The worst starts to an NBA season are the following:

0-17 - Miami Heat started their inaugural season in the NBA with that mark from November 5 to December 12, 1988

0-17 - Los Angeles Clippers from February 5 to March 10, 1999 to start the strike-shortened 1998-99 season

We're tied for worst start in the history of the NBA.

New Jersey is 0-13

Their next 5 games are:

@Denver

@Portland

@Sacramento

@Lakers

Dallas

If they lose all 5, they will have the worst start in the history of the NBA.

I think there's a high chance of that happening, what do you guys think?

Although the Nets have been playing a little better and they have Devin Harris back, I think there's a very strong chance they break the record. As we all know, even the good teams are capable of slipping up, but nobody is going to want to be the first team the Nets beat. I just don't see Denver, Portland or the Lakers dropping a game to the Nets. Sacramento has come back to Earth after their winning streak, but I still like their chances at home against NJ. I think they go 0-4 on the road trip and will go home for Dallas with the futility record on the line.

I'm cheering for every team playing the Nets. I don't hate them or anything, I just want that worst start record out of our hands. I do however think they'll beat the Kings. That will be the game that they're anticipating since obviously they can't beat Portland or Denver at home, and the Kings are the only realistic win. Not to mention that they were half-decent last year with Devin Harris with them.

I also think they have a shot against the Kings, but the Kings are struggling after their 5 game win streak. I bet they want to make another comeback and they're eye-ing the Nets on the schedule to kick things off.

Boy did they miss their chance though. They had the Knicks at home with Devin Harris back!

They lost again tonight to Denver.

I heard a rumor that if they come back from their road trip without a win, the coach is FIREDDDD.

We like coaches who can't win... maybe we can pick him up.

i was at that home game in 1998 against sacramento.

that image of lorenzen wright jumping in the air at the midcourt line, as if he just won an nba ring, will forever be etched in my mind.

the sad part was that at 1-17, the playoffs crossed my mind. lol

honestly, I'm looking forward to the Nets-Kings game on Friday more than the Clippers game. This is the Nets one last chance to avoid the record since we all know the Lakers and Mavs will kill them after. Sooo, let's go Kings!

At this point, I'd even take Lawrence Frank over Dunleavy right now. I am at a point of desperation where I'd take just about anybody who is not named Mike Dunleavy to coach this team. He is leading us to another disappointing season right before our eyes. Just unacceptable with the amount of talent we have on this team.

funny how that buzzer beater shot that The t'wolves made against the Nets was the difference between them being the second worst team in the NBA and them being winless and the laughingstock of the media

they are probably struggling because of the lack of talent and injuries, however, Dunleavy has all the talent but we still suck.

I would say we are overrating our talent but its wouldn't be a factual statement. Almost every player in our regular rotation could see normal minutes on another squad.

I picked up Yi in my draft in my fantasy league, he should be a beast this year but that damn injury probably hindered him actually playing super well.

Nets got problems, but look to be in real good shape for the 2010 FA market. And they have by far more to offer Lebron than the Knicks do. Devin Harris is a monster, BRooke Lopez is a great C, Yi is a talented PF, Chris Douglas Roberts and Courtney Lee make great role players and are young and talented, and Rafer Alston makes for a potential starter himself and a great backup for Harris.

Add in the fact they may get John Wall and you have yourself a great looking unit with Lebron out there
