Now we have a good quality back-up for Cassell.

Another question arises upon who shall step up now that Brand will be gone for a year. Will Thomas step up to the plate? Aaron Williams good 'nuff? Lets not forget Paul Davis...he was amazing during the Summer League.

Now it's a waiting game 'til game 1 of the season....

What do you think about Al Thorton stepping in EB's shoes???? I would take Thorton over Thomas myself. What say you.

I knew Knight would be a Clipper. Isn't ironic that the day we get Knight , we llose EB???

I definitely think Thornton will step up...I see him playing about 2-3 positions: PF/SF/SG, but he will mostly now play the PF/SF position.

It's Thornton, Kaman, and Maggette's time to shine...more over on Maggette because in my opinion he has to carry this team on his back. BETTER PLAY SMART!

Clippers sign Brevin Knight

Journeyman point guard will back up Cassell.

By Jason Reid, Times Staff Writer

7:25 PM PDT, August 3, 2007

The Clippers' pursuit of a point guard ended Friday when the team agreed to terms with free agent Brevin Knight on a two-year, $4-million contract, league sources said.

The Clippers turned to the 10-year veteran after finishing second to the Houston Rockets in the quest to sign former All-Star Steve Francis and considering trades to acquire another established point guard to share the position with Sam Cassell.

Knight, 31, sidelined often throughout his career, must undergo a physical before signing the contract. He was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the 1997 draft after playing for Stanford. The Clippers will be his eighth NBA team.

The 5-foot-10 guard averaged 9.1 points and 6.6 assists last season for Charlotte in 45 games. Knight's career averages are 8.3 points and 6.8 assists.

The Clippers needed help at point guard because Shaun Livingston is still recovering from major knee surgery and may not play in the 2007-08 season and Cassell, who was injured for much of last season, turns 38 in November.

Beautiful- it's a 2 year contract and for a very fair $4 mil. Welcome aboard Brevin! Too bad this good news comes the same day as the horrific EB news. Sigh....

I just read on the ESPN ticker that EB will be gone for 6 months....YIKES!

Do you think we can still try to get Varejao?? He's alright...I think.

Clipper*Joe....calm down!

You've been tryna argue with someone on here...tsk tsk tsk. Now you better start doin' a better job with your research alright? Dont rely just upon just one person's findings...find out for yourself whether it's true or not.

last time...take it easy!

I find nothing wrong with Clipper Joe's take. We certainly signed Knight for cheap. That is probably why it took so long. Means we still have MLE money to spend. Don't know how much it would take to sign Varejao, and I think he might be a restricted FA. The guys we have to fill in for Brand will never fill his shoes. Glad to hear it is only for a couple of months. Thorton is who I would like to see on the court, but it would be tough on a rookie SF/SG to guard the toughest PF's in the league. Elton's injury certainly makes everyone have to step up.

Singleton has signed with Tau Ceramica from Spain...I could see him playing more than with the Clips. I`m almost sure hes gonna have a great impact

Aren't you doing the same thing??? Look the L.A. Times reported the 2 months...Not me! I was called a Jackass after the apology....AFTER the apology!!!!! As for a better job of research and not depending on another's research, well I looked it up in the L.A. times.

Now, I took it upon myself to check more on the injury and found the newest report on ESPN and realized that since it came out after the L.A.times report , it would be more accurate. I humbled myself and started a new topic about the EB situation. I did the research myself and corrected myself. I apologized before I laid out the article so don't tell me I'm depending on another's research. This was all me! I posted the correct news before anyone else in spite of my earlier research. Now, that didn't mean I was wrong, it meant I relayed what someone else wrote. I will take info. from a newspaper before I would take someone's opinions without any backup....do you follow????

I don't know why you even got involved in this? This had nothing to do with you. Read over your post and think about what you said. I really doesn't make any sense. I wasn't trying to argue, I was called a name! And please don't tell me what I can post or how I should go about posting because I corrected myself before anyone had the chance to.

In a newspaper , writers retract all the time so Why is my apology and correction not O.k. with you???? I think you are the one that wants to argue for the sake of coming off as the politically correct mediator. I was the one politically correct here. I said I was sorry and I inserted the correct....No,let me rephrase that; the "UPDATED" information when it was available. Doe's that make me a "jackass"? No, it makes a responsible person. I didn't have to apologize but i did. I didn't have post the most current information but i did! In the future, If some disagreement should arise between me and another poster, please use your best judgment and don't get involved. Thank you!

Repped High Quality Post

Great- there goes JSing. Remember those two double-doubles he got as a starter in his first two NBA games? Oh well- best of luck to James- thanks for the news Miquel.

Okay guys we're all fellow Clipper buddies here so let's all have a big group virtual hug Wink. No doubt the Brand news made us all a little testy, including myself. I have a feeling that the team will respond well to this adversity, and that guys will step up. I'm just happy that we still got the leadership of Sammy Cassell and now a great vet in Brevin Knight!

I see Brevin Knight as a player without shooting and without size...He's very quick but he's undersized to guard NBA playmakers...Let's hope we could have a healthy Sam I Am because if I'm not wrong Brevin has never led a team to PO or something big...I'm sorry for my pesimism but I try to be realistic

And Brevin is not expected to lead the way. Brevin is expected to lead the second team while Cassell sits down for a breather. This year will be about a team effort not about ONE man leading the way. Cassell is considered a leader on the floor as well as Mobley although he's more of a "spiritual leader" per say. He's the one that motivates by words and is the first to extend his hand when someone hits the floor. I think they are better suited for the team leaders but like I said, They will all lead for a chance at the post season.

Hmmm- apparently the contract has not been signed yet. I guess that's why there hasn't been any formal announcement. I hope Brevin doesn't back out after finding about what happened to EB.
