I know I might have this one come back and bite me but what the hell, does Jared have a chance for a spot on the team? I know Guillermo Diaz signed not to long ago but I think I read somewhere that it was not a guaranteed contract and was only for an invitation to training camp for a chance at making the team. With that said, I just got through reading an article from HOOPSWORLD written by Matt Watson about the second round surprises this season. It was written today.

My question is ; If we have a full roster, why would Matt Watson insinuate that Jared Jordan is still fighting for a spot on the team? Am I wrong about Guillermo's contract and is Matt delusional (or the other way around)?

Or maybe, just maybe, a trade is in the making in order to fit JJ in?

I am a little confused about this. Does anyone know what the hell is going on? I would prefer actual facts and not opinions if anyone has the scoop. Hell, even opinions would do. I am big on Jared and wished he would have been offered Guillermo's contract from the start. I know it means squat if it wasn't guaranteed but when I first heard about it , I was not too happy. If the story is true, there is still hope for him. I just have a gut feeling about this guy.

I also feel he would help move the offense more then Guillermo would. Jared is more pure of a PG than Diaz.

Here is part of the article;

Jared Jordan, Los Angeles Clippers

Jordan was the most prolific passer in college basketball the last two years. Even so, most NBA scouts were unimpressed considering the level of competition he faced at tiny Marist University. He's not all that athletic and certainly isn't much of a shooter (shooting worse than 30% from three-point land in two of the past three seasons) but he makes up for it with excellent ball handling and passing.

The Clippers already have three point guards under contract, which is one reason why Jordan is still fighting for a roster spot. But if he makes the team, there's at least a chance that he could play more than you'd otherwise expect. Sam Cassell is 37, Brevin Knight is perpetually dinged up and Shaun Livingston will miss the first part of the year recovering from last year's brutal leg injury - given the Clippers' luck, it wouldn't be that surprising for all three to go down at once. Whether Jordan will ever be a starting-caliber point guard remains to be seen, but he certainly seems to have the tools to run an offense.

According to HoopsHype.com (as awesome site, by the way), Diaz is signed through 2009/10. His salary is $475,000 for 07/08; $711,517 for 08/09; and $825,497 for 09/10
