Thoughts?

I watched him a ton at Oklahoma State. The kid is the all time leading scorer in North Carolina hight school history. Huge recruit that was supposed to got to UNC. He got busted selling weed in high school and UNC took his scholarship away. He then went to Okie St. and tore it up and never had problems again.

He's playing PG in D-League I think, but he's a scoring guard in a PG's body.

I'd have signed Livingston.

Who the f@€% is James Curry? Why can't our GM pick up a head coach from the D-league too?

I guess he's tearing up the D-League and if that's the case he might be our best option. The team isn't going to sign anything but a 10 day deal so this may be best.

Someone said he's averaging 8 assists a game and recently had a 32 point 16 assist game.

You sure you're not mistaking him for Stephen Curry?

Those stats sound pretty good, Hopefully it carries over to the NBA!

If his D League numbers are that good, I guess I'm ok with this signing. Since its just a stop-gap measure until Telfair gets healthier, its probably easier to sign a D-Leaguer to a 10 day than a NBA veteran.

Seems like he's been in a good amount of trouble. If the signing is in fact true I hope he can keep his act together. I know its only a 10 day but the last thing we need is a troublemaker

Of all the ups and downs of Dunleavy. I will give him credit for getting the right man for a spot.

Aside from Korelev, of course.

I don't know he's a scoring pg kind of like bobby brown on the hornets..I would of gone with a old but crafty veteran like brevin knight but maybe only these d leaguers will sign 10 days..hopefully he does higher than expectations but like the post above me..."get well soon bassy"

its pretty impressive that his 3pt % is only like 3% less than his fg%

Looks like an interesting prospect. He just turned 24, and had a PER of 19 in the D-League.

Hopefully he works out and does well for us. We could use a combo guard for the rest of the season if he pans out.

Really hoping he can pan out so we can get something done long-term the more prospects the better.

Well, we needed somebody and Curry is somebody. I'd suggest that everyone try to make their expectations about this signing realistic. Most 10 day call ups from the D League don't amount to much. I'm hopefull that this one will be different, but am not expecting a lot.

hope Curry can be like Gaines is for the Jazz. I have my doubts. We should still pick up Arroyo also, a true PG.

Ya know, even tho i wanted Livingston im kinda excited to see how this kid does. Ive been thinkin for a while that we really need a pg who is a threat from deep an if JamesOn (Im lookin forward to hear Ralph say that) lives up to what his stats indicate im lookin forward to what he can bring to the team. Ultimatly, if worst comes to worst he can only be as bad as Mardy wink

It's important to remember that he's only getting a 10 day contract, if he doesn't work out there is still a possibility on resigning Livingston or exploring other options

^to Hooch20's link^

After looking at the 8 players that that one guy listed as prospective PG's I am glad we picked up JamesOn Curry......out of all the guys he listed he listed Kobe Karl at number 1 and im sry but there is no way i want kobe karl on this team! i saw him play in the preseason for the Fakers and he was horrid....the only person i could have seen us getting is the guy's second choice Jefferson cuz he is all about good defense...but if we were looking just for defense then we would have kept mike taylor......out of all the PG's out there in the D league i think Curry shows the most potential from what we need in a PG. And it was just last week that people were talking in here about needing a PG that can shoot the three better than Baron and now we got one for 10 days so I gotta say im all for this pick up and im looking forward to seeing what he can do! The only flaw that i see in this guy's game is that he doesnt try hard enough on the defensive end but that was just in the few games i watched him in. Other than than he has a pure jumpshot and seems to make sound decisions on the offensive end in addition to being able to push the ball and get into the lane any time he wants! Again this is the D-League but still if even half of it transfers to the NBA ill be stoked!

If anyone can hunt down some highlights of this guy... reps are on the way. Besides that Game-Winner clip and his video of singing at halftime.

nbadraft.net's scouting report:

Strengths: A very smooth player ... Seems to glide with the ball in his hands... Good mid-range jump shot ... Very effective on the break, both with and without the ball ... Long wingspan that he uses to his advantage offensively and defensively... Good on-the-ball defender ... Good jump shooter with NBA range ... Very good size and strength for a point guard, if he plays the point ... Gets good lift on his jump shot... Shoots best off the dribble ... Knows how to make an entry pass... Has seen improvements every year at Oklahoma State, and has learned to play smart basketball ...

Weaknesses: Not a reliable point guard, more of an undersized shooting guard... Lacks the quickness to get to the basket with any consistancy... Not a good enough ball handler to run an offense and make plays... Seems to be disinterested at times when the ball is not in his hands... Doesn't have great court vision... Can get sloppy at times with the basketball... Poor rebounder, even for a guard... Intensity is an issue on both ends of the floor... Off the ball defense is very laid back and he could be burned by a good shooter... Curry has already had issues with the law and could be seen as a problem child.

i hate to diss a guy before seeing him play with us but good god.

at least we know the dude knows how to make an entry pass.

That video is 5 year old. He shoots from a very low position. That could be a bad thing in the NBA. Players will attack his shot early as he brings it up.....so he better be wide open before he shoots. Having said that he has been hitting 48% from the field and 45% from the 3. Not Bad! Hope that shot travels along with him to the Clips.

I haven't seen him play, but from his numbers, he can obviously shoot... That by itself will help...

When you pick up a D-league guy you're trying to find someone who might be able to help your team through a brief crisis, but you're also trying to find someone who might become a real player... Someone who might have been overlooked, or not gottenn their shot in the right environment... The Clippers have had decent luck in the past picking up D-league players who ended up sticking in the league and having long, successful careers... Let's hope this is another one... He fills the combo guard spot we should have filled in training camp.

I'm gonna forget everything that's written here. That's the problem with us Clips fans... We let what's written on paper rather then what happens on the court. We have a really good team on paper but are we really good? I don't think so. We'll see what happens tomorrow. And then I'll say what I need to say.

Im going to go out on a limb here... a very long limb and say this becomes one of the feel good stories in the NBA. These articles were written a while back and players do improve in the D league...to be fairly certain minutes the off court antics this is a big question mark. He has never been in one nba game in his career. We will see the first Jameson Curry game ever in history....lets hope its a good one!

Id gladly eat turkey if im wrong!

Love how his shooting touch and his defense are constantly used as positive traits. With the more I learn about this guy it makes me want to get a Livingston and let them work it at the 1 and 2. Use Livingston size and his shooting touch and they can rotate the ball handling duties.
