http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/dailydime?page=dime-091114-15 The first coach fired in the NBA this season -- New Orleans' Byron Scott -- was dismissed 10 days earlier than the first coach fired last season: Oklahoma City's P.J. Carlesimo on Nov. 22, 2008. That immediately prompted one top executive I know to ask the question surely being asked all over the league today: "Will Byron's firing start an avalanche the way P.J.'s did last year?" Another avalanche of that magnitude is unlikely. A record six coaching changes were made before Christmas last season. But there will be more this season. Maybe soon, too. One source plugged in to Clipperland insists owner....

I'd take a 40 point loss tonight if it meant the Dunleavy as fired.

ESPN isn't always the most credible source for this kind of news, but it also wouldn't surprise me terribly if there were some truth to this. We know that Sterling has expressed some dissatisfaction with Dun at times in recent years. Sterling doesn't seem to swift or interested, but even he has probably noticed that every iteration of the team that's been put out on the court over the last 3 years seems to have the same problems (stagnant offenses, 4th quarter collapses, etc.). I'm not going to hold my breath though.

Please, let this happen!!! The title of this thread is getting me excited, but reality quickly has set in and Dunleavy is still here. Sad

A loss like that would be an indication of where the active players stand, and probably would be sufficient for the Sliver Don to act.

There's a homeless guy who sleeps under my truck sometimes at night. Goes by the name of "Waffles". I think the sounds he makes are some form of english so he has that going for him.

I would support Waffles' bid as our new coach.

F&@%ING ANYBODY Please! Sterling, don't let another season be wasted with this idiot!

Great goin all the people who chanted to fire Dunleavy at the game, we need to give them a standing ovation at the next game lol woohhh 1 step closer to landing Bron Bron and Wade, Wooww imagine how many dunks we would get with wade, gordon, griffin, and lebron. This is the happiest iv been all year with this team, Dunleavy just doesnt know how to run a quick athletic team, hes good with players like Cassell and Brand, thats why they were so successful

Disclaimer: Dunleavy hatred ahead: Oke Dunleavy's still an idiot for ever bringing in Randolph. I wouldn't call dumping Zach off to the second dumbest GM in the league an "excellent" move, he got lucky that Chris Wallace exists. And Eric Gordon fell in his lap at 7th in the draft. Butler was a nice pick up though, I can't believe better teams didn't go after this guy as a missing link.

nah, dunleavy is a vvery proud person. if he even considers stepping down as coach, then he will for sure leave as GM too. thats how he is.

i just want him gone! he hasnt done anything special as a GM. anybody would have taken EJ at #7, and blake at #1. so just let him leave..for good.

maybe its because he is not that good. he is this year's version of ricky davis. he shoots a bunch of shots yet he is shooting like crap.

my friends and i have been to all the games and chanted fire dunleavy every loss. especially the last two games. at the post game talk with micheal eaves and don michlaine we go to the back and start chanting and last game, they had new personel waiting for us after the game to kick us out. the chants are working!! everyone should come to the games just to chant

It's all fine and dandy that Dumbleavy is releived of his coaching duties, but who is going to fill in the void?

John Lucas? Are you kidding me?

How a proven winner in Byron Scott?

If the Clippers hire an interim coach for the reast of the season, than consider this year a wash.

It's only 10 games in and we still ahve time to turn it around. Get the BEST coach out there, and right now it has to be Byron Scott.

Come on CLIPPERS, somethings gotta happen

Josh you are right that Byron Scott is likely the most polished coach available...I just don't know if that is what we need right now.

In my opinion, he is too much like Dunleavy. Stoic, no connection to the guys, calling set plays every time down...And who's to say he is really a decent coach. It's not a fair evaluation when you have the greatest creator in the game as your point guard. It's similar to our one good year with Cassell. Dude ignored Dunleavy most of the time and basically did what he wanted. That's when we won games and I wouldn't be surprised to hear this same story from Paul in the coming weeks.

If we keep Lucas as the head coach this year it does two important things. First, a complete change in culture. From one end of the spectrum to the other. Lucas is the definition of a player's coach. Dunleavy is the opposite obviously. Secondly, the unfortunate reality we live in as Clipper fans is that any changes to our team must be good for the Sterling's pocketbook. The prospect of dumping dunleavy and having a guy already on staff that doesn't cost him an extra dime is the most realistic scenario we can hope for.

By the way, Alvin Gentry has a terrible career record as a HC and he has those ancient players in Phoenix getting past their collective mid-life crises and winning damn near every game this year.

seems as if don Nellie is getting teh boot too. hes a pretty good coach, but he causes too much problems withing the players. jeff van gundy would be my first pick, byron my second, nellie, and then lucas. im cool with lucas as coach, as long as dunleavy's gone lol

How about bringing Cassell in? He'd be a cheap alternative to Byron Scott and might prove to be a find. If he washes out, we can get another coach soon enough.

i know, for some reason when i went to nba.com today, i was expecting dun's face to be in the main headlines reading something like "clipper's coach mike dunleavy relieved from coaching duties, lucas named head coach" or something like that

If Dun is fired I could almost guarantee Lucas would take over but I'd love to see Hughes for even just 20 games. That one game he ran last season was an interesting one and felt completely different from Duns style.

10 games have already passed.

10 more games and 1/4 of the season will be gone.

I think if we bring in Sammy (or another coach) either before OR AT the 1/4 mark, we can still salvage the season.

I'd let Lucas take over and talk to Mark Jackson about taking an assistant job. Let him know that we want to give him a year to learn and that next season he would take over as the coach.

i bet this is gonna happen: the warriors are going to fire Nellie(the rumors are everywhere), and hire scott and we will miss our opportunity at a good coach. then stupid sterling will probably hire nellie, who doesnt get along with baron. i just know its gonna end up in a stupid way like this......

I don't think Scott will jump into another job right away... I'd be surprised anyway... Rumor has it, he'll wait for Phil to retire and try to get the Laker job.

Rumor is, MDSr gone as coach. But no news on new guy.

He remains as GM, ok, but who follows as coach? Start a rumor.

Google rumor. Rumor = truth.

Shake-up Inevitable for Clippers?

Tone and attitude would suggest a major shake-up for the Clippers

, at least the way team officials were looking after the dust cleared against the Raptors. Frankly, change would be looming for almost any sports team in any league after such a series of debacles................. read on

http://www.hoopsworld.com/HeadlineStori ... TORY_22574

the last paragraph is the worst thing iv heard all week, and i think kills this whole dunleavy thread.
