Survey given to the 44 rookies in attendance at the rookie photo shoot:

http://www.nba.com/rookies/survey_0708.html

Al Thornton was voted Most Athletic, and was second in the category of Most Overlooked.

Hope The Thorn comes in and makes 1 through 13 regret that they didn't draft him! Well, at least 3-13!

SmyLee, great article. Maybe Clips84 needs to look at this? He has been complaining about Elgin Baylor's lack of improving the team. Clippers have received great reviews from critics about their draft picks this year so It doesn't surprise me that Al Thorton's peers have also given their vote of confidence in his ability. Damn, he's in the top 5 in just about every question asked.

No matter what changes happen next year , it will be pleasant to know Thorton will still be with us.

Hey Hey...take it easy alright Clipper*Joe

Al Thornton is gonna be good for a long time...but all I've been tryna preach is Elgin Baylor's overall moves since his tenure with the Clippers. Do you really think he's done a great job with the Clippers over the time he's been with the organization? Be realistic.

Thats all im going to say...I just had to respond to what you said about me complaining.

I think you're the only one who really thinks Elgin's good.

Dont get me wrong he's prolly a good guy, but not GM material.

Im done.

Nice- I like that- "The Thorn". Hope he'll be a thorn-in-the-side for Clipper opponents Smile.

Clips84, Just having a lil fun is all. I just tried to prove my point. We can get so caught up at judging but When we are confronted with proof to counter what one is saying , people get offended. On all your previous posts, you never mention anything about his tenure as a Clipper GM, all you say is what he hasn't done THIS OFF SEASON. Had you Mentioned the latter, I would have agreed. I have defended Elgin's performance the last few years (see my posts) and I think he has done a MARVELOUS job at getting EB, KAMAN, MOBLEY, CASSELL, MAGGETTE, and LIVINGSTON.

We were one game away from reaching the western finals 2 years ago. Tell that is not a good job! If not, I wonder what you think about all the other GM's that haven't gotten that far and have more time in????

By the way, I might be the only one that thinks Baylor is going a great job but that's o.k.. I don't post to get validation from anyone. I post for the love of this team! I started posting because I wanted to show my support for the outstanding job this team has done the past few years. I guess I get a little bothered by anyone who bashes the team or their staff. I'm out.

Thorton was indeed a steal, but sometimes you get lucky. It could just as easily been a situation that Thorton would not have been there at 14. Elgin had no control over that. He was just lucky enought to be the beneficiary of dumb luck. On the other had, it seems obvious to everyone that we need another PG. We have MLE money available. We have done nothing. Now Navarro is gone to Memphis. Boston has the the next pick. And we are probably down to 2nd and 3rd tier PG's. There isn't even anybody left who is good enough to get our full MLE. We might still get a good player, just not a great player. If you exclude Elgin's dumb luck in the draft, he gets an F grade, as in he hasn't really done anything. How can you do nothing when you finished out of the playoffs? How many other teams can brag about doing nothing? None, only Elgin.

I agree with JamFan...

How can you not do anything after not making the playoffs and rely upon the current team that we have? Elgin just cant rely on this team to make it this season by only drafting Al Thornton...we need help in all areas because with our current situation with PG ...I dont believe that the Clippers would even make it to the playoffs without any changes. I just hope that there IS HOPE over the horizon...

Jamfan, So by your rational, anything after the 1st pick is luck because somehow the player you picked was still in the draft correct?? Your rational doesn't hold water. Baylor could have chosen anyone else left in the draft , he had plenty of players to pick from....That's what you call luck. Luck is when you have no choices of players and end up with a winner!. He made the best choice at that time which is what a GM is supposed to do.

By the way jamfan, Didn't we try to get Francis? Are we not trying to get Knight...which we will. Tell me he isn't trying. Francis chose Houston because That's where he wanted to live (owns a home). No one predicted that outcome, everyone thought he would sign with us...everyone! Aside from those 2 free agents, who else was taken that we could have picked up for the MLE. Don't say Navarro because that would have never happened so don't use him as an excuse.

I'm sure you just read that EB will need surgery. Now if we hadn't picked Thorton where would we be. If we would have chosen a PG in the first rnd we would be out of luck right now. Thank god he chose a PF/ SF.

Look, if Brand can return before the season starts we will make some noise. Remember my words!

Jamfan, you're right we haven't done ****. Without Brand are season is definitely over. We have to hope for the number 1 overall pick or at least a top 3.

TRADE: We need to trade Sam Cassell and Maggette who have value but are also free agents, and we will lose them to free agency. Cassell will retire or go to a contender and Maggette will not resign after the way Dumbleavey treated him and the fact that they drafted Al Thornton, instead of OG like say Nick Young or Belinelli.

TRADE FOR: Young cheap talent. I take anybody. I like Pietrus, because he's done it in the Playoffs in the shadow of J-Rich and the fact that he's actively being shopped for cheap. I'd take Patrick O'Bryant, Pietrus and Sarunas for Cassell.

P.S. Before any trade proprosals please make sure that any trade proposal works salray wise. Use realgm.com/src_tradechecker/3/
