I'm sure we have been counted out of contention by many critics and sports writers now that Elton Brand is sidelined for the better part of this upcoming season. Do I blame them...maybe not but this might be a good thing for the Clippers and many of their fans( including myself). I don't know about anyone else but I like being the underdog. Nothing is expected of an underdog and the only direction an underdog can take is UP. Sure we are going into this season with doubts but what if for some strange reason we prove everyone wrong....it can happen. Look, this situation is not good but if we can make noise and prove to the NBA that were we not a "one trick pony" back in 2005-2006, we will get the respect I feel we deserve... especially since Brand will not play a complete season.

I'm sure all the "fair weathered "fans are leaving in droves now. I'm sure all The doubters and "so-called" experts are now criticizing how bad we will do this year, but I say this; If we make the play-offs and prove them wrong, most of them will be left with egg on their face....and that would bring me soo much satisfaction. You see, I'm an old school fan and I tend to have optimism for the team that I love. I don't "band wagon" off the successes of a "trendy" or upcoming team. I don't bail when times are tough. This is my team and I will support them through thick n' thin.

Our situation really isn't that bad no matter how you look at it. Brand won't be out the whole season. Brand didn't win every game for us. Granted he was the most vital and biggest part of the team but now his duties will be shared by 5 players. This could bond the team and make them more solid by the time Brand is ready to return. This will also make it easier for the front office to see what direction we want to go in the future.

This is not what I wanted but this is where we are, So I say "let's take these lemons and make some lemonade"!!!!!

Remember, we have nowhere to go but up!

I didn't say "regular" fans, I said the fans that jumped on the band wagon when times were good(2005-2006 season). I wasn't talking about loyal fans, In fact, I was praising the loyal fans. Hope that clears it up.

I've been a clipper fan since i was 12 (now 23), the days where games were played in the pond, when players played like high schoolers, when the coach sat the whole entire game drinkin' a styrofoam cup filled not with water but with somethin' else (beer/wine), where people were asked/begged to go in and watch the clippers play. Man those were the days.

I remember when Derek Anderson was a big deal when he played for the Clippers. I remember when Keith Closs was on the news when he got jumped by a mob in the middle of downtown Miami. I remember when Erik Piatkowski was the best player in the team along side with Brent Barry (aka white jordan) I remember those days.

So I really consider myself a true Clipper fan!

remember how many of our players were tight as clips, then disappeared? aka McGinnis, Mo Tayler, like you said D.A., D. Miles (who may get better once/if his injuries are gone).

There was one game where Bill Walton had been bagging on Keith Closs all game, and then Closs had a monster block, to which Walton responded "Keith Closs, on the verge of DOMINATING the NBA." Good ole Walton

Haha! Yup!

I remember when they basically telecasted the game against the spurs yeaars ago, and there was no commentator present at the game. You basically just watching a game w/out anybody doing any play-by-plays.

Haha! Another is whenever they had the word "DEFENSE" on the screen...only one of the players would yell...no fans said a word!...

I think the crowd consisted of security, ushers, and janitors! hahahaha! Oh yea..ball boys!

I agree guys- I think the Clippers will play hard and play the right way- they have to in order to have any chance of winning. I hope some of the teams will think lightly of the Clippers minus Brand, and the guys will surprise them and come out with W's. The key is to get off to a decent start- like 12 and 12 or 11 and 13- if they go 7 and 17 it'd might be a tough season. But as long as they put forth their effort and play the right way I would have no complaints whatsoever.

Agree again. All we need is to play smart ball and distribute the ball to the open man. Remember, we don't need to have a perfect record before Brand comes back As long as we are .500 or even a few games below that, I will feel we are in striking range.

100% Agreed. This is either gonna bring the team together better so that when he does come back, he'll be a boost. Maybe even Livingston will be back too and we'll get a big playoff boost. Regardless, if we cant keep Brand and either Maggette or Ross next year, then our team is probably screwed anyways. If we end up at the bottom of the league...we got a chance at some great players in the draft and if we really suck this year, can probably trade expiring contract players for draft picks and get a couple big time players in the draft. I really hope it doesnt come down to this, and in all actuality I think the Clippers will pull through and at least be in the playoff hunt...but just like ClipperJoe says: We can only really go up from here. Gotta look at things half full or you miss out on the joys of life. GO CLIPPERS !!!!

anybody jumping off the bandwagon probably has a kobe jersey in their closet anyway. they can go back to their purple and yellow team anyway, who cares? the clippers will be fine, i still have hopes for a good season. maybe elgin will look at bringing baby shaq over this year.

Well said everyone! As for Sofoklis Schortsianitis- I remember hearing a little while back that he'll stay in Europe for at least another season. That'd be great if he could come over this season obviously, but I'm not sure if that's possible.

This Clips team is a good mix with a solid core of vets that has been very stable over the past few years. They should play good team ball from the start. This may buy time to heal-up (Livvy / Brand) or get the new guys acclimated (Thorton, Jordan, Knight). They'll do fine. Cassell is a great leader who is hungry. He will lead this team to perform at a high level. We need to think about who will pick up this passion once Cassell hangs it up - maybe Livvy or Jordan? Jared could also be a wild card - he's got skills. I wonder if he'll develop a 3 point shot? This is the weakness of both Livvy and Jordan. Being able to close games with the big shot is what separates the top tier PG's (Cassell, Kidd, Billups, Deron Williams, Baron Davis, Nash) from the rest.

BOOOO the clips would be lucky to win 35 games. THEY SUCK!

THEY DONT HAVE WHAT IT TAKES!!!!! EVEN THE TRAILBLAZER COULD BEAT THEM. THIS YEAR LA GOES TO THE LAKERS ONCE AGAIN!

Hey kid, better get off the computer before your mom pulls you by the ear! Or better yet, tell her it's time for your medication. Maybe once it kicks in, you might be able to stop your impulsive actions. I know you are not to blame for what's wrong with you but continue taking your medicine cause that is the only way you well get better.

The person posting this has zero credibility. Keep in mind, since the Shaq trade, the Clippers have won more regular season games and more playoff games than the Lakers. Period.

Any post touting Chris Mihm is tragically flawed.
