Here is the bad news! I also want to apologize for stating it would take 8 to 10 weeks for healing + a few weeks of rehab. I googled the info. and related the information to a few out there. I am sorry but I thought my info. was correct. Here is the correct info. from ESPN; EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- In the latest nasty injury blow for the Los Angeles Clippers, cornerstone forward Elton Brand ruptured his left Achilles tendon on Friday during his usual daily workout. Brand, 28, is expected to undergo surgery next week and joins teammate Shaun Livingston on....

Oh me oh my.... This is crazy- how in the world??? I just hope it's just 2 months like the article said! With EB's work ethic I wouldn't be surprised if he return sooner. If the team can hang in there at around .500 they'd be in great shape once he gets back. Thornton and Thomas are going to be huge now. Heck maybe we can get JSing back- I don't think he's signed with anyone yet.

BTW ClipperPains you need some Prozac- you are one depressed fellow and full of crap too. With Brand out you want to trade Cassell and Maggette? Just so that we can get some first round draft pick??? Whatever dude....

"That's great! I couldn't agree more." -Clipper Joe

That was me you bashed, you Jackass! I accept your apology, but you could have the decency to mention my name or post the apology in the same discussion topic. Yeah Brand could come back in 8 weeks, but that is highly unlikely and would be rather miraculous. He's most likely out for the entire year, and if he does come back, it will take a while for him to come back and be his old self.

The real skinny

The result and time to heal is dependent on the surgeon (the best) the athlete's motivation (the best). Less than 48 hrs between discovery and repair (If so--0% rerupture) And if they find something weird when they MRI/operate.

Slab splint 6wks. Rehab 12 weeks (best rehab available) 83% of athletes return to full activity 6 mos or less. This 6 mos and 83% includes schlubs like us. If you only study elite athletes I'm sure it's less. Some have said 3 mos but that's pushing it. A small number have inborn problems with the tendon causing it to be weak but doubtful in this case. ( I think SL MAY have this)

It looks like Jan at the latest unless he has the Luck of the Clippers

On second thought it probably will be around 3 mos. Unfortunately my pipe line to the Lakers/Clippers docs dried up

Do you also want me to hold your hand and by you some flowers a-hole!!!

I posted my APOLOGY on the topic. I corrected my information on a new topic so EVERYONE CAN SEE. What else to do you want??? The L.A times also had an article which stated Elton would be out 2 months before this new article came out. As soon as I saw it I posted it and retracted my misnformation...which is what I did. I rushed to post it before anyone else could do it first....I forgot to mention the names but this also enamble people to go back to read what I actually said. I went by the most current news avaliable. I said I was sorry and that's that!

Now, If you are going to resort to name calling....I can play that game too.

And to be honest, your are living up to your name which should be twicked just a bit.....ClipperPAIN-intheASS!

Grow up and stop being a baby for goodness sake!

You should know before you post, if you assume something it makes you look like an idiot. Ever hear of the saying, if U ASSUME it makes an ASS out of U and ME.

A torn achilles tendon is not a new or freak injury. If you had any clue about sports injuries, you would know that the non surgical method would take longer to heal, and the surgical method would take 6 months to heal from for the average person, not an NBA superstar. Perhaps I should be more understanding for your lack of intelliegence.

By the way, that prozac insult wasn't me. I never used name calling to questioned what you posted. I only agreed with EB coming back sooner than expected. I think you mis-took the posts for me. You better go back and re-read what I said. Keep in mind, I only posted articles to counter what you said. You started with the personal attacks and I countered with mine. I guess you went after the person who apologized for doubting you and not the one who insulted you! Sounds kind of weak to me. Look man, I didn't come in here to trade insults, I came here to discuss topics and exchange opposing view points...That's all. Now, if you want to keep it up ...we will but by the looks of it , it looks like it's starting to backfire on you.

What do you say...

Chill guys

The info is on the internet. Look at articles in reputable peer-reviewed journals usually from universities.

The non-surgical approach has a healing time about the same as surgical. Non operative has a higher re-rupture rate but fewer complications like infection or blood clot. In elite athletes surgery is preferred because there is a slight decrease in rupture rate. In us, non-surgical casting would be the choice
