I don't know much about this guy but I have gathered as much info. as I could on him. They say he is much in the mold of James Singleton. Let's hope he is. By the way, if he is so much like James why didn't we keep James?????? In any case....

Here is the info. on Josh Powell

The 6-foot-9 Powell, who played at North Carolina State, is entering his third NBA season after brief stints with the Dallas Mavericks, Indiana Pacers and, most recently, the Golden State Warriors.

I don't know this for fact, but my guess is, that if they can get a Singleton clone for less than they'd have to pay Singleton, why not?

If this is true, they will hopefully, apply the saved dollars toward someone who can shore up the front court until Elton returns.

I think Singleton was only due to be paid $800K (or was it $1.2 mil) in his club option year. But I would imagine Powell would be a more consistent outside threat than James was.

Powell has the offense that Singleton either didnt have or never got the chance to use. If Dunleavy would have used him more, maybe we'd know for sure if James had a good jumper or not...but Powell supposedly has a good one (even though reports say he's a bit shy about using it).
