East. I bet LBJ isn't having a good night sleep after hearing this story.

And not just this year! Laker fans believe that devine destiny would bring KG to them when he opts out next summer. But it sounds like Boston negotiated an extension (Ainge ain't dumb). So there is no "next summer" for the Lakers either!

Man, this looks great on paper! Who is going to get most of the touches???? I'm sure Allen would sacrifice for the team but what about Pierce and Garnett??? I don't like Boston but I have to admit that they are all class players.

Danny Ainge will go down as one of the greatest GM's or one of the Dumbest. I can't wait to find out.

So is McHale still on Boston's payroll or what!

I would believe that, except he did fob off Olawakandi on Boston.

Yeah I think it's going to turn out great for Boston barring any injuries to the main 3. I mean they're all seasoned veterans who know what it takes to win games so they'll be able figure out the ball sharing part. But their time frame to do damage is short because Allen & KG are getting old & KG can become a free agent next summer.

Celts gave up way too much for him...T'Wolves wont start winning right away, but they could be good soon with all the youth they got. Celts gotta start winning right now though...and this trade should help them at least make the playoffs. It's only gonna work for a few years though...cuz with Boston's weak bench...their 3 superstars will be playing a LOT of minutes. Allen, Pierce and Garnett are all still very good players...but are a couple years away from a major decline. Boston better make some smart decisions with the rest of the lineup in the next few years...or they're back to zero. They're gonna ride the Big 3 though. Good for them.

Ok, now that Garnett is a Celtic, Do you think it would be easier for EB and Maggette to make the West All-Star squad?

If the team is 10 or more games over .500 at the break then I can almost guarantee that EB and CM will make the '08 West team.I definitely see EB making the team this year. T-Mac, Duncan or Melo would most likely start with CM coming off the bench but then again you can't forget about Marion.

It won't be easy for either of our cornerstone players!!!!

If its ever gonna come this would be the year...KG is gone and its his contract year.

This could well be Maggette's (last chance for an) All-Star year!!

Great point SmyLee. This is a window of opportunity for EB. Corey? that's a tough call. I'd like to see it, but it seesm most guys get the call after years of having the reputation as a dominant player. Fans around the league aren't likely to vote for Corey based on one year of superior play even if he deservies it. The fans are swayed by the BIG names: Dirk, McGrady, Duncan, Marion, Melo. I think even Boozer has more rep than Corey lately. It would take a few years of playing at that level for Corey to get recognized. It's the sad truth.

But with R Lewis and Ray Allen defecting to the East as well, the window has definitely opened a little.

It's tough: in baseball they select 25 guys from each league, that's an average of about 2 players per team. In the NBA, it's less than 1 per team. With Houston and San Antonio hogging two spots each ... Sad

Yeah Corey will have to play amazing AND the Clippers would have to be near the top of the West the whole first half of the season for him to make it. He's gonna have to explode with his numbers...but still the Clips need to win win win to get noticed and that's what it will take to get him All-Starred.

The coaches would have to vote him in in order for CM to be an All-Star (wonder if Mike Dunleavy would vote for him! haha). Every year, the west line-up is pretty much a lock from the fans' vote:

PG: Nash

SG: Bryant

SF: McGrady

PF: Duncan

C: Yao

As ether mentioned, CM would have to play better than guys like Marion, Boozer, Carmelo, Dirk. These guys are superstars, whereas CM is borderline star (hate to say it...). Yeah Lewis and Garnett are gone to the East so that should help, but then you got Rookies like Durant and Oden who could be playing in both All-Stars...I'll be disappointed if EB doesn't make it to the All-Star this season, he has no reason NOT to if he returns to the EB of two seasons ago.

IF Butler was in the West he wouldn't sniff the last spot on the roster, if EB was in the East, he'd be a perennial All-Star. But I think we can all agree that EB didn't deserve to be an All-Star last season.
