The pursuit of Ramon Sessions is heating up.

Sessions, the Milwaukee Bucks talented young point guard who is a restricted free agent, is drawing intense interest from the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Clippers.

What’s more, it isn’t out of the realm of possibilities a third team " NBA officials at the recent NBA Summer League in Las Vegas speculated Oklahoma City " may make a last-minute attempt to land Sessions as well.

Officials from the Knicks and Clippers contacted Bucks general manager John Hammond Monday and they discussed Sessions’ situation.

Both teams are considering offering Sessions their mid-level exception, which starts at $5.854 million in the first season. The annual salary then can increase each year thereafter by a maximum of eight percent " or $468,000.

It is believed James “Chubby’’ Wells, Sessions’ agent, is looking for a five-year deal that would be worth approximately $34.5 million. Both the Knicks and Clippers apparently are amenable to that request.

hmmmm, is telfair getting traded??

will sessions back up gordon??

will taylor get waived??

did dunleavy win the battle between "THE OWNER" in not getting A.I??

If the our organization is dumb enough to give sessions a 5 year $34 mill contract, or anything close too that... does that mean "goodbye Al"???? Or dare i say, goodbye Baron??????

sessions/telfair/taylor

gordon/ricky

Al/novak/?

Griffin/smith/MARK MADSEN lol

kaman/camby/jordon

lol talk about mailing it in for a couple of years

The Clippers have also tossed out the idea of doing a sign and trade with Milwaukee, dangling their trade exception as part of the deal. The Clippers, Knicks and Bucks are expected to resume talks Tuesday and there are indications a resolution could occur at that time. Sessions, 23, is regarded as one of the premier young point guards in the NBA. He has already compiled some impressive numbers. Racine Journal-Times

GOOD get rid of Baron and have Sessions start.

I kno we'd be a young team but our team would remind me so much of Portlands it'd be ridiculous, + our players have a much higher ceiling than theirs.

Also I must be a genius or the Clippers or the NBA gods are listening to what I have to say. All friggin' year I wanted TWO players count em TWO that would help turn this team around. We've secured Blake Griffin, Sessions = #2.

God this would make me the happiest man in thee entire planet if this takes place. I bet we could get a really sweet deal for Baron Davis from someone too.

Apparently the Knicks are supposed to be offering their MLE for Sessions shortly.

We need to really make a move here this week, I'd friggin' hate to see AI in a Clipper uni with Sessions still on the board. Granted I wouldn't mind seeing AI in a Clipper uni if Sessions is off the board.

I guess what we do have going for us is we can offer a whole helluva lot more than the Knicks for Sessions which is a large trade exception, a player and cash or a draft pick. I say we do it.

Also for those that aren't aware Sessions can play the 1 or the 2. And don't start freaking out about him taking minutes away from Gordon. IMO Sessions will be far more valuable than Gordon will for any NBA team. Gordon is a good scorer and good on defense but having a PG that shoots well, has great numbers and a huge upside is a lot better than getting a SG. We can easily find another Gordon down the road. A guy like Sessions comes along very rarely. Only 3 other players are similar to him currently in the NBA, D Wills, CP3 and D Rose.

But,if session will go to new york,we can make some moves like:

-Sign AI3 a 1 year contract, hoping he will come off the bench,

-Send Camby or Kaman (i prefer camby) to DET for Prince, they need a center,we need a SF,a win-win trade

-re-sign novak ('coz nobody will make him an offer, and he'll accept our q-offer)

By this moves our roster will be:

STARTER

B.Davis-E.Gordon-T.Prince-B.Griffin-C.Kaman (or Camby)

6TH MAN

AI3

BENCH

S.Telfair-R.Davis-C.Smith

MORE BENCH

M.Taylor-M.Collins-S.Novak-M.Madsen-D.Jordan

Your thoughts???

AI won't never accept to be a role player coming off the bench.

Sessions is the guy but anyways I wouldn't trade Baron. Baron, Gordon and Sessions can play in the same team although I think the odd man out coming off the bench would be Sessions

Clippers can get get a sign and trade done if they give up future assets. A protected top 10 pick or a couple of second round picks should do it. I think the bucks just want some sort of value back for sessions. Hammond will receive alot of criticism if he just let's sessions walk for nothing. Sessions would be a very very solid back up to Baron Davis. He is capable of starting and is bound to have a breakout year. After next year, we can try to move baron if Session elevates his game. Bring in sessions and we will have 3 solid pgs in davis, and Telfair. Mike Taylor can go work at Mcdonalds.

I love how people are selling Mike Taylor short now after he was considered a great pick up when we made the move to get him on draft night. I still think hes got a good upside and is serviceable. However the majority of you want to throw him under the bus.

I just don't see him getting anytime playing behind BD, Ramon, and Telfair. I was a Mike Taylor fan early in the season but it appears that he regressed based on his summer league play.

I don't know if we are going to keep Telfair if we land Sessions, or if we would keep Baron for much longer if we landed Sessions. He should be a starter on most any NBA team right now. Maybe if things explode in New York and they get shafted in 2010 we can send them Baron Davis.

I dont want to get rid of Taylor by any means. He is clearly a young talent with lots of potential. While summer league isnt the NBA, and Taylor showed some flashed last year, the summer league did show us that he isnt really a PG. If he is our backup PG this year, we are in trouble. Telfair is a better passing PG, Mike is still more of a scoring/energy guard off the bench.

Still hope we land Sessions though. What an amazing guard rotation we would have with Sessions getting 25-35 minutes a game behind Baron and Gordon at the 1/2 spot.

I could also see Telfair as part of a trade deal if we shipped out Camby as an incentive. Although he has problems he's decent quality, has a low salary and can still increase his skill. Or maybe if we even decided to part ways with Kaman.

Our team will be more well rounded and balanced with we land Sessions. I remember when Rockford brought up this idea way back. I thought it would be unlikely. Im glad I was wrong and dude was right. At least we are in play and that is all I can ask for. At least we are trying. I just hope that everything falls into place and we get this deal done.

Well if we pick up Sessions and still have BD and telfair on the roster Mike is as good as gone. His contract isn't guaranteed. I'd love to keep Mike on board as he has some growing to do but still has potential, but if we can't trade one of our PG's away (BD or telfair), Mike would be our 4th string PG off the bench. No way we keep him if his contract can come off the books and we don't have to pay him.

I like Sessions. But I also like Telfair. He just needed a good point guard to follow. Who were the point guards that mentored him when he was with Portland, Boston, and Minny?

Portland:

04-05= Damon Stoudemire & Nick Van Exel

05-06= Jarret Jack & Rookie Steve Blake (not really but just throwing it out there)

Boston:

06-07= Delonte West & Rookie Rajon Rondo (Again, not really)

Minnesota:

07-08=Only listed Pointguards there were Telfair and Jaric.

Last year= Telfair was starter. His backup was Randy Foye

In a sign and trade scenario, would you guys be willing to give up our future first rounder from Minnesota? I would personally, I'm tired of the lottery, and that kind of move would show the team we are committed to winning and that we can be playoff contenders

Having three teams involved tells me the price is going up for Sessions. Either Sessions is asking for more and/or the Bucks are asking for more if a sign and trade is also in the works. It's gonna cost someone to get this guy.

I agree that he could do well in our system. I really like the idea of getting sessions (sign and trade for telfair and exception) and AI, if he can play off the bench. Also trading Camby for Prince would be absolutely amazing. That is a playe that should be starting over Thornton. Then Thornton could truly be our instant offense off the bench.

I really think Baron will play well for us this year so as tempting as it might be to send him packing if we picked up sessions and AI, I think its worth giving some time.

Our lineup wuld be insane:

PG Davis/Sessions/Taylor?

SG Gordon/AI/Sticky

SF Prince/Thornton/Sticky

PF Griffin/Smith/Novak/Madsen

C Kaman/Jordan/Smith

and whatever other fillers we need to finish up our team...

Yes... We should be a much improved team this year, and better the years after that. Our first round picks won't be worth what they were in recent years... By all means, move one if that's what it takes to get Sessions...

Sessions will be a perfect fit in a 3-guard rotation of Baron, Griffin and Sessions... On an average game, each could get 32 minutes or so... Baron and Griffin could start. When Sessions is in, he plays the PG, since he's a better passer than Baron and Baron can move to the 2 for half of his playing time...

I don't think Baron is going anywhere this off-season, though Dunleavy continues to surprise... Basically, Baron played himself into untradeability last year. He'll have to restore his reputation this year before anyone will swallow his fat contract. I do, however, think Dunleavy would be more than willing to move him if a decent deal came through...

Regarding AI, I would be very surprised if we got him... The coaches have made it known by leaks to the press that they don't want him... When he talks to Dunleavy, we can be sure that meeting won't go well... Iverson is not going to say all the right things... He never has in the past so why would he start now?...

I'll be very surprised and disappointed if Iverson comes here.

If Dunleavy pulls off his Sessions deal, he will have set himself up to be GM of the year... Provided he gets it done as a coach... This team should be a playoff team, or damn close to it with future years brighter still... If he fails, he'll have no one to blame but himself and I don't see how he could hang onto his job...

He would have to be bumped up to GM to serve out his contract. A young, inexpensive coach could be hired if it's about money; say Cassell, or Rambis, or some other rookie (I know Rambis head coached briefly). It wouldn't cost too much more than what DTS is paying now...

The problem with bringing in another coach is that the only ones who are foolproof already have jobs; Phil, Adelman, D'Antoni, Pop, Sloan. Nobody comes with a guarantee... Even Doc Rivers and Stan V. flamed out at first.

And why we haven't made a run at Avery is clear... Dunleavy isn't going to fire himself to make that run... Avery is also known as a pretty tight-fisted guy as well... He can be as demanding as Dunleavy.

I have always been critic with Dunleavy as a coach but I must confess I really like the way he moves the players and try to assemble a good team.

I think Craig Smith can be a steal and trading Randolph making room for BG is another great move. If we can land Sessions and a decent SF giving away players like Ricky, Telfair, Mardy or Madsen then I'll upgrade his status to genius as a GM

Sessions would be a great 3rd guard, but Gordon is a much better shooter. Sessions does not have a high FG%. To rely on him as a primary scoring option on the 1st team would lead to a very unproductive offense.

I hope they get him as a 3rd guard, but Gordon is not a throwaway.

I highly doubt they would deal Baron in this situation. MDsr is only talking about Sessions for depth. The Bucks probably don't want an expensive PG. And LAC is more likely to deal a lower salary player and us the TPE to get Sessions.

I agree ToneE ... but does Milwaukee need another b/up PG? They have Jennings and Ridnour. Not sure Telfair is needed there. Maybe they could find a 3rd partner who needs depth at PG (NY, Philly).
